Football was cancelled for a few years during the world war, as in, totally cancelled, for both world wars. No one played as everyone was busy fighting or surviving.

I understand that but there’s a bit of a difference in severity between a world war & what is essentially a bad strain of flu that only seems to mostly affect older people.

I had a daydream that there was suddenly an vaccine, how quickly could things get spun back up then?

I think a few weeks. So a long wait it out or sudden unjam seems like 2 possibilities. Unjam would be cool.

For football lovers it is indeed very sad, even we can not expect to see the game in the near future, can only wait for a change in the direction of the better, hopefully the vaccine can be obtained soon and all returned to normal as usual.

It's indeed a very sad time... But we must make sure our loved ones and favorite players are safe and sound. Football will always come back.
By the way i am wondering how football was played back then during World War. Imagine players and spectators going to the stadiums having it at the back of their minds that any time they could be attacks

I heard the news that China will re-open their city on April. Has China found a vaccine so that the city is reopened? even though this virus clearly came from China.

Everyone feels the same as football lovers. We want to see the match again in the near future. Is it possible that large countries will find a vaccine to kill this corona virus?

Because in my country even more vigilant even their zone of the same league was postponed until the time has not been determined.

There is no way that it will be for 1 month.
Every league for the season 2019-2020 is already over. They can maybe play in the summer with a closed door.

Look at China where everyone was in quarantine after 3 months is still closed.

That's a good news and the best / fairest option, although the actual season may end in October...which is a little bit underestimated imo. The actual spread of the virus in UK did not reach the peak even until now..

Yeah for me this is good news too even though it was planned to start in June for me this is full of hope because English league lovers are certainly very later on, even though the match will be very tight and also not filled by the audience for me as long as it is broadcast on tv is also enough and its all can make me happy again.
The infected in the UK are not too large unlike Italy and Spain which continues to increase which is infected every day.
Hopefully this is the best way for EPL football,

This season supposed to be greatest liverpool season despite they failed to get an invincible season ... your lovely club could ended the season with several record breaking.

And of course with only 6 points to go to seal the EPL title we all knew that feeling when there's an update about how the premier league could be held behind closed doors.

At least there's some light although it's still uncertain.

With so close to the fulfillment of the season, playing in a closed stadium would have been a better option than stopping it all. But things are looking to come in under control and that can still be done in closed stadium. I don't see the league game with fans as people can't gather freely until a vaccine for the virus is made as the virus is going to circulate over and over again.

I read on soccernet and goal websites that it is for sure not going to be even May, so the earliest now is going to be June or July, and even then, yes as you say, without fans just televised matches. China lifted lockdown partially even though the infections are going down but they want to be perfectly safe. And they did complete lockdown, unlike Europe that started so slowly.

This has to be the biggest news for all football fans and also sports gamblers. I am really looking forward to match after match EPL and other leagues and hopefully this plan will be realized in the following months.

For me it does not matter if the match is not witnessed live by the audience and carried out in private which will only be broadcast on tv, due to conditions that do not allow. The world is still trying to continue to fight the virus pandemic so that its spread subsides, doing sports activities that are watched directly by fans will only make things worse. and I hope the option to hold a closed game is the right effort to be implemented and get support from the government.

That's a sad news. Spain is one of the worst affected coronavirus countries. Coronavirus is really affecting the health of old people really fast. Really unfortunate and sad for Pep.

So sad for Pep and any footballer who contracted the virus,,, I still do not know anyone who has had the virus yet, but I have to say that a lot of cases already detected near me in my neighborhoods so eventually someone I know will get it. I feel really sad for Pep, and it makes it even more sad when we read about players like Kyle Walker doing what he did. Stay strong everyone.

'Finish the season no matter how long it takes'

Taylor said completing the season remains "top of the agenda" and that everybody in the game, including broadcasters, needs to be flexible, "no matter how long it takes."

He added that players "would talk about [wage] deferrals in the hope that we could keep this season going eventually" in the current talks.

He suggested that, with the 2022 World Cup set to take place in Qatar in November and December, the current season could be finished this winter, with the 2021 campaign taking place during the calendar year.

"It needs to have ideas that come from left of stage to deal with what is a unique situation," Taylor said.

If the season needs to be completed behind closed doors, Taylor said players would understand there would be no gate receipts and that different discussions would then need to take place.

"If we can't play in front of full stadiums then the different scenarios would be looked at at the time," he said.

also in there is a debate on 30% wage cut. Seems weird to me to single football players out. They all have different paymasters its not the government responsibility to be paying them all.

Very concerned and sad to hear this news about the death of Pep Guardiola's mother due to being infected with the corona virus so this really should be increased our awareness of the environment because we do not know whether this virus is attached or not. So pathetic.

I hope Pep and the players are doing well when the pandemic is still going on and still securing themselves according to what has been determined by the authorities.
