I called it for Biden as the Dem pick within a few days of starting to look into this stuff.  To be fair, that thought was to some extent implanted by TYT who is something of a one-stop-shop for predictive programming by TPTB.  Anyway it makes sense since it has been painfully clear for a while now that Clinton doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell against Trump.

I'm not sure that Bernie was a complete failure.  He won a lot of states and didn't take any big donations.  He was up against the Clinton machine which was an uphill climb.  I also think that his supporters are paving the way for the next election.  Not for Bernie, but for the next non-establishment candidate on the democratic side (Warren maybe?).

That does not exist.

Warren especially.

The failure of bernie was his will not to fight harpy clinton, not to refuse the help from moveon.org, the absolute clinton machine. He swallowed the poison pill. In reality it was a show: clinton was already chosen by the DNC.

The same happened on the GOP side as you may know. Bush was the chosen one.

You mean the next poser.

Both Warren and Saunders are as establishment as it gets.

Well, we'll see. The prediction markets and my own guts say it's Hillary's election to lose.

Anyhoo, it's not like I have any real horse in the match.

She was. But they had to make some effort to stop bernie. No debates at first. Then debates at odd times. Purging of voter rolls. Or unwanted changes in party affiliation. Polls opening hours late in some places. Ridiculous deadlines to register to vote like in new york. Which passed before people knew the candidates. Closing of lots of voting places in some states. Like two thirds in arizona. Despite knowing more people would be voting. Declaring clinton the winner with 1% of vote counted and lots of people still waiting to vote. Etc.

You missed the part when bernie was accused of hacking in the clinton election database and he got locked out from the DNC for a while.

The market does not predict harpy being in trouble from the FBI? How predictable was the market regarding TRUMP 4, 5 months ago?

The market does not predict harpy being in trouble from the FBI? How predictable was the market regarding TRUMP 4, 5 months ago?

I'm glad you mentioned that. I placed a bet with my dad last fall that Trump would snag the Pubbie nom; it was a gentleman's bet. I gave him even odds even though I could have negotiated a 4-1 payout for myself based on the implied odds for him winning the nom back then.

But a gentleman's bet is a gentleman's bet. And like a gentleman, my dad paid off the bet after Super Tuesday. Smiley

To be frank, I've been dismissing all that "contested convention" fol-de-rol as nothing more than sensationalistic clickbait. Trump's the same negotiator he's always been, and he would have get it on the second ballot with one simple negotiation were he not to get it on the first ballot.

I was expecting him to come a wee bit short on the first but snap it up on the second by agreeing to put Ted Cruz on the ticket as his VP choice. That would have been a Trump-level negotiation. The advantage for The Donald would be threefold:

1. On the second ballot, he'd have a near-unanimous majority. Just ask yourself what The Donald would do with that in the general.
2. Trump the businessman has hired people that had fought him earlier, provided that they fought him skilfully. Regardless of what you think of Ted Cruz's character, his organization has been very skillful at working the delegate system. If Donald picks Ted as his running mate, Teddy will be put in charge of GOTV.
3. Given that we now know that Sen. Cruz  has a dark side, Trump could use him as the Trump Administration's hatchet man.

And I'm quite sure that Trump is supremely confident in his ability to smooth over his supporters' ruffled feathers if he were to choose Cruz.

----------

To get back to the general: the same "gut" that told me The Donald would get the Pubbie nom is telling me that the election is Hillary's to lose. Why? In a nutshell, Trump's negatives are the kind that are going to be hard to get rid of. Hillary's will be less difficult because she's "the devil you know". Much of the dirt on her is past its sell-by date, and some of it is way past its sell-by date. If you were Joe Moderate, how would you like to hear a Trump caller regaling you about the Monica Lewinsky scandal of 1998?  Huh

Plus, there's the Obama factor. Hard for you to believe, but a lot of folks still like him and some still look up to him. Guess how he's going to weigh in?

TRUMP did not play the monica card, harpy did by attacking TRUMP, calling him sexist. TRUMP is a judoka. He needs to be attacked first to use your own energy back at you. Right now a drug dealer from the mexican cartel, a catholic pope, a seating US president, lots of european leaders, all called publicly for his scalp, or worse. He's still standing.

Check the date I started the Up like TRUMP thread... This is when I believed he was there for the win, so will shall see.

Funny, I forgot I was in the bernie thread... Berniebots used to keep it up for me while I was asleep, but it seems they know it is over...

Clinton at 70% and Trump at 26%? A few weeks ago Trump was in single digits, and Clinton was above the 90% mark. And more importantly, a new opinion poll by Rasmussen Reports has Clinton tied with Trump with 38% support each, for the General Election. Things can change. A lot of people are undecided. A third (independent) candidate can change everything.

You miss the central point - a vote for Hillary is a vote for an end of the rule of law.
