This is nothing but a collossal embarrasment to the entire bitcoin community. I ready to just sell everything. This thing has no future if the community can't even acknowledge what a show stopper problem this is, much less fix it.

Bitcoin is not a community. It is a technology. It works with or without the community acknowledging anything.

This is the second time in 2 days I've moved money and it's taken over 4 FUCKNG HOURS. .0001 BTC Fee. Pardon my french BUT WHAT IN THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THE GODDAMN NETWORK that this is occuring? A fucking 300 baud modem could move data faster than this.
This is total unacccepptable epic bullshit on every level. You think bitcoin will go to 0 cents in the future? Well keep up this bullshit.
May I suggest you take up a hobby more suited to your intelligence level? Perhaps knitting?

Blocks are not taking 4 hours, and absolutely nothing is wrong with the network. The problem is the fact that your payment spends funds from an unconfirmed transaction that remains unconfirmed because no transaction fee was paid. The second transaction transaction cannot be confirmed until the first one is, and the first one may be delayed indefinitely. Either your wallet software is incompetently designed (in which case you should report this incident to the developers of said software) or you have deliberately created an illegitimate transaction chain for whatever reason.

I sold someone some bitcoins last night. From my phone to his it took about 15 seconds before the transaction went through.
I think I smell something.... Yeah, I smell bullshit Oh, wait, you mean the transaction went through..... When did the 1st confirmation come through? Confirmation did not matter. We met through localbitcoins. I have a 100% reputation with over 50 trades. For me to reverse the transaction on someone and sacrifice that reputation would be stupid. Even when I sold a rather large amount of bitcoins to someone they were ok with just the transaction going through. We had traded before and we both understand that we want to continue trading in the future for our own mutual benefit. Sorry but confirmation is what makes things rock solid. In fact 2 confirmations minimum IMO. Anyone working with 0 confirmations is prone to get ripped off.

oP needs to learn more before going all ape shit.
If you include no transaction fee you can expect to have longer than normal delays.

What do you find funny about my comment? Or that makes you think I am on LSD <- isn't LSD a hallucinogenic drug btw? If I was in such a state of mind then how would I know about confirmation times and how much they matter? The questions is: Are you???

Please stop spreading misinformation. 0 confirmations are ok for most things Please keep your thoughts to your self. 0 confirmations IS NOT OK UNLESS your buying a pack of chewing gum and the shop owner don't mind loosing $1. When you do REAL trades confirmations are crucial to the success of your trade. Please go read some more. Thank you EDIT: nevermind, I just saw your sig.... I can understand that you want to promote your refferences but please stop posting BS. Thanks 0 Confirmations is as reasonable as trusting your credit card transaction that takes a few seconds. A credit card transaction can be reversed up to 180 days after the transaction. A Bitcoin transaction can "theoretically" be reversed up to a few minutes after the transaction. Most transactions are between people voluntarily doing business with each other. A business that is mutually beneficial and includes a relationship of trust. If you do not trust the person you are doing business with, then you either need a mechanism to handle the trust or you need to wait 10 minutes.

What makes a 0 confirm unsafe ? (and no, a 51% attack is not a valid argument)
The transaction could exist just on your computer, never having made it to the blockchain for some technical reason.

Use Bitcoin Core 0.10 (or another wallet with up to date transaction fee handling) New command line options for transaction fee changes:
-txconfirmtarget=n : create transactions that have enough fees (or priority) so they are likely to begin confirmation within n blocks (default: 1). This setting is over-ridden by the -paytxfee option.

If it's a problem then it's a problem. Once the payment has been sent and the seller gets acknowledgement of that then it's as good as confirmed, but shops will use payment processors most likely. You can do a 'chargeback' or the card could be stolen and payment processors protect against this.

Over 4 hours ? That's impossible. At most, you have to wait about 1.5 hours for a confirmation. Maybe your transaction size is very big & you only put 0.0001

Seriously please stop. Enough with your BS. You can NOT check that in a second - as Vod said that ONLY exists on YOUR COMPUTER. Unless you have atleast 1 confirmation from ALL nodes then your transaction DIDN'T go through. Once again, please stop and do some more reading. Thank you for your time

Personally I think that ALL transactions should have atleast 1 confirmation, but when you work in a place selling, I don't know, chewing gum, you wouldn't worry about it that much. BUT, if you sold house appliances or video games, you would definetly wait for the confirmations.
