Im sure by now you have all heard of or experienced the slow confirmation issues with bitcoin transactions. There is an inherent problem with btc tx fees and spamming the bitcoin network. And it's getting worse.

Is it time for a real alternative coin to takeover as the number one crypto?

It would seem that Litecoin would be the obvious choice....but is it?

What about Peercoin? And Monero? Ripple? Doge?

State your case for coin that will replace the bitcoin.

A broken coin with pumped speculative value...I see your point.

I think one of the main reasons it's pumping so hard is because of how resilient the network has been to the attack. I haven't had a single problem getting confirmations since it started.

Listen, nothing is replacing bitcoin anytime soon. I see a small future for Citicoin and Sachscoin, but we can clearly see that unless BTC severely fucks up it will win.

In the mean time, people will be trying to make money off of altcoins like they always have. Cheerleading for a particular coin is absolutely insane, but it's just like what happens between xbox/ps fanbois and isn't going to stop any time soon.

Do you think that Doges high visibility and relatively large availability are an asset that would make it worthy as the #1 crypto?

It only showed how resilient Bitcoin is as the network was still functioning. Any problem which can break it will be solved.

Bitcoin is here to stay and is going to get even bigger when we approach reward halving. The other coins would be lucky to get even a small share of the pie.

I think you're either ignorant or you're  trying to pump a random alt you hold.
The BTC transaction situation is not an issue at all if you think about it for more than a second. Simply pay for your transaction to go through and that's it. Every single altcoin transaction speed could be slowed down just like BTC if they were as popular as BTC, but they're not. And all altcoin blockachains would grow significantly higher than BTC it they were to be constantly tested.

Not your keys, not your coins!

Yeah. Also, the sun forgot to rise this morning, water now flows up hill, and my wife even said "yes" to sex last night. Strange things happening these days.  Cheesy

I don't think bitcoin is failing but I'm interested to know if there are any proposed solutions to the fungibility problem. If not, then i think Monero is a good bet.

Sounds like sound logic, which coin has a developer(s) chasing profits? (Genuine question here...)

It would seem that Litecoin would be the obvious choice....but is it?

Probably not. It has a anti-spam mechanism, but I heard it's insufficient.

What about Peercoin? And Monero? Ripple? Doge?

Peercoin (and NXT, too) have high mandatory transactions fees. So they are less likely to be spammed this way. They are also interesting because of Proof of Stake, which solves the energy-consumption problem and mining-related bubbles.

Doge: I think it will remain an internet-community coin, so its potential importance is limited.

Ripple: Possibly, but has another scope. Monero, possibly too, but I don't know about its anti-spam mechanisms.

But my long-term bet is the coin you see in my personal text message Grin It has a revolutionary consensus algorithm, a long-term orientation and a anti-spam mechanism (the same as Peercoin/NXT).
