121  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 30, 2021, 10:09:45 AM
I just got back from seeing a friend. He's been in and out of Bitcoin since 2017 (lost money of course). Did the usual what about these shitcoins thing, which I dismissed as well as I could. Anyway he said he has been trying to withdraw as much equity from his home as he can for the last several weeks. Should get it in a week or 2. He then says he was going to buy bitcoin with it when it was in the 50s and now he's really glad that it fell because he's going to be able to buy much more.

He agreed with me that holding was the way, lessons from past sales learnt.

Foolish, I will say though that if you are in your 20's go for it lol... you can recover from losses in your early years and learn a lesson, not in your later years (50 +)

someone bought at $60k +, wonder how they are feeling right now

123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will energy consumption be Bitcoins downfall ? on: May 29, 2021, 09:05:05 PM
Just as people moved from gasoline powered cars to electric will investors also move from bitcoin to ecofriendly alts?

Who makes you believe that Bitcoin is consuming too much energy? Musk? You should not listen to him, but to the miners who are mining it. If they commit that btc is really becoming dangerous globally because of its energy consumption, then they can come to a solution and make btc more eco friendly on their own. I like Musk's initiative of reaching out to and approaching miners to turn to more green mining. But will you accept it if some day, that same guy starts reaching out to people and ask them to stop using electricity completely and go solar forcefully? Aren't we consuming too much electricity even without mining already?

you need to go back and read the conversation so you know what we are talking about.

In a nut shell, I could care less about what an individual says but more in how people react.  If the consumer can use XYZ coin ( a very low power consuming POS) and achieve the same function, security and even better speed than High energy consuming POW BTC, then why not use XYZ

124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What effect does a growing number of altcoins have on Bitcoin on: May 29, 2021, 08:27:44 PM
I was just thinking, most new projects i.e the altcoins we have today are really not bringing anything new to the table other than enriching the devs themselves, who have these projects milking the life(value) out of established coins like bitcoin which could be the cause of been bearish or the extra load that's slowing bitcoin from going to the moon.

So what could be the long term effect of having more altcoins on the market, will they help build or break bitcoin?

Could exchanges play a major role in ensuring shitcoins don't get to see daylight to protect coins that are established to grow?

a lot have come and gone its a lot like the stock market, there will always be other places to invest and other companies with a new mouse trap. Whether the BTC value is $60k per coin or $500 per coin its still going to perform the same function.

ONE      $ 0.087764   -16.07%
MATIC   $ 1.72           -15.52%
HNT      $ 15.11        -15.52%
NANO    $ 6.87          -15.46%
ADA      $ 1.46          -11.74%

all pretty close ADA holding up better for now though

all looks bad today. although some have made good improvements. like yesterday we can see how MATIC is also getting a good move.
Currently, the condition of altcoins is greatly influenced by the position of BTC in the market. those who go green could quickly flush when bitcoin is in a bad trend.

And the winner is  HNT  $ 19.72   +10.21%   wow

for now I have noticed that when the market is red, and it recovers slowly, matic and ADA are experiencing an increase or recovery faster than others, so I suggest buying that coin for scalping and selling it as soon as the price goes up due to a decline over time.

those are good, I also was watching the same thing. One of the larger caps that killed it on a rebound was QTUM $6.42 to $14.26 in a few days.  Harmony also was quick just less % gain.

As far as an investment NANO checks all the boxes... The Nano protocol specifically avoids reliance on mining. This is a design decision which eliminates the unnecessary expenditure of energy and centralization forces mining activities cause. The distribution of Nano has been completed resulting in a maximum supply of 133,248,297

134  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 24, 2021, 02:42:10 PM
oh and by the way, you know what i think about all those sneaky dickhead investors who supposedly buy in the top of an on going bullrun, they just messing with us to boost the run. I mean no investors in their right mind would do that it's their job to know when to invest, you can bet they bought at 3k and below, it's just common sense.

you can bet the house if they mention they are in, they have been in a while
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if Elon musk launches his own coin? on: May 23, 2021, 03:21:57 PM
If Elon launches his own crypto or gets involved with a cryptocurrency project, it doesn't necessarily mean that the project will do good or bad, the only thing that will worry me is that too many people will take his public opinions (tweets) as a signal to either buy or to sell the cryptos and that is not healthy for any business.
A good crypto project should have what it takes to withstand a FUD or shilling by its project members

Its always been that way, way back if JD Rockefeller said it everyone was on board, then it was Warren Buffet with Stocks, the world guru was Richard Branson before The new adventures of Elon Musk.  You are 100% right though it just shows how easily people are influenced by one person.

Yes but there was a slight difference for most of them in that they didn't try to pump an asset like DOGE. When Warren Buffet recommended stocks you could at least be sure it is not absolutely crap and worthless. I am not saying I share all of his opinions as he missed out on all the tech giants, but Musk is playing Monopoly here.

Actually the big difference is social media, its instant now where it use to be hours weeks and months going back to newspapers.  When a visionary entrepreneur takes over the automobile Industry in ten years and gives the worlds space industry stiff competition all he has to do is mention something and the masses will do the pumping.

I wonder if this will effect the Silver market come Monday, lot of speculation that the $2T market cap in crypto kept Silver and Gold down by about 30%
137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More China Craziness - "Cracking done on mining" on: May 23, 2021, 01:02:49 PM
China is banning Bitcoin every year so I think it would be a good idea to have special Bitcoin Ban day we can all mark on our calendars and celebrate annually.
Look at it from positive side, if they ban and restrict Bitcoin mining that means that pools from other countries will have bigger share and there will be no more fake news how China controls Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is like a living organism and it adapts to whatever conditions are in the world with regulations and everything else, but I think Chinese will just move everything underground and continue their business as usual.

Agree lol, it will just be mined in the dark now much like the days of prohibition and alcohol...  it became illegal but they still made and sold it.
138  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Pizza Day Raffle - We have our WINNERS on: May 23, 2021, 12:53:10 PM
I was unaware that Lazlo and satoshi had discussions prior to the pizza order. Lazlo was an early GPU miner and amassed a ton of BTC which made satoshi unhappy and he told Lazlo that the coins needed to be widely distributed for Bitcoin to be a success. Then we saw Lazlo order as many as 8 (I believe) pizzas afterward from community members in an effort to more widely distribute BTC.

The narrative should be changed from man spends ridiculous amount on pizza, to man selflessly distributes his BTC to avoid having too large a concentration of coins.

right!  and that decision facilitated growth in the crypto market quicker..  I use to think what if I had hoarded up all the ( xyz ) collectable I could as a kid, I might actually have killed the market lol
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will energy consumption be Bitcoins downfall ? on: May 22, 2021, 07:52:27 PM
Just as people moved from gasoline powered cars to electric will investors also move from bitcoin to ecofriendly alts?

Of course, in the future, all economies will switch and use clean energy sources and certainly energy consumption for mining BTC and other cryptocurrencies will grow. However, this will not have much of an impact on the BTC price. If you think that the last drop in the price of BTC is related precisely to the amount of energy consumed, then you are mistaken, this is just one of the reasons to bring down the prices of cryptocurrency and buy it at a low price.

nope Its about what the consumer will invest in or not. We could solve all the worlds energy needs now and 100 years from now with Nuclear but the consumer is afraid of Nuclear.  They protest what they fear.
