If there was no profit in owning a faucet there would be no faucets.

Yes. But you need a considerable amount of investment at first (not like some $1 in Bitcoins) or else your balance will be long gone before you can begin making money.

I invested BTC0.1 into my faucet and monetized it with Google AdSense. Just post it in here under "Micro Earnings" and set your referral commission to about 25% to get into some BTC rotators, and the ads started making profit.

Yes ofcourse but it depends on how many unique visitors that your site is getting, you need to advertise about your site first

We all know the trick is volume.  The higher volume you get the more your ads will pay.  But for this you need to pay "high" for a faucet which is still very little amount.

But as far as successful faucets sharing info I would not count on it.  Most likely they will keep sucess stories private and build new ones, making more and more.

Owning a faucet is pretty much like owning a casino. The profits is largely based on the quality of visitors visiting your website. For example, impressions from certain countries have much lower rate. Some advertisers may also be looking at your visitor's time spent on page. There are a lot of faucets on the web right now. To stay competitive, your faucet should have new features and higher payouts. All of these requires funds and needless to say you have to pay for web hosting. Most newbies would be interested in posting in the forum for more amount of money.

1) you can not make profit by being lazy.
2) having a faucet needs a lot of work. don't think that people will come and cash will flow into your pocket.
3) you have to invest money for the start, before you have any ad or traffic, and invest time for maintaining this traffic by advertising your faucet and thing like that.
4) your prizes should be competetive so that it will attract more people
5) don't forget about referral commission

Build a faucet is not easy, manage your web(interface, design, script ect), you must manage your income and faucet balance. If you lazy person buy a faucet script.

If there was no profit in owning a faucet there would be no faucets.

Hmm.. nowadays, there is lot of faucets around. To make your faucets stand out, not only do you need to give higher payout but also unique features. Here, I will list the three faucets I used daily:

1. FreeBitco.in - they are the oldest (trusted) and I have a chance to win $200. Captcha is easy and quick.
2. WeekendBitcoin - they use Google Recaptcha which is easy to solve. They give higher payout compared to other faucets.
3. MoonBit.co.in - they are unique in a sense you can choose when you want to claim.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

You CAN Earn a profit from owning a faucet as long as you balance the reward and you have enough visitors
and find a good ad network to pay it off.

It takes a long time and at first you'll be at a huge loss.

this freebitco.in has been around a while and has a rather large userbase, i believe it also comes up first on a "bitcoin faucet" google search as well, but i may be wrong. with ads plastered everywhere, its definite that whoever owns the domain makes a pretty sum of money from the faucet.

The main factor is possibly the potential amount of coins given out and the features of the site itself. It offers a gambling section as well and many people can just lose most of their earnings there. The probability of getting the highest payout is really low but the thought of it makes it appealing to lots of people. The method of advertise is quite easy and I have even used it several times as it is integrated in the site itself.

I owned a faucet for over two months after which I had to shut it down because I was spending a lot of my own money on it. I didn't mind, but I invested over 2BTC (at a much lower price, but still) into it. These days it's only posstible to make a profit on faucets if you are a big and well known or if you have something that makes you unique so that people from the big faucets also come to yours. In other words, it's hard to do. My faucet had an extra PeerBet withdrawal system and a Puzzle captcha and even that wasn't unique enough to attract a lot of people.

nowadays people are attracted from magic caracthers and farming, or something like building managment, so a faucets that work with those kinds of things have a good change to become famous enough

Yeah....those three website are the most I visited since they are provide constant payment every dateline.
If many people like to visit the site, then more advertisement means more profit. But you need some effort to do it because not all people or company could maintanin faucet site forever

True. Although it's not only the volume of the visitors there determine the profit: advertisements on websites about particular industries are for example paid much more than others (for example travel websites and finance websites do well with their advertisements). If you really want to create a popular faucet, I think also building some good content is the way to go (together with a lot of marketing and acceptable payouts). Build some good content about related topics (related to the faucet and related to Bitcoin). It think the content is what usually lacks in most of the faucets.  Create a faucet that is more than just a faucet - create an informative part around it.

Yeah it's profitable if you invest some efforts and money in your faucet.
Give visitors good amount of faucet to claim in promotion, and they will become your active visitor
and you must promote your faucet in many places to get more visitors
how to create my own faucet?
do i need to know programming language?
I read this tutorial before, maybe you can learn how to make it there :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=928315.0

it doesn't need expert programming language, just basic CSS and JS (and PHP too) is enough to make faucet running.
But if you want good looking faucet, try to learn more about CSS and JS.

I think it will easy to learn, not hard programming language, but you need some efforts to make it works.
Otherwise you can hire web designer to make good faucet for you

making a simple faucet is not that hard, you can easily get a template or something and just change a couple of things and upload it, there are many of them available. and you have a running faucet.

but making profit from a faucet and have a good traffic is something else that can not be achieved easily, and at the end you might lose more money than you can earn.
