601  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What do I do with these? on: May 31, 2013, 07:37:26 PM
This is well beyond the realm of my knowledge but somebody I know has a bunch of hardware sitting around, including:

http://www.vistek.ca/store/ProVideoEditingSoftware/234663/blackmagic-design-intensity-pro-pcie-1-lane.aspx

He wants to know if these are of any value for mining anything (bitcoin/litecoin/whatevercoin).

Unfortunately google didn't turn up anything on these cards so I'm guessing they aren't that useful.

But one never knows...

Appears to have a Xilinx fpga... a close up shot of the central chip?
602  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to run ~30 video cards on your laptop on: May 31, 2013, 05:32:47 PM

FAIL. like melmo said. moreover item 2 provides PCI slots. Good luck finding mineworthy cards using PCI.
603  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Now available: Lancelot (Heavy Duty 400 Mega hashes, 2 x FPGA Mining Board) on: May 31, 2013, 04:52:37 PM
git cloned
compiled for Pi

now under testing

Hotplug is fantastic (by now I'm running with super user, then I'll work on permissions) BUT I still see orange leds blinking, so the units are randomly idle.

How do I set shorter timings?

Thanks Smiley

P.s.
pics of the new PSU incoming Smiley

One pi to rule them all...
605  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Block Erupter USB on: May 31, 2013, 03:10:48 PM
-S all now keeps the cmd. window open but nothing shows
Ok, try with: bfgminer -S all -D -T -d?

Edit: Also! Be sure you're using the special build I posted for Block Erupter USB!

when i goto that post and download either 64 or 32 bit, norten then removes the file from my computer after download as it is unsafe?

It's Norton that's not safe.  Remove Norton now and get back your system resources.  Find a real antivirus.

It's Windows that's not safe.  Remove Windows now and get back your system resources.  Find a real operating system.

got tracking number.

F5-raping of fedex tracking page begins...
607  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Please sell me 1 USB stick.....bitcoin miner on: May 31, 2013, 04:16:32 AM
Cool novelty but idk if I would buy one for actual mining.

I'm wondering, is there any other use of these usb's except mining?

Jokes aside... but if you have say 20 - 50 of these.. and channel the heat into a concentrated space... This would make one good coffee cup warmer.
608  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB: ztex chipset fans - Titan on: May 30, 2013, 08:52:49 PM

I bought these for > $3. Not very silent, but slight quieter than the fans I had previously. Also this board performs better than my other boards...

If u want i can ship these but shipping from Asia is gonna be a bitch. I need to go shopping soon to buy this for my other boards, so let me know soon. I will add markup.
609  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: USB 300MH/S ASICMiner Value Question on: May 30, 2013, 08:33:31 PM
so when is someone going to post the howto make these miners..

http://www.em.avnet.com/en-us/design/drc/Pages/Xilinx-Spartan-6-FPGA-LX9-MicroBoard.aspx

looks to be the same..

Probably 2 weeks from the moment someone gets the bright idea to spend next couple of weeks writing code for a device to mine (probably) less than 5 MH/s @ $89

IMHO the 5 MH/s and 2 weeks is me being optimistic.

Edit: Corrected typo. the usb thing is $89 not $8
610  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Now available: Lancelot (Heavy Duty 400 Mega hashes, 2 x FPGA Mining Board) on: May 30, 2013, 07:02:58 PM
if someone in europe needs that cables just send me a message.

Do you have a part # i can look up to find one here?

If you gift me a Lancelot, i could measure and tell you  Wink

Blackarrow,

I have the ATX power splitter device you sell but not enough lead cables to hook all my units up to it. Where can I purchase more? (ie, the barrel connector on one end and the positive/ground on the other end)

612  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 30, 2013, 04:09:42 PM
I've got a domestic order for 1, but no tracking number, and its not marked as shipped on the spreadsheet.  Wondering if I could get an update?  Thanks.

same here for an international order.... i guess arklan is paying up his sleep debt...

