Internet marketing is a must since early 2000's. I wish i still got the pokemon website which i created when i was a kid in 2000... It would have made me a millionare right now. That's the thing about internet. When you start something it seems like it is useless at first but After  a few years while you develop your project, it becomes big over time.

Don't just wish to have a website way back year 2000 because it is still not too late for you if you are going to start your own website that you are in favor of it. But that's a fact, those people who were able to start their own website from longer years are now possible to get some decent passive income for each days of their lives with advertising services.

This is debatable. Distinguishing between a good promotion and huge and stupid advertising is a matter of personal preferences really. If you offer a shitty product or service good promotion or marketing won't help you much because people are not fools. Did this forum require a lot of hype or promotion to get widely known? It could accelerate its recognition, of course, but ultimately, it is the content that matters and its quality.

Just a little over a month ago I wore a signature advertising another forum about cryptocurrencies with a fancy interface and a lot of gimmicks, bells and whistles. That campaign lasted only a week and ended abruptly half-way into the second. I haven't heard about that forum ever since then, but I've seen admins of other forums offering users money for posting on their forums. I looked into these, and I didn't find anything that would make me feel like posting there, even for cash.

Marketing its a powerful thing nowadays, it may choose the destiny of any product or company, some years ago a cellphone company had monopoly at my country with internet and cellphones, till some group very smart and skilled marketers joined the other company, the result were something like 6 months- 1 year small histories that make and showed all the products the company does wanna to offer, it went into a huge sucess, nowadays there is two strong companies with same products and costs.

Take for example as in the case of Mark Zuckerberg, he started facebook only with purpose of sharing good communication platform with his folks in the college but at last look at what facebook has turn out to be today. It has become a billion dollar business brand that can continue to support his family till eternity.

True. It depends on the website that you created before in which right now websites should be more appealing in the naked eye to attract more users and soon become your patrons throughout the year.

Well the more years your site is established then it is going to be better that you are going to get more users and build up your site better.
Because there are people who are keep using a website as long as they are able to get some good output from it. And many advertisers are using those sites because they know it is trusted and better.

The longer your site has been in the internet the bigger the benefits in the long run, for example aged domains will get a boost with Google just because they have been around for a long period of time compared to a relatively new website.

Correct. I don't know how widespread the following marketing wisdom is, but it surely has a lot of substance. It basically says that if you are in a situation of tough competition with someone or some company, and you can improve the quality of your product making it better than its competition, you'd better spend money on improving it rather than on advertising it.

Second, if you start advertising bullshit, people will soon start regarding you accordingly. Placebo effect never lasts.
