1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Hodl Until 3x on: December 22, 2017, 02:43:33 AM
I think about hodling coins until they make 3x (USD price). I pick these coins below. What do you think about my portfolio?
Which coins should I add or remove?

Coin      Date             Current Price
ETH December 07, 2017 425$
WAVES December 07, 2017 8.58$
BNT December 07, 2017 2.53$
CVC December 07, 2017 0.35$

Looks like you already made around 2x your investment, good luck making it to 3x. I personally think CVC has the most potential among your list and would chose ETH as a close second.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: is it better to invest in bitcoin or ethereum ? on: December 22, 2017, 02:35:15 AM
If you have to choose between these 2 coins at this point i would always pick ethereum over bitcoin. I think ethereum has way more room to grow and has the better tech.
But i would look elsewhere if you want some good profits and are prepared to take a risk.

In the long term ethereum is definitely the better choice, in the short term however bitcoin is gaining a lot more attention with ordinary non tech savy people and ethereum is still unknown to most.
3  Economy / Economics / Re: People are extremely biased towards bitcoin. on: December 22, 2017, 02:30:40 AM
Most people here and reddit will defend bitcoin no matter what instead of looking at the problems. Every time someone comments something about the speed or transaction fees they will just yell ''FUD'' or ''Another attack on bitcoin'' but it's not always that. I have been a strong supporter of bitcoin myself but we have to face it, it's not in a good position right now, sure the price is great but what else? Insane fees that are not getting solved any time soon? I know the demand is high but the ones that are buying are just buying to sell eventually not to support bitcoin, not to use it. The demand will eventually fade away and what do we have left? An outdated bitcoin that won't be able to compete with better coins.

Well if the 2mb hard fork happens then the fees should get resolved in the short term but I agree with you that people refuse to see the problems associated with bitcoin but that is because they are so heavily invested they don't want to believe it isn't anything but perfect.

Honestly I expect alts to eventually take over the lead but bitcoin does at least have further scalability coming on the way, a segwit wallet is soon coming out and it is being used more frequently now, 2 mb blocks should b here soon and that hopefully will give enough time for lightning to be deployed.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripples are blowing up again on: December 22, 2017, 02:25:14 AM
SOmething tells me it won't last long, It's being pumped

For sure, we see these cycles every few months where ripple gets pumped then falls and stay low for a long time before the next pump. I'm also not confident in its long term potential though it has managed to stay among the top coins for a long time now.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Still Buying Bitcoin at $100K? on: December 22, 2017, 02:23:39 AM
I do not think I will buy bitcoin if the price reaches $ 100k, because it is very expensive and I should look for bitcoin through signature campaign. In signature campaigns by getting bitcoin will be very profitable and I will start investing after I get bitcoin.
A lot of people are always complaining about expensive, but they have failed to understand that even as at now, so many people are still considering bitcoin's value to still be expensive. So, when will the whole expensive thing stop ? When 1 satoshi is equivalent to a dollar ?

No one knows the peak of bitcoin but as long as I have vision for just those tiny satoshis and the fact that bitcoin will be very useful in the long run, and then I am still going to buy even at $1m.

Even at $100k value, a lot of people will still be buying bitcoin. I see that by then, hopefully a lot of things would have changes, most especially in the usability of bitcoin and that would have really made the value to keep skyrocketing to the point that people won't really bother the amount they are buying as long as it is useful, there is value for it. So far, Zimbabwe has really thought me that, even at a higher value, as long as people need it, then it is non-stop.

I think most people are just worried about when the potential for more profit will end, there is an upper limit after all. I will however still be buying at $100k, but probably not at $1m. For some like me it is an investment rather than purchasing into its utility because right now bitcoin is failing to scale up to mass adoption.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did You Know.. on: December 21, 2017, 06:08:53 PM
Did you know that investing $100 on NEO or XEM or LTC or ETH or DOGE or on 33 other altcoins last January 1, 2017 is more profitable than investing on BTC with the same amount and on the same date?

