When I first heard about bitcoin, and it was like in 2012, I thought it was someone kidding and bitcoin had neither real value and application nor any future. I expected that this effort would soon end with nothing and didn't pay particular attention to people who were discussing crypto (then it was only bitcoin, naturally). Indeed, now I regret those times and such thoughts, but everyone is wise in hindsight.

But I can't say that it took me plenty of time to understand how bitcoin works conceptually, though at that time I strongly underestimated the decentralized nature of crypto and the power of community.
