Try mixing the bitcoins through some bitcoin mixer, or if you want a cheaper alternative deposit it to a trusted gambling site, and then withdraw again. Its highly probable that your withdrawal will come from a different address than you deposited on, or if you would like to be double sure, repeat the deposit and withdraw for 5-10 times.

This is not a 'safe' way to mix your coins. Gambling sites keep records of their customers (IP address, deposit address, withdrawal request) and some of the gambling sites have a fee on deposits to prevent using gambling site as a mixer.

I usually 'hide' my transactions by sending my coins to a trusted exchange and withdraw to a completely new address. Though it does not make it completely untraceable, still there is an added layer of confusion as to where the coins went after that certain transaction.

I heard many mixer services will make our transactions untraceable by using different bitcoin addresses. very much useful services.
yeah sure, but the owner know your movements anyway, so they are not really that untraceable, unless only you know about it i was thinking that someone should run his own mixer, if he want to stay more anon

This won't help you much if someone wants to reveal what you were doing. Ok, you will confuse the ordinary people, but authorities just need to contact the exchanges and have a missing piece of puzzle delivered to them.

Do. Not. Work. Read earlier in the thread. There's multiple studies showing how you can automate the process of following mixed transactions.

Nothing's untracable. A bitcoin mixer would make it extremely hard to trace, but it's still possible. But I dont see any need for your transaction to be untracable.

That's great idea, even gambling sites keep records. They won't able track you far because you never give your identity. But, they still keep record of every withdrawal request, so you must really trust that gambling sites. Or you could use something even better, use many gambling sites for it. Say deposit 1 btc in PD, withdraw 0.5 btc to an alt account(through deposit address not tip function) and 0.5 to another alt account, for even more privacy, do it using three browsers each with a different location VPN. Now withdraw that 0.5 btc to safedice on two alts and repeat the same thing again, then do it on PRC , then lastly on satoshidice. All of which I think are trusted enough for 1btc

mixers are a good and fast way to become untraceable but the way that i found out to be working better than mixers is to exchange the coins to another altcoin. for example you can do this on shapeshift, and buy an altcoin, then move those to an exchanger and buy bitcoin with it and move it to your final wallet. in this way you only lose some money on trade fees and transaction fees but it would be more effective. but for the rest of us the mixers is more than enough

Do. Not. Work.I personally don't find a need for mixer or being untraceable as I'm not doing anything wrong. I understand some are paranoid and want to not be known that is understandable. Exchanges in us for example must follow KYC or they are money laundering that is a pretty big crime if you do it wrong,so they have to know. About as untrable as you get I think is mining. They are new coins coming from a pool. If you paid someone somehow to mine into a address for you.... hard to beat that as long as your payment to miner is not to traceable. Or you could mine it yourself even through a proxy or something if completely paranoid.

I am wondering whether it is possible to make Bitcoin transactions untraceable or not? As long as I know, Altcoins like Monero, BitcoinDark or Dash are using different concepts in order to make transactions untraceable. Is it also possible for Bitcoin by using some extra tools?
look at my signature you can use Bitmixer service if you want to make untraceable transaction, or you can use xapo all people can't trace your transaction, but only xapo can trace your transacation ( i think xapo is profesional, he will never share his database)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those altcoins, or at least function like them? Because if so, that isn't a solution -- that's like saying "you can send Bitcoin anonymously. Just convert Bitcoin to cash and pay the person in cash!"

If you want untraceable you should not have logs. There have been many places that people thought would not share but if right 3 letter agency shows up a lot of things change. I still think mining a new coin, and sending to a new address is the best cheapest way. You can run through proxy or VPN with no logs. And mine to it if done properly no one should know who it is just see coins in a address. I don't see point of bringing in mixers or other services when you can do it all yourself. And trust yourself 100 percent.