If you invested $100 last January 1 on
  • ETH, you could have made $10889 today
  • DOGE, you could have made $3703 today
  • NEO, you could have made $53383 today
  • XVG, you could have made $729273 today

While if you invested the same amount on BTC on the same day, then you only made $1757.

What I'm trying to say is do not be afraid of investing on altcoins. There are lots of altcoins that in a year or so, its value will be 1000% more than its value today. So good luck finding those cryptos!

If you want to know what are the 33 other altcoins that are profitable than Bitcoin, here is the website: 100buckscoins.com

Yeah altcoins definitely offer more potential than bitcoin even if that has been hard to notice in the last few weeks. XVG really seems to have been a beast though, I didn't know the profits were that high wow.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Christmas And BTC? on: December 21, 2017, 06:00:39 PM
I was just wondering, to those experts on bitcoin, because I have seen that bitcoin suddenly lay low in going up, and now even plunges.  I needed your opinion.

Does Christmas or any holidays affects bitcoin?
Please elaborate. Thanks a lot

I don't think holidays changes much for bitcoin because exchanges are open 24/7 regardless of the holiday and bitcoin is so widely adopted across different countries, continents and cultures that any individual holiday wouldn't have much of an effect.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: As of now, what under $0.01 altcoins have great potential ? on: December 21, 2017, 05:58:53 PM
Hi,
looking to invest in some very cheap altcoins, any good projects i should check out ?
something with VERGE potential, look at its price a year ago

got on RIPPLE at $0.2

Cardano, mixed feelings about this so sold up at $0.5, hope this wont be a regret

Thanks

The individual value of each coin/token is not what is important, it is the marketcap. A coin could be worth $0.00001 and still be completely overpriced if the supply is huge.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: newbie here on: December 21, 2017, 05:56:21 PM
Nowadays the good ICO doesn't necessary mean to be a good project. The main factor for me is a big hype around the project! Here's an example: Gifto! Look at the project, read there whitepaper and you would definitely say that you won't participate in it, But it had a huge hype and around 80% of investors didn't manage to buy tokens on ICO. So the price pumped up to 4x just after it was listed on Binance.

Completely right, that is because people have trouble identifying the right ICOs so even scams can be profitable in the short term. However if you look over several years then I think we will find all the bad projects to eventually lose money for long term investors or even die out.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Bitcoin is better than other coins? on: December 21, 2017, 05:52:31 PM
Inspite of numerous alternative coins coming out in the crypto world, I still believe that bitcoin is the best coin among all others. It has set the standard in the cryptocurrency as it is the first ever digital currency ever known and released. It still has the most promising value increase (just look at its growth on the chart) that attracts investors. Also, valuenof altcoins are still dependent on the value of btc so basically it is the basis of the crypto industry.

For now you are right but it doesn't necessarily mean bitcoin will always dominate and its flaws are becoming increasingly apparent with huge transaction fees at the moment making it unusable for anything but high value transfers.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon to accept Bitcoin? on: December 21, 2017, 05:48:13 PM
I read fully this article but still now i feel very confused.Because i don't know when amazon announced officially in this news.Whatever if this news is right than i think absolutely it is great initiative from amazon.
So far Amazon has simply bought some crypto-related domain names, but neither announced nor implemented anything specific. Fingers crossed for 2018.

I think it is unlikely they will use bitcoin as a method of payment any time soon simply because of the high transaction fees involved, most purchases on amazon are of relatively small value making a transaction fee of $5-10 prohibitively expensive.

I could however see them launching an ICO of some sort.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your experience in trading? on: December 21, 2017, 05:44:15 PM
I think we should stick to our analysis from the beginning.
We need to watch out unexpected points. What is our target we need to know when we decide to trade. Keep calm and do not panic to avoid making irrational decision.
And do not change and switch too many  coin when we are trading
Those things that you do mention would eventually be gained and be applied along the way on doing trading because engaging into trading will really add up experience which would mold us up to be a better trader. Loses are normal which we should not be easily discourage once we do lose up money because its just normal and this is why its important to learn up from our past mistakes to become a better trader soon.