I had similar issues with raspi + hub detecting ztex. Forcing USB to 1.1 solved the issue.
Thank you for the suggestion.  I had tried that, and various other tweaks, but nothing worked.  It looks as if the RasPi likes only a select few USB 3.0 hubs.  Quite disappointing, but it's hard to complain about a $40 computer.

Another thing to try ... cut/block the +5v connector...

I bought a belkin hub ... given that many belkin models are verified to work.... but this one didnt... i had to force 1.1 and it did. So i guess moral of the story is only buy hubs verified to be working...

Do you know of such a listing of verified working hubs with the Pi?
http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals#Powered_USB_Hubs

I am now powering my pi with the hub it feeds

The Good News

Units Arrived and Unpacked

All Plugged In

Mining Away Alongside The Avalons

The Bad News

The 10-port Anker hub did not work with my Raspberry Pi (Arch Linux) :/  The RasPi recognizes the hub, but it reported errors in trying to recognize the USB Block Erupters.  Using a different hub, the RasPi recognizes the USB-BEs just fine.  So that's disappointing.  I have all 10 running off my Windows desktop for now, until I can figure out a solution.  I'd probably order and try a BeagleBone Black instead, but I hear it's still unstable.

Quick note: I had to give the sticks a good push to get them plugged all the way in.  It was easy to plug them in enough to receive power, but not enough to connect properly.  Had to give 'em a couple extra Newtons to plug all the way in and function.  Luckily the Anker hub has a blue LED that only lights up when they're connected correctly.

I had similar issues with raspi + hub detecting ztex. Forcing USB to 1.1 solved the issue.
need to add
Code:
dwc_otg.speed=1
to /boot/cmdline.txt  and reboot.

Edit: The above is for raspbian... Arch Linux ur on your own.
616  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mining Power Could be Put to Better Use on: May 29, 2013, 12:40:46 PM

Wait are you telling me that its a superstition that people lived 1000s of years ago and they wrote "details of Jewish life along the Mediterranean, including marriage, medicine and mysticism" ?

I agree religion is superstition, but... all religious documents are historically important as it gives a great deal of insight into way of life back then. Maybe something they learned back then which could help us now even.

ok guys. that's it. ALL the packing is done. now i just gotta spend a few hours at office depot and find an effcient way to get the international ones dealt with. the post office is just hell here, so i'm trying to avoid that like the plague... if office depot maintains their "we can't do international" then i'll go find a fedex office.

obviously, it being 6:30 am, there's nothing i can do until they open at ten.

It's impressive to get up earlier than the post office!  Smiley

Those folks are insane with their hours.

Thanks for all your work on this.

My problem with post offices are that they close by the time i get up... so have to goto some mall...
618  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICminer USB block erupter setup on: May 29, 2013, 09:50:35 AM
Will happily make a small donation to anyone who can find a 8port that meets the specs required!!!
U cant...

AFAIK all usb hubs are 4 port hubs. you can find 7 port hubs that are internally 2 x 4 port hubs.(one port on hub 1 feeds hub 2).
So you can get
4 port
7 port
10 port
13 port
16 port
and so on...

Have you considered using a Beaglebone Black?

620  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Redundant backup host machines for custom USB mining hardware? on: May 28, 2013, 11:03:31 PM
I have it in a box with an 8 way power extension, each plug is controlled by one of the relays.

I have modminer quads and found when experimenting with bfgminer and cgminer it required the modminer to reboot when switching so I rigged the relays up to the Pi and modminer quad and some GPU rigs.

I'm going to have to add some more power feeds in though for a new GPU rig as it'll be pulling close to the max output of a single plug at the wall soon.

Really handy when you're remotely tweaking and hard crash a system. Set the bios on the system to power on when there's a power outage so when you witch it back on it starts up again.

Interesting. could i get a relay board to control ATX switch? One that doesn't require doing sorcery with breadboards or soldering? Hardware noob here.

If the mining devices are powered by an ATX, then the jumper to be shorted could be controlled thru a relay.

Apologies to OP for going off topic.
