Mac Qt no work for me Did you try both versions? Does it give you an error message? Go to About This Mac from the Apple Menu and tell me what version of OS X you're using, as well as the processor and memory so I can pass it along to our Mac wallet guy. EDIT: I've been working with our Mac wallet guy testing various builds and sending him the crash reports so he could figure out why specific older model Macs were having an issue. Late last night/early this morning he figured it out and he's working on a fix which I'll post once it's available. My guess is it will be later today (Monday the 14th) but we'll see. Tuesday Edit: Got a PM from him this morning and he's still working on it - he's basically recreating his build machine from scratch and it's a pretty complicated setup process. Once he's done he'll send me a test build to run on my older Mac Mini test machine to make sure it's working before we post updated links. Keep in mind the existing wallets should work for most people; we just want to make sure it works for everyone.

Two quick notes for Windows users:
If you get an error message (runaway exception) when you install the update to Bitseeds, make sure to UNinstall the old version first through the Control Panel or the Bitseeds folder/submenu in your Start Menu.
Secondly, if you try to open the application after installing it and get a different error like "a fatal error has occurred" or similar, then you need to delete everything except your wallet.dat file from the Bitseeds settings folder located in the /appdata/roaming folder
Easiest way to do this is to go to the search box in the Start Menu and type
%appdata%
and hit Enter. This will open the folder containing the one you're looking for. Look in this folder for the folder named Bitseeds, open that, and then put everything in the folder except your wallet.dat file into the Recycle Bin and then open the Bitseeds application again.
This seems to be an extra step that I see fairly often for QT wallets for a variety of coins, so you may be familiar with the procedure, but I just wanted to explain it here for those who don't know the process. I also just recorded a new version of the Windows install how-to video (part of the course we'll be releasing with the giveaway) to cover these steps for those who need it.
Hope that helps.

We will be reintroducing POW starting with block 8800...
Do you have a mining schedule for this? I'm just hoping the rewards are such that early miners/investors aren't punished by a mining schedule that will create millions of new coins in a short amount of time - my hope is that the new coins would have a "mining cost" greater than the old coins? Thanks!

Thanks! I don't think you need to worry about that. I'm personally not a big fan of hugely inflationary coins, or ones with short mining periods, and Gabe and I both wanted to stick to the original design concept as much as possible. So we're essentially returning to the original schedule which you may recall ended up with Block 26131 - Onward: 10 Bitseed, Reward reductions follow at a rate of 0.0025BITS every 90 days for 400 reductions, or 99 years. The block numbering was reset when it was relaunched as a POS coin and we are currently on block 7634 as I type this. We wanted to give a little time to make sure everyone had a chance to update to the new version, which is why we picked 8800 as the starting point. It also gives us some time to talk to a few pools and get them on board. So basically it'll be just 10 Bitseed per block with a very gradual and steady tapering off over about 99 years. Slow and steady for the long term.

Thanks for clarifying, this all sounds good - looking forward to XSEED coming back to life, there's potential here for something interesting in crypto.

I think there's more potential in XSEED than in 99% of other cryptos. And I'm not saying that because I'm involved in the project; I'm involved in the project because I saw that potential. Definitely looking forward to things getting moving - we're just ironing out a few details and getting everything coordinated before we really get things rolling in the next few days. An exciting time!

Just a heads up to everyone; looks like we'll be starting the giveaway and the promotion rolling at the beginning of the week (Monday or Tuesday). Each day I'll be posting the latest video to YouTube and will post a link to each one here, on my Twitter account, and on the new thread I'm starting over at Cryptocointalk. The Rainforest Foundation will be also promoting each video on Twitter, Facebook, to their newsletter, and elsewhere, and we have some partners who will be boosting the signal a bit so it reaches a large audience. If you want to help out, please RT any related Tweets made by me on my Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/PlainTech/and the ones the Rainforest Foundation on theirs: https://twitter.com/RainforestUSand the Bitseeds official Twitter account run by Gabe: https://twitter.com/BitseedsAny tweets you make about it please tag with the $XSEED tag ($ not #) Also be sure to share on Facebook, like the videos, and generally spread the word. We're giving away Bitseeds and knowledge of how to use crypto. Anything you do to help raise awareness of the project helps the price and the price helps the mission of the Rainforest Foundation.

Happy to do so. I think there's more potential in XSEED than in 99% of other cryptos.
I think the non-profit aspect of the coin alone puts it above many others in potential, particularly with Bitcoin recently being classified as a commodity for tax purposes here in the states.

I agree. Also, given the international voice and credibility of the Rainforest Foundation gives BitSeeds something unique; that combined with the merchant service support we'll have up and running with Coin.co before the end of the year and the charity tax incentive (on top of the usual savings over credit card fees) adds a great incentive for merchant adoption. The whole combination of factors is what got me involved in the first place. Speaking of, I'm happy to finally reveal the first of the video tutorials that I recorded to help out the project and to announce the beginning of the two week giveaway. I've recorded 15 videos forming a complete intro cryptocurrency course using the BitSeeds wallet as the teaching example. We'll be releasing one a day over the next couple of weeks - each day, the first 50 people to post their payment address in a comment and share the video will receive 100 $XSEED. Each person will also get a single chance at the drawing for 5,000 - the results of the drawing will be announced in a new video I'll post about 1 week later.

I can't get the wallet to sync past block 1500.
Even with these nodes:

I guess the initial sync was very slow. Between my last post and now the wallet caught up. Guess I should have waited a little longer

Awesome. Thank you for the quick turnaround time! Just for info, your tag of BITS is already in use on Bittrex and Poloniex for BitStarCoin.
Yes, that's actually the old symbol that BitSeeds was launched with but it was changed to XSEED. The dev forgot to change it in the wallet with 1.2, but we'll fix it in the next update.
