I fully agree with you on this as having the best players in the world doesn't guarantee wins/championships. We have seen this many times before in many different sports and cricket is no different. The team needs to work together as a team if they want to succeed, we see on some occasions that certain players are just about them self and not for the team so this could be the case here.

To win matches, you need a good combination of the best players, captaincy and team effort. Franchises such as RCB are having good players, but their team bonding is not up to the mark. On the other hand, KXIP is one of the franchises which excels in team bonding.

That is the key to any teams success, I also think a strong captain who can control players egos is also the key to success. When the players are out there playing for the team and not for them self then that is when we see teams win. This might be one of the problems we have in the IPL as players are paid big sums of money to perform so they think mostly about their own performance rather then play for the team.

Kohli as a captain and a player is really humbled by the entire teams performance of this IPL, even with big names they could not even win a match, this is ridiculous, the match looks like fixed without a doubt, they were cruising really well when chasing and suddenly loosing wickets and ends up chocking rather than getting the win and now they can join their families soon.

Their bowling is also very weak and inconsistent, which is one of the main reason behind their failure. RCB has lost 3 matches due to the poor death bowling.

On paper, their bowling attack is quite strong with players such as Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee. But I have a feeling that they should have purchased one tearaway pace bowler during the auctions. Pat Cummins or Matt Henry could have done the job.

You have to remember IPL is played in Indian pitches and the best bowling attract does not mean that they need a tear away another fast bowler, they need to include a genuine second spinner and it can make a huge difference in these pitches, SRH plays two spinners and they have the best bowling attack in this entire tournament and they are winning matches simply they are bowling really well.

Rajasthan Royals have managed to win their match against Kings XI Punjab in spite of scoring just 158. Rajasthan Royals spinners managed to restrict Punjab to 143. You may be having a point here. Spinners do play a very important role in the Indian pitches. So in addition to Yuzvendra Chahal, they should have added another experienced spinner. Anyway... now it is too late for any of that.

I think this will be an interesting test match as it will Ireland's inaugural test match so it will be interesting to see how well they go playing their first ever test. Also there is going to be one of the oldest debutant playing in Ed Joyce who would be the oldest Test debutant this century at 39 years. Joyce will become the oldest Test debutant since South Africa's Omar Henry who debuted at 40 years old in 1992 and the oldest this century ahead of Australia's Bryce McGain who debuted in 2009 at the age of 36. So already there is a lot of history in this test match.

This time, Pakistan's middle order made the innings. Usually, if Pakistan's top order fails, the middle-order fails as well, but that didn't happen this time. Asad Shafiq's inning was quite a good one, but captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, yet once again, played a disappointing innings. He has been unable to get rid of "twenties" in each inning for a while now, if we take a look at his all matches from 2017-2018.

Let's see how the second day goes tomorrow.

Pakistan would have been a little bit worried, when they slipped to 159/6. Ireland could have hardly asked for a better start to their debut match. The continuous rain the previous day would also have helped the Irish bowlers. Thankfully for Pakistan, their lower middle order has bailed them out.
