On Poloniex against my balance Permanently Disabled. As if the withdrawal should be open until October 25?

Same here, looks like they have stolen our funds. I see no way to withdrawal EMC2.

Dear Cloak Community,

We're very pleased to announce a new wallet release, including a brand new update of our Enigma Payment System.
Primarily a bug-fix release, Version 2.2.2.0 'rEVOLUTION' also brings the ENIGMA Engine Version 1.1 to CloakCoin users.
Everyone is encouraged to upgrade as soon as possible. This will improve stability/security of the network and should resolve disconnection issues when sending Enigma transactions.
~
So, is the upgrade of CLOAK wallet a mandatory one?
Therefore, everyone have to upgrade their wallets as soon as possible if they don't want to got troubles with their coins stored in their wallets, coin movements, etc.

Yes it is, as the new enigma nods do not communicate with the old nodes. there are some important fixes and improvements. so it is better to upgrade asap.

The upgrade is super easy, no reason not to do it. Took longer to download than to install. Good job CLOAK team!

Is this the latest version or has it not been released yet? I'm concerned with getting my EMC2 off Polo in time.

Hi all. We have a very busy week ahead so I just wanted to let you know what we have planned...

Early next week we are aiming to release the Android app and web wallet upgrades so we'll be testing these two thoroughly this week. Both wallets will be using our new custom block processor meaning faster transactions and more reliable balance reporting.

We are also planning to release the live wallet feature and a new light theme for the web marketplace demo. If you are a demo tester then we’ll let you know more about this in Slack.
And finally we will be updating the desktop client and Qt wallets this week with some new features in preparation for the next phase of dynamic peg testing.

Any questions, feel free to ask here and thanks as always for your continued support Smiley

Great news! Also great that Bay is now on Blockfolio, keep the signals coming! Just bought up a few million more, most promising project out there that will actually work as designed.

Regarding Exchanges

Whenever I see someone (or coins) focusing on exchanges this shows me that they don't understand business.  And, politely, they they don't understand cryptocurrency--- at least the marketing, mechanics and distribution of it.

All this "we gotta get on _______ !!!"  "no man, we gotta get on ______ !!!! " is an huge waste of time.

Getting on an exchange does NOTHING to PERMANENTLY increase a coin's volume, recognition or growth.

Please notice that I wrote permanently.

It just means that more people will have access to purchase and trade it. And, they might.  They might. Being on the exchange does not mean that they will though.

People want a coin because of what it will *do*... because of what it represents... because of the people involved with the coin... because of the future roadmaps and plans... because of many reasons.

People do NOT want to buy a coin because "oh wow!  it's on Binance/Poloniex/whatever exchange"  That will get the coin noticed by pumpers and dumpers, not by people who want to truly hold, purchase and trade the coin.

(They're-- the pump and dump groups-- going to look and say "what low-volume coin can we manipulate since the people involved are desperate for action???" and then bam, we'll have 40-50-110% swings while they inflate and deflate the price, making money while it is going up AND while it is going down.)

If something works, be it a vacuum, water filter, cryptocurrency coin, car, perfume/cologne whatEVER, people will beat a path to the place that finds it and THEN everyone else will want to sell that item, because people *want* it.

Example-- Right now people buy Bitcoin and LOSE money-- willlingly-- because they are paying with gift cards--- that's how bad they want it, they don't care that they are losing 15-25% on TOP of their buying fees.  They are desperate for it and are willing to pay.

Don't chase exchanges.  Being available on the current exchanges is more than enough.  An exchange listing will not make the coin better and make people want to actually 1) hold it or 2) use it.

FOCUS ON UTILITY AND THE BUYERS WILL COME.  Focus on keeping communication channels like social media, Telegram and Twitter updated so people know what's going on.  Focus on these things and when the market picks back up people will say-- "you know what??? I need, I NEED to get some of that NewYorkCoin!  Where?  I don't care!  I want some now!"

Keep the doors open.  Keep the lights on.  Keep things running smoothly.

If you build it, they will come.  And it's already built, so when the next wave hits

they will come.

Actually, every exchange added increases visibility and exposes the project to more and more potential buyers. People have their favorite exchanges, not everyone is signed up on all exchanges, most casual buyers are only one or two and if your coin isn't there, they generally won't signup for more accounts just to buy it unless it does something amazing that others don't.

On the other hand, paying large fees is kin to blackmail so, projects have to be careful and shop exchanges for the value they can bring to the coin. It's not easy to balance value/cost when everything shifts as the price of the coin goes up and down. Bottom line? Be on as many exchanges as possible but don't pay huge fees just for the name.

Senate Banking Committee Hearing Offers Two Opposing Views on Crypto

https://dcebrief.com/senate-banking-committee-hearing-offers-two-opposing-views-on-crypto/

Actually, one view and one idiotic rant from someone who should not be speaking in public on ANY subject.

You're not wrong. As a rule, we should all be skeptical of anyone whose first response to technological innovation is to cast shade and call it a scam or a worthless idea with no real potential. I'm old enough to remember when people I knew and respected confidently predicted that personal computers would never catch on. Many of those same people later laughed at the idea that the internet would ever amount to anything more than a curiosity.

The more things change, the more some things - and people - remain the same.

In this instance it appears that both are somewhat correct, but Roubini - having a rather critical view and potential set of entrenched interests to pursue by keeping cryptocurrency at bay - is hammering home just what he sees before him, and focusing more on how people are using a new technology, rather than the technology itself. Sometimes, even though there is a ton of crap in our industry that needs to be resolved (like all new things), it takes a while until people really learn how technology will end up being used in a practical sense. This is one of the things that DNotes and DNotes Global Inc. has been intensely focusing on.