The most important experience to learn is how to stoploss instead of doubling down and eventually becoming a bagholder for life. While it may not always be the right decision in hindsight it allows u to enter into another profitable trade.

You can learn all the fancy techniques you want but this one in my opinion is the most important.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How should you measure profits? on: December 20, 2017, 03:07:28 PM
Should we measure our investment returns in fiat or in BTC? Does it only depend on when you want to cash out in fiat?
I've been measuring my investment returns in fiat, and it was almost always going up. But when it comes to BTC it actually went down. Should we cash out our alts into bitcoin and accumulate more?

If you're interested in the topic and have similar dilemma, then I recommend you watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkKYuoRg6jM

People mostly invest in altcoins in order to accumulate more btc so it makes sense then to measure profits in btc, otherwise what is the point in buying up altcoins over btc?

The only time I really take an interest in fiat profit is when I'm down in btc then I can say to myself at least I'm still doing well in fiat.

If you guys want to help Tezos and accelerate the process. Sign this petition for the removal of Gevers, the bad guy that is slowing things down in Tezos Foundation.

who is this guy?

Someone trying to save the project

Seems both sides think the other is doing wrong, I do however tend to agree with you that Gevers is trying to do what is right as is his job.

You're totally wrong, Gevers is a big clog in the wheels that has been dragging this project launch backwards. Join Tezos live chat on riot matrix and you will understand better

I think it is the Breitmans that are dragging this project down, they are trying to control everything and enrich themselves at the cost of all the ICO investors instead of working with the foundation as was intended from the start.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who here lives on crypto currency daily? on: December 20, 2017, 02:57:18 PM
I invested a significant amount of money in crypto, mostly through ICOs and nearly all of them have yielded a significant profit. I have also done bounty campaigns and earned a bit in other crypto related fields. The bulk of my crypto income that has sustained me for the past year however was from investments in coins and tokens.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Real small Russian goat farm officially acceptyng crypto on: December 19, 2017, 04:39:05 PM
guys, take a chance and start ICO or create crypto called Goatcoin Smiley i'd invest in you with pleasure!

Oh god please not anymore useless ICOs. They should be used to develop blockchain tech not for random businesses.

It is great however to see increasing bitcoin and general crypto acceptance from small businesses all around the globe. Altcoins in particular since bitcoin fees are a bit high at the moment.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: *Litecoin Top???* on: December 19, 2017, 04:34:54 PM
So Litecoin is over $350. Does anyone think it will dip below $300 anytime soon? Or are we looking at 400+ soon? I'm new to the crypto game.

It will dip below $300 after the new year during a market correction and I think it will even go below $250 if not $200. 2018 will be the year litecoin falls in the top market cap ranks.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can cryptocurrency make real money disappear? on: December 19, 2017, 04:28:33 PM
I think it's not going to happen because cryptocurrencies has no physical form, not all the people know about this kind of technology or know about the existence of digital coin and you must have a internet connection and not all the people are afford to buy a gadget for using cryptocurrencies and paper money was used over a 100 years so it's not easy to replace.
The biggest problem when we use cryptocurrency to replace paper money is cryptocurrency can not use offline. If we transfer cryptocurrency to paper wallet, why do we not use normal paper money? This is the biggest problem make cryptocurrency can not change the best function of paper money.

Bitcoin competes with card payments and banks rather than with paper money. Paper money will never disappear due to working offline but it is currently a tiny proportion of the financial system, the vast majority of money is already digital on peoples bank accounts.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet does not invest in Bitcoin, why? on: December 19, 2017, 04:18:08 PM
The worlds greatest investor doesn't believe in bitcoin. What do you say?

"You can’t value bitcoin because it’s not a value-producing asset...it's a real bubble in that sort of thing.” - Warren Buffet.

Source : https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnwasik/2017/11/06/why-buffett-sees-bitcoin-bubble/#43a11fbe62a8

Warren Buffet is notorious for going after traditional industries and not investing in anything internet related because he doesn't understand it. Someone who doesn't understand the internet is unable to understand bitcoin as well.
