The question is "Why did/are you get(ting) into bitcoins?"
I got into bitcoins because its the only e-currency I can get money to use in actual stores without a bank account. Paypal has screwed me over a lot 2 years ago and I can't access 80$ because of it. I don't like the fact that someone other than me has access to my money and has control over it (This one is the worst).

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

I first heard of it when someone who owed me some e-gold asked if I wanted to accept some bitcoins instead.

-it is p2p and I have been involved in other p2p projects in the past - nothing as awesome a Bitcoin though. -I saw that as the internet developed and continued to shrink the world and international trade between people (as opposed to businesses) became more common a "currency of the internet" would become invaluable, Bitcoin could fill that role. -It is an experiment and in beta - I have been involved in alpha and beta testing other things - something I enjoy. -I had an ATI HD GFX card and could get reward for participating (something seti and boinc never did for me all those years ) - I was mining before I realised I would need a wallet -There is a whole economy full of opportunity waiting to be developed - there might will be some money in this apart from mining -I had too much time on my hands being off work on extended sick leave - If not for Bitcoin I would probably have played COD on my trusty old 5770 these last 16 months lol ( now I can choose the best 2 of the 5 7970s I have here to xfire in my desktop when GPU mining is no longer viable, pretty good upgrade I think ) so for me more than 1 reason + a healthy dash of crazyness Cheers Graet

Because I like being in charge of my own money. I love open source, and I love distributed/decentralized projects. I love freedom. When I was finally convinced that bitcoin was not some elaborate scam, I fell in love with the concept.
I really don't know how I feel about a fixed supply currency still, but I've been warming to the idea ever since discovering bitcoin.
Bitcoin is a big part of what initially inspired me to study computer science.

P2P OpenSource Relay on math, not trust. At first I was like "How is this even possible ?" But then "Of course! The blockchain! Why haven't anyone invented this before?"

It has a lot of similarities to both gold and silver. Which I very much appreciate. The great thing is, is that it has these similarities but is also a e-currency. Nothing exactly like this exist and I believe it has developed a vibrant community. Can't wait to see where it ends up.

I'm in for the long term, because I believe Bitcoin will become a major worldwide currency, and I rather start adopting it now that bitcoins are still cheap.
1 BTC is essentially one 21millionth of the future world economy (at least the part that deals with bitcoins, which I expect to become quite a significant portion). I feel just fine having a few thousand units of that in my pocket. More importantly, I trust Bitcoin: Because I understand why it's completely safe, secure, fair, anonymous, and neither dependent on nor owned or controlled by a person or company or institution.

Yes, having a considerable amount of €€ stuck in so-called "fonds-based life insurances" and on my normal bank account is worrying me - you never know how "they" tick. It seems a great experiment and i want to be part of it - pity i became aware of it only 2 months ago