Technologies always evolve and never started out perfect. Together, we make it near perfect over a long period of time. We have seen it in personal computers, wireless communication, the Internet, and more.

We are witnessing the greatest technology revolution since the internet.  But this is significantly bigger and more widespread allowing for true global participation of up to 90% of the global population by 2027 with full implementation of the next generation of cell phone – G5.

Since the wealthiest 3% own a larger amount than the remaining 97% global wealth, digital currency with its underpinning block technology has positive world-changing implications. Direct payment between two parties without the participation of a third party makes it possible for the first time in human history to have a technology that provides equal opportunity and participation globally in micro payment, micro investment and other funding programs.

I am concerned about the ruthless culture and rampant bad behavior in our industry. Light-touch regulations are highly appropriate. Our law makers should seek to encourage but not stifle innovations that can help change the world for the better.  Equal opportunity to participate irrespective of wealth, status, or locale is world-changing. Let’s work together to change the culture – fairer and more trustworthy.

Roubini's attitude is juvenile, offensive and combative. No different than the early Internet really. There will always be those who speak from a position of knowledge and those that speak from a position of fear and hatred of anything new that threatens their narrow, focused idea of what is good and what is bad. Roubini also speaks from a position of fear and an obvious bias against that which may threaten the only system he knows. He is not the "expert" everyone thinks he is. He got lucky in 2008 like many others that made the same prediction. He, however, stands out because he is an arrogant ass that shouts above the noise in his need to be recognised. I said he was an ass then and I will continue to support that position. Nothing has changed in that regard. Hopefully, Congress is smarter than him.

"Equal opportunity to participate irrespective of wealth" Well said Alan, that is what crypto is all about and we must work to preserve that.

Update:
Testing going well.
Haven't run into any bugs for 3 days now. Still lots more to test.

QT wallet development with peg integration is progressing just fine
Hopefully in another 2-3 weeks we will be ready for test exchange release to multiple cexes.

Thanks for maintaining the QT wallet, it's really all I need especially since I have never been able to get the client running for any length of time due to that SSL error.

SSL Error? Perhaps you weren't installing to c:\BitBay

Program files on windows has some restrictions on launching sub-processes. Either way it's more bulky for sure. Although performance has dramatically improved since two years ago. I did decide to support the QT.

Thank you for that David. All my other wallets and clients, have their data directories installed on D: drive while running from c:  When installing the client on either drive I get the SSL error and am directed to a download page. SSL is installed, always has been, don't know whats interfering with the client's operation. Tried uninstalling sSL, same thing. I'll install on a different PC.

Three Months on Verge Core Team — Reflections
https://medium.com/vergecurrency/three-months-on-verge-core-team-reflections-7987db78e6c5

Today is an important day, almost 3 months ago I was brought on board the Verge Core team. This happened as a result of a on a side project collaboration with CryptoRekt. For some of my peers, this was a very odd decision; as I am almost a 40 year old professional working as a CIO of a successful medium/large Managed Service provider that I founded. Most of my associations in real life are institutional investors, while my friend roster includes bankers, a wall street guy and a handful of accountant types.

Why would a successful business owner like myself, contribute my valuable time to help along a cryptocurrency project without pay?

Due to being an IT nerd, I have a completely different perspective; plus having seen how the internet changed the world. This has given me a great deal of hope that crypto will change the landscape of payments, investment, banking and the entire financial industry. I remember when Video rental stores weren’t concerned about on-demand videos; Or when AOL wasn’t concerned about Yahoo which in turn wasn’t concerned about Google. Another relevant example is dial-up internet providers who didn’t care about cable and DSL. In the beginning my peers had no use for the internet beyond looking at Geocity pages and downloading music from Napster; while i was an early adopter of using Google search and any other interesting new tech I could use or research. I remember watching a dial up internet provider for whom I worked for fail completely not even three years after a 12 million dollar buyout offer. Dial-up was a business model completely rendered useless by high speed internet.

I truly believe that we are currently at the front end of a movement that will completely change the world. I want my foot in the door! Actually, I want to be completely inside the building looking out of the penthouse this time around! I believe in the very nature and ideal of Verge, and I’m more than willing to contribute for free to see that goal through.

Excellent observations. Coming from an old national internet dial-up provider like myself, catch the wave, keep an eye on emerging technology and, don't let go!  Smiley

Interesting use of devcoin here being tested ... more info on this twitter account https://twitter.com/satoshi0x

Fuzzybear

This is not very descriptive for non-tech people. Could you elaborate?

Sorry my bad, still trying to fully understand how and what they have actually manage to achieve... but basically looks like:

They have managed to use devcoin as a side chain and he is comparing how Etherium can issue tokens that are maintained by the Etherium network.... Devcoin can be used as the side chain and tokens could be issued on the devcoin blockchain while the merge mining aspect keeps devcoin and bitcoin secure by the same energy useage and as a sidechain it would not flood the bitcoin network transactions.

Merge mining was obviously there in devcoin as it is mined with bitcoin, but i think they might be using the devcoin network to broardcast and it can be seen on the bitcoin network.  I'll need to dig into it more but could be huge for devcoin... people could be buying up devcoin to launch their own tokens like in Etherium.

Fuzzybear

Don't have to be technical to see the obvious.  I am not technical. Smiley

Just curious, are you into Baseball or DARPA?
