England is already in the semi-finals. And Pakistan has only one point from two matches. So the fight is going to be between New Zealand and Pakistan for the sole-remaining semi-final slot. Sri Lanka is also in contention, if they can win both their remaining matches. They have a match against New Zealand today, but as usual there is a risk of rains happening. But these rains are likely to be intermitted and at least a partial game should be possible. If Sri Lanka can win today and also defeat Pakistan in their next match, then it will come to run rate. But at the moment, their run rate is also very poor.

Yeah it sounds impossible but if we look at the history so it is not new for Pakistan, most latest example in 2022 World Cup when Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe and India and no hopes, that time Pkaistan needs India to beat South Africa but one sided game for South Africa and another door were closed to Pakistan later on Netherlands beat to South Africa, can you imagine this term. And then Pakistan qualified for the finals just because of the Netherlands, yeah, they lost in the final against England, but still they qualified till there.

Yes, Sri Lanka team beated strong team like Australia in past but in super eight stage, Sri Lanka team lost two games in a row and has now removed. In NZ vs SL game, SL team won toss and they got chance to choose field and batting lineup first and they elected field first. NZ batsmen batted well and set target of 168 runs in 20 overs by losing 7 wickets. Tim one of opener batsmen of NZ team performed poor and made only 8 runs. Mitchell batsmen helped alot team to win this important super eight game and he made 47 runs in 26 balls and hitted two 4s and four 6s. Cole and Rachin batsmen also showed their good struggle and Cole made 31 runs and Rachin scored 32 runs. SL batsmen did not chase all runs and lost this 2 nd super eight game by big margin 61 runs. Rachin also bowled out 4 good wickets of SL team in 4 overs.

I am very disappointed to see Sri Lanka's consistent failure. Sri Lanka won three consecutive matches but lost the next three consecutive matches and were eliminated from the tournament. I did not expect such a poor performance from Sri Lanka at home. Sri Lanka lost by big margins in the last two matches, they lost to England by 51 runs and yesterday against New Zealand by 61 runs. In my opinion, the reason for Sri Lanka's defeat in the last two matches is the failure of the batsmen. Because England scored 146 runs which was not a very difficult target but Sri Lanka was all out for only 95 runs. Yesterday New Zealand scored 168 runs and Sri Lanka scored 107 runs. Actually, Sri Lanka's batsmen are not doing well consistently, no batsman could play a big innings in the important match yesterday. Anyway, New Zealand won and is one step ahead in the race to play the semi-finals and Pakistan is one step behind here. I think England and New Zealand will play the semi-finals from Group 2.

But here the problem is that Pakistan is so far behind in the NRR. They have a net run rate of -0.461, while New Zealand has a NRR of +3.050. In order to overtake the Kiwis, Pakistan needs a giant win (something like winning by 170-180 runs) and also they need New Zealand to lose heavily.

Today's in World Cup game South Africa defeated West Indies big margin. West Indies opens inning first with Shai Hope and Brandon King and among the openers Brandon king gives a positive start to the team by scoring 21 runs but Shai Hope scores only 16 runs and in middle order all the team was panicked but Jason Holder played a well innings of 49 runs and also Shepherd played a aggressive innings of 52 runs and at the end of the innings West Indies set a very strong target of 177 runs.
South Africa opens inning Aiden Markram and Quinton De Kock and both the openers  gives a very positive start to the team and Markram played a memorable innings of  82 runs and also De Kock played a well knock of 47 runs and in middle Ryan Rickelton played well  innings of 45 runs and South Africa can easily chase the target.
