I used to watch Asian Games Cricket tournament, because it was the only series which excluded imported players. But now this disease seems to have crept in to this particular tournament as well. Out of the 8 teams taking part in the Asian Games Men's Qualifier 2026, only 3 teams (China, Nepal and Malaysia) are having native players in their squad. Teams such as Bahrain and Qatar have now started providing "temporary citizenship" to imported players, so that they can take part in the Asian Games. This citizenship is valid only for the time duration the players are part of the national squad. Again, this is not something that can be encouraged.

There was a time when Pakistan relied completely on some specific players, meaning when those players performed well, the chances of Pakistan winning were high, starting from Shahid Afridi to many other big players.

In this 5 th game, Bahrain team won toss and they selected field first and gave batting opportunity to Oman team. Opener Mohammed opened line strongly and he made great progress and scored 81 runs in 51 balls and hitted seven 4s and six 6s. Sufyan and Shubaib batsmen also helped team to win game and Shuaib scored 32 runs in 30 balls and hitted two 4s and two 6s. Bahrain team failed to win this game and did not chase runs and lost game by 20 runs margin. Sameer bowler bowled out 2 wickets in 4 overs and 34 runs. Both Oman and Hong Kong have same points but due to NRR, Hong Kong rank is 1 st.

Only citizens are allowed to take part in the Asian Games, so strong associate teams such as the United Arab Emirates and Qatar were unable to send a squad for this series. Only 7 teams took part in total, out of which 4 qualified for the main event. In the main event, a total of 10 teams will take part.
