what cryptoocurrency do you think it will replace bitcoin if and I say bitcoin goes down for one reason ? im afraid this will happen after all this things about bitcoinXT , censorship on reddit about it , people can't agree on one thing and this could be the reason of it's death and that's my opinion only and most of people may lose their coins if they don't know what they are doing
i don't think that Ethereum have a chance either, on the last hour according to marketcap it was like 65 million USD now it became 75$ million USB , alot of pumping going on and im more then sure it's nothing but regular manipulation that rich people do all the time with different coins .
If bitcoin project will failed , all crypto currency coins will failed .......... but if it could achieve successfully the alternatives are dash and monero I respect your opinion, but I don't believe that to be the case at all. When Myspace failed, did Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, etc. fail after it's demise? No. I truly believe there will be multiple currencies like owm123 said, and bitcoin won't be one of them within 2-3 years from now. I feel like there will still be a demand for crypto currencies if/when bitcoin fails, just like there was still a demand for social media after myspace failed.

It's bitcoin. That's the form of cryptocurrency adopted by the world. None of the altcoins will ever surpass bitcoin. Will there be alternatives? Yes of course. But none of them will surpass bitcoin as the cryptocurrency adopted by the world.

This statement is so naive. I would have first thought you were new to crypto because of the ignorance in the comment, but you're a hero member. Huh???

A lot of things which are illogical are happening and I don't get it , for example how the hell Ripple price is so high why I don't se anyone speaking about, DASH have more potentials

Bitcoin is not going anywhere. Who thinks this, please go here to check how many times bitcoin already "died": https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoinobituaries/But bitcoin is also not a solution to all possible use cases. It has problems with fungibility, privacy and anonymity for examples. Thus, coins (e.g. monero, dash, etc) which provide solutions to these problems can take second or third spot in crypto market.

Those that does easily manipulate price and with price also the capitalization. Dash is similar.

In 2011, American Express spent $2.22 billion on ads
This was a 62.8% increase from 2009.
TV: $228 million
Magazines: $63 million
Newspapers: $130 million
Internet: $132 million
Other: $1.67 billion
How much did bitcoin spend on advertising last 12 months? Here is the problem.

That's part of the problem , how people can spend BTC on TV if TV dosen't accept Bitcoins ? how can they spend on magazines aswell if magazines dosen't accept Bitcoins ? etc ... So we need companies that do such of thing then we ask our self's the question you just asked .

I posted this in a similar topic in the main BTC forum earlier...
Bitcoin will be around for a while yet! Regardless of the outcome of the (storm in a tea cup) block size change that is required.
It'll be at least 1-2 years before there is anything challenging its #1 spot and it certainly wont be any of the current alternatives.
Many of those have the same basic limitations as BTC, or at best marginally improve them. Some of them might find niche markets, Ethereum for example, but most will just fade away while being perpetually replaced by "new" alternatives that offer no significant improvements over what BTC can do.
There are a couple of technologies on the horizon that may pose a threat long term, and plenty of minds (including mine) are working on finding ways to implement real "giant leap" improvements. The problem with research is it's slow work, 2 years and counting for me, more for others, and as far as I know its going to be at least 6 months before any of these exotic technologies are ready to go full steam ahead. Even then there is the task of ramp up and roll out, which is again time consuming and expensive.
But, whatever it is, you'll know it when it finally arrives.
i agree 100% ..especially that last line.

"ever" is a dangerous word. Bitcoin will stick around for a while at the top. But blockchain tech is inefficient, it requires much redundancy and energy. Eventually it will be replaced by a completely decentralized currency without blockchain. It does not exist yet, but it's the next logical step.

speaking about maidsafe , where this crypto currency is accepted exactly ? or we can't use it until the Maidsafe project is launched and working ? honestly same goes for ethereum & monero I don't see any online shops accepting them , if it's just to hold and trade then I don't see what's the point if im not going to use it as currency (real one)

A while ago: Your picture only tells me cryptocurrencies are in a bear market. Only Ripple manage to remain steady but it is dropping from a few months ago. The rest of the coins on the top 7 have crashed by a lot.

guys talking about Bitcoin advertising earlier made a great point ! adoption isn't going to come out of thin air for no reason. i think so far the driving force to new users has been people who come to make money off it all. we don't have people showing up at Bitcointalk etc because they want to use a digital currency. those people are out there unaware this stuff exists for the most part and we have to get to them and bring them in. and unless this crypto scene is cleaned up and focused i don't see that happening. we already have a black eye from SilkRoad alone never mind Gox etc etc..
