you have to make a account there making a account there is not easy either and if you want stuff you normally get free any place else unlimited miner alerts  etc they charge a fee for at diff donation levels you don't pay for else were and it can be a real pain at times to figure out .I had two S5 there once tiring the service out . I won't comment to much more on it . but will say to me it might be a good service if you don't mind paying for options, all the other Mining site give you free .

The S5 runs on it's own you do not need the bitminter client for it to run.  If you had an asic usb hooked to computer or something then yes the program might work.

I suggest looking at better pools such as antpool.   Bitminter is not really a top notch pool.

you can try to rise a little the default frequency in the command line, but with this hot summer(at least here in euro) and the bad fans that they are wearing, it's better to not rise it by too much, i would wait autumn for those type of thing

Pool URL: stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333

As user name put your Bitminter user name, an underscore, then a worker name, e.g. DrHaribo_asic3. In case you have firewall issues, port 443 and 5050 (Stratum) are also available. There is no password check, any password is accepted.

I suggest looking at better pools such as antpool.   Bitminter is not really a top notch pool.

Why? What's wrong with my pool?

your pool is a good pool.

It just is a tiny pool at this point: https://blockchain.info/pools  .  Like one block in past 24 hours, I like to go with more popular pools.

Also it is PPLNS at 1 percent.  You can find a good amount of PPLNS that are no fee.

Those two things make it not a first choice for me on pools.

It just is a tiny pool at this point: https://blockchain.info/pools  .  Like one block in past 24 hours, I like to go with more popular pools.

Why is that a problem?

This seems to be the way most miners choose a pool - they go with the biggest one. This is the reason Deepbit became too large, then BTC Guild, and later GHash.

Right now Chinese pools have over 50% of the hashpower. This means that just like the US government controls Visa and Mastercard, the Chinese government now controls bitcoin. This is a very bad thing for bitcoin.

You may also want to consider that there is a warning at bitcoin.org to not use the pool you suggested because they are mining blindly: https://bitcoin.org/en/alert/2015-07-04-spv-mining

If you care about what happens to bitcoin, then think about how you use your hashpower and how it affects bitcoin. The future of bitcoin is probably more important to you than it is important to be doing the same thing as everyone else (why is that even important).

Also it is PPLNS at 1 percent.  You can find a good amount of PPLNS that are no fee.

Do you care about the fee or the final payouts? 1% is not much and there are many other factors involved. Some pools don't pay out income from transaction fees, have a high orphan rate, pay for stale work (using your mining income to subsidize miners with bad internet connection), or don't have merged mining.

I had a large miner (at the time) who was very happy with the customer service and other things at my pool but he felt it was unfair that my pool had profits, so he left for Ghash. Then Ghash scammed a casino (they say the employee who did it no longer works there). And their payouts were about 10% below average, probably because they had a vulnerability that some miners used to get their work counted multiple times. 10% is a lot more than 1%.

I understand that miners will not take all these complicated factors into account though. I guess the fee has become like the pixel count of cameras, it's a product reduced to a single number to make it easier for you to choose. Maybe it would look better if transaction fee income and namecoins were kept by the pool, but the fee was reduced to 0% ?

I am in no way saying they are horrible. There is just better out there.  When I have a offer of a big pool at PPLNS at 0 percent, or a small pool at 1 percent for same PPLNS.  I will go or the 0 percent.

Again personal preference.   It's not a horrible pool.... just obviously not  popular pool.

I've been Advised to try Bitminter just didn't know how to get connected with the S5 antminer.

I got the idea now, just add the pool name in the configuration.

Thanks a million guys,

please share some links!

You can overclock in the configuration settings.

Go to ---> Miner configuration ----> Advanced ----> from the drop down menu choose how much you want to overclock and click save and apply. BTW, I tried over cloaking to 450 it just took the Hash Rate down to half. Ill suggest not to increase it too much and it will make your machine live less.

Kind Regards,

Out of curiosity who advised you to use bitminter?  It just is one that is not all that popular anymore.

Eleuthria, after shutting down his pool BTC Guild, is recommending Bitminter to his miners.

bitcoin.org is advising miners to use a pool that properly validates blocks. There is a list of bad and good pools at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_pools#SPV_Mining_.2F_Old_Bitcoin_Core

Ahhh ok thank you!  I could not find that.

Intresting choice still kinda sad to see BTC Guild go after all the time they were around.  And at times they were massive.

Yes, it's sad. Most of the old pools are gone now. BTC Guild is one of few that shut down cleanly. And Eleuthria is the only pool op so far that took proper action when his pool got too big.

Pool are closing because everyone go on antpool or f2pool instead of promoting good pool like btcguild or bitminter.
We need to spread the hash guys! I know its hard to be on a small pool but if we spread and balance all, we will get a better network!
So sacrifice a small amount to get a better network.

I use Kano.is but bitminter is good too! We had btcguild but I understand he had to close, big chinese are getting all the power!

So come on guys lets switch to kano and bitminter and show your support!  Smiley

I mine on Bitminter since a year and a half. The pool is great, you just have to learn to live with luck variance.

The Doc is a awsome devoted owner.

1% vs 0% ... that's a greedy call as hell.

I prefer to give 1% to the Doc then helping giant pool who do not give a damm about my miners.

+++++10000
Besides as doc said 0% is never 0 there is not such thing like a free lunch. They all get their percentage in one way or another no doubts Wink
And doc takes care about all users no mater if they are big miners or just newbies that is a statment from my personal experience. That has no measurement in luck or pool fee!!!!!

I'm not against the "little guy" in anyway.  I don't like that the pools are becoming fewer and fewer.  And for the record I mined for a LONG time on BTC Guild.

At this point I just really like flat PPS.  I'm willing to give a bit in percentage to get this.  Yes others equal over time, just I like getting paid constant stream.
