241  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 25 BTC N Series Bitcoin Block From BTCC on: February 15, 2021, 02:36:43 PM
Thanks for all the mintage information guys.  Windjc I did have a couple of lengthy calls yesterday with some investors and they just have smaller investments in mind with collectables. Of my group of friends I was the crypto enthusiast back pre $650 BTC or so. Now at $1.22 M for 25 BTC asset with less liquidity than an exchange wallet I understand the enthusiasm is less than a few years back.  I am a little more of a collector and drool over these cool collectables but like a lot here I'm not 25 btc wealthy and can only admire you guys that were able to hold so long.  This is a museum piece !  Smithsonian piece !  I think its worthy of a call to see interest there Smiley

Well that's an interesting idea for sure. But with museums, they don't purchase most items. You donate for a tax write off. So if I donated it to the Smithsonian I could take an appraised value of it and write that amount off against earnings for a year. Then the extra bonus is getting the personal acknowledgement for the donation.

It would be interesting to see at what point in the future they would be interested in a piece like this. Certainly once BTC is at $1 million value and this piece is worth north of $25 million. And of course, Bitcoin would need to be accepted more mainstream and as a reserve currency. I suspect in 10-20 years that would be an option. Maybe sooner.

True, someone with north of 200 BTC might find that appealing for all the reasons you stated. Great recognition for BTCC as a company and their insight in recognition of a block as a collectable as well. I remember going to the Smithsonian when I was a very naïve 18 year old and being in aww of all the gems in a room with The Hope Diamond. I asked the guard by the case " Are These Real?" I remember him smiling and going "Those are real" lol, memory of a lifetime to me...  I believe they would have some interest now BTC gets a lot of MSM exposure now.  Best of luck with this ! no matter what you decide its a winner

why is there so much wallet corruption ? If this were to happen with ETH or BTC the whole crypto market would collapse

250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: February 13, 2021, 09:57:12 AM
Certainly we have to be honest, we have fallen so far behind other projects in terms of capitalization that it could be that investors do not see the potential here that was expected a few years ago.

The number of master nodes has dropped a lot in the last month (-100 nodes) and that is an interesting indicator to take into account.

Before, few serious projects offered 6% per year, but today there are dozens of possibilities to obtain that return, even by stacking with stable coins BTC or ETH ...

We have to reinvent ourselves, time and slowness have been our worst enemy ...

The Dash vs BTC chart looks like an infinite horrible downtrend.  Cry

How many master nodes are out there?  isn't it possible the DASH network could operate even on 10 master nodes?  DASH and all crypto's are like stocks in that there is a supply and demand. The ease of use keeps DASH in demand, investors just saw a 100% plus gain in the last three weeks that's tough to beat. Maybe elaborate some on your fears in the alts such as LTC and BTC capitalization. I am interested in the comparisons.

Someone wanted to trade me a set for a Cas coin a few years ago, I didn't know much about them at the time. Beautiful sets !
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: February 12, 2021, 07:50:30 PM
The only hope for the stellar is that SEC does not come after them as they are also a "Security". If the stellar survives this (which i think is difficult), then we can see a big pump in its prices in alt season but on the other hand XLM will be RIP after XRP.
[/quote]

XLM and XRP are exactly the same technology. There's no logic that one is the "security" and other is not. XRP guys will cry foul if XLM is not delisted as XRP, and they will right.
[/quote]

Well one was sold (XRP) and the other was given away for free (XLM). That's the big difference I think.
[/quote]

The law suite and delisting's didn't seem to effect XRP as it keeps chugging.  I dont see why there would be much effect on XLM as well
253  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] 2012 CASASCIUS 1 BITCOIN UNREDEEMED on: February 10, 2021, 06:33:50 PM
Possibly in the not to distant future new accounts would have to send coin to a third party like MJ first for a no reserve auction.

That is what needs to be done in future, otherwise it's a waste of time and internet space for no reason..

The problem with that is the buyer is still having the trust sending massive amounts of value through the mail.  Face to face trades might further suppress the market value of these types of coins, but I don't see any other way to get it done.  Maybe someone should start a service where they fly around to pick up and hand deliver items like this...

For example, there's no way I'd sell extremely high value items without a lawyer present and me handing the coin directly to the buyer.

Right, kind of why I had Brinks in mind for transportation needs. They work with millions some times. I agree if its me I just go meet person to person when we are talking over $40k I just cant imagian not doing that with a 10btc + coin.
254  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] 2012 CASASCIUS 1 BITCOIN UNREDEEMED on: February 09, 2021, 01:50:27 PM
first auction i’ve seen with negative premium after converting forks into btc.

Same.  This has got to be a case of the market not trusting the seller is legitimate.  I would have been willing to buy the coin at that price and let him peel it and send me just the coin with deducting 1 BTC from the auction price...  I'm curious what the outcome of this will be and if everything is legitimate.

That's pretty interesting, I suppose he should have of just said he had a reserve price in mind before people get their hopes up and waist their time to boot.

These loaded collectables have moved into the serious money realm especially the 10btc and up. Just a reminder that Brinks provides armed transportation services.

256  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] one 2011 fully loaded casascius "error" bitcoin on: January 25, 2021, 05:22:31 PM
Thank you for the explanation but I'm actually a bit confused.  Ate you saying my 1 bitcoin is worth more than 1 btc because forks happened after? That sounds too good to be true lol.

See your address here? https://www.blockchain.com/search?search=1AEjKrYnKfgqHsHZEzt7zN5AxUhwv8iML9

See how there are 2 blockchains? You can see you have 1 Bitcoin Cash (BCH) on your coin as well. Which right now is  ~ $430 extra on top of the 1 BTC.

So, that's how I determine "peel value". I know there are a couple of other shit-fork coins on there as well, but I can't recall the names atm. Tongue

shit fork  hilarious  Cheesy

I wonder how many people ( percentage) sell their BTC on spikes like when it hits $40k then buying it back when it dipped to $30k or so. Also known as position trading.
When a loaded coin is in transition from one owner to the next it leaves you open for the swing. However Im sure there are still a lot of people that have BTC they bought five years ago and just waiting for retirement  Wink
257  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] one 2011 fully loaded casascius "error" bitcoin on: January 24, 2021, 01:22:36 AM
Good luck, starting bid too high for me to be interested

Yeah it's just unrealistic in the current market times, unfortunately. Some coins going for under peel lately... Tongue

I noticed that too, there is a volatility index to consider as BTC is bouncing around from 30k to 40k and back. Pretty significant percentage swings.

I'm trying to arrange for getting some good pics.

I would settle for any smart phone pic with todays date in it
