I'm hugely curious about the huge mass of BTC that was mined in 2009, by a select few people.

Obviously if someone tried to unload a million at one time, the wouldn't be able to, and it would ruin the market.

Who are these people? What will they do with so many bitcoins?

I think a great portion of them are lost, mined by people who thought that bitcoin was just 'funny' and deleted everything

Yeah, a bit like this
I don't think there are that many people with huge amount of bitcoins

1% of users hold 90% of bitcoins...

Funny to see it's exactly the same IRL.

Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more. Think of it as a donation to everyone.
it has lots of buttery taste..

Actually, that's a verifiably false statement. =)

Maybe, but when you see this :https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92423.msg1542212#msg1542212

412 address = 3.5MBTC

And obv some big players got many address with big sum ! or maybe 1000 address with 100btc

my guess is the market play with 2M BTC, no more.

Edit : just found this link : http://www.technollama.co.uk/a-look-at-the-bitcoin-network-transaction-history

So, of all of the Bitcoins ever created, there are only 22% in circulation.

not far with my 2M guess Wink
