Last block was about 2 years ago.  A lot of work is needed to update the wallet into new bitcoin versions.

Today I started the wallet and it showed 12 weeks ago and no connections, then I added addnode=209.145.50.223 and the wallet showed 1 connection, started solo mining and works

Great to hear that some one is willing to take over an almost dead coin.  By the way, you can take look at open souced code of nengcoin or Cheetahcoin, which is bitcoin v0.13.3 version based.  If you can update wallet to 0.13 or higher, a lot of benefit opens up.  One obvious benefit is atomicdex (from Komodo team) trading.   There is no listing fee involved,  free DEX listing, I highly recommend this atomic swap based DEX.  but of course lot of dev work is needed on core wallet upgrade.

Checked, my node is running, but no peers connecting. The dev needs to run an explorer so that that exporer node can be a centralized center.

There might be code issue that nodes are not connecting.
