If the SPR was not good had not been listed so long on Bittrex, SPR listed on Bittrex before Coin101 joined the SPR. If the SPR security is not good then not listed on Bittrex or have been nock out in the past 3 years. Remember Bittrex has asked a very high security of coin, to be listed. SPR still exists now. HLM still is Big question?
19/12/2014 SPR gets ADD on Bittrex, 26/10/2017 SPR is round 3 years old.

SPR was nearly delisted at least a dozen times over the last couple of years due to low volume, when I was part of the SPR team, I used my own funds to prevent it from being delisted.

Something else worth considering is that Bittrex had much lower requirements for adding a coin in 2014.

SPR and HLM are based on the Darkcoin Dash predecessor: But Why HLM Isn't Snapshot from Dash that from SPR?

The term “snapshot” is misleading. What actually happened was that a group of people collectively decided to take some unexplored development ideas originally proposed for Spreadcoin and to pursue them independently. The result is Helium, an alternative to the current Spreadcoin development track. A copy of the Spreadcoin public ledger was made (by virtue of calculating the UTXO set at an agreed block height), giving all existing Spreadcoin holders an initial Helium balance equal to their Spreadcoin balance. The Helium group chose to initialise the project using a more recent clone of Dash.

Coins101 decided to start from scratch with Helium.

The cloned-from-darkcoin current Spreadcoin code is a copy of the Bitcoin 0.8.X codebase which was obsoleted by the massive refactoring and reorganisation done by the Bitcoin development team in migrating to Bitcoin Core (0.9 and up). Close reading of the comments around the release of Bitcoin 0.10 reveals a huge amount of relief (from the Bitcoin dev team) in managing to escape unscathed from the variety of obscure-but-real potential exploits in the older codebase. Initialising the Helium project with anything other than a clone of Bitcoin Core 0.10 or later could/would have been argued as irresponsible.

Quote
If SPR was worth saving, believe me...the old SPR team would have done.

Pretty much all of Mr Spread's innovations (that made Spreadcoin cool and groovy back in 2014) have long since been adopted/abandoned/overtaken by other altcoin groups. C'est la vie. From a development perspective, the only remaining value is in (what remains of) the original pro-social and supportive community that gathered around Mr Spread.

I find it instructive to note that groups of dissenters have responsibly chosen to offer the SPR community an alternative rather than to disruptively challenge the primacy of the extant SPR development programme.

Cheers

Graham

Thank you gjhiggins and stonehedge for your information.
Difficulties in terms of liquidity from 2015 to 2016 many coin also. No need for liquidity support now, as every coin will need time to prove its existence.
I know you are one of the most active people in SPR and HLM and others now.
SPR is like today part of your effort. Good you success on new projects.

As gjhiggins correctly implies, the HLM team would have looked into whether it was sensible to simple fork SPR but I assume the amount of work to get SPR up to date with core updates was deemed uncessary when you could just fork from a later version of Dash which already contained the core updates.  Its a smart move.

Something that I find fascinating is how the respective groups of ex-spreaders get on with their new projects.  Whilst HLM and Crown have never positioned themselves as rivals, their plans sprang from their frustrations at SPR and both projects have very different approaches to similar problems.

All you bottom pickers buying based on the chart that have no idea about SPR's history are in for such a rude awakening. At least you'll get a good lesson about fundamentals vs TA. Good luck!
