Why would a tax on the super rich cause riots? And didn't the us have some tax bracket like that in the past? If I remember correctly it was even higher for the wealthier.

Insane tax rates are not going to work. The super-rich will just migrate to some other country, taking their assets and businesses with them. Millions of American citizens will be left without a job, and this will cause social unrest.

You are right when you say that in the past the tax rates were high. For example, in 1944 the tax was 94% for those in the top-most slab (annual income greater than $200,000). However, such high rates can't be implemented today. It is not practical.

Not sure how much worse it would be as things are going. Many of the businesses that would leave already avoid taxes through all the loopholes. And end up paying little of what they should. The burden being shifted to ordinary people with time. And much of the money the rich have isn't circulating in the economy. Except for occasionally buying a jet or two. And for financial gambling.

...

With a 'one-world' political and monetary system, where are these 'super-rich' going to go?

In practice they will probably go anywhere they like and be quite happy since it is they who will be designing the system, but this will certainly be an element of the sales pitch used to sell it to the Bernie-bot class.  As Thatcher says, Socialism works OK until you run out of other people's money.  Making sure that said 'other people' cannot escape before being fleeced will have a powerful marketing potential.

Not that sanders is proposing this. But I would go for something like codetermination for example. And promoting cooperatives and things like that. Make sure workers are represented when decisions about the business they work in are made. That would impose limits on what the owners could do. Sure. But it isn't fleecing them. And would have real impact in the life of most people, not just marketing. And it isn't new. Nor codetermination, cooperatives, etc. Nor the need to limit businesses. Like not allowing child labor, sexual exploitation of workers, etc.

A video was posted to YouTube by ‘Lawyerman’ that shows the complete attack by a horde of Mexican flag waving #NeverTrump thugs on a woman wearing a ‘Trump 45’ jersey just outside a Marriott hotel in San Jose following a rally by presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday.

The 2:59 video shows the mob advancing as the woman retreats toward to the main entrance of the Marriott. The woman is seen showing the mob she is not intimidated by gesturing to and showing off her ‘Trump 45’ jersey.

For that she was set upon by the angry mob. The man filming the mob fled after the first barrage but continued filming through the safety of the glass walls of the Marriott lobby.

The woman in the ‘Trump 45’ jersey approached the doors but was not let in even as she was pelted with eggs and the braying, Mexican-flag wielding mob inched ever closer to her. Security guards can be seen pulling the doors closed as she tries to get in. Even as she retreated, the woman defied the mob, not backing down in her support of Trump’s candidacy.

The woman moved to another door of the Marriott entrance where she was backed into a corner. After receiving more abuse, she was finally let in the lobby.

It is notable that no one attempted to protect the woman from the violent anti-Trump protesters. She showed more guts than any security man in uniform there or any other so-called man witnessing the attack.

After being let in, in a final act of defiance the woman gave the mob one more look at her ‘Trump 45’ jersey before being led away by a Marriott staffer.

I read in a column somewhere that Marcuse's point in writing Repressive Tolerance was that the Weimar Republic should have cracked down hard on the Nazis: his argument hinged on this point, in that free speech is 'repressive' because it allows people like Hitler to get through & take over.

When I read that, I realized that Marcuse was one of those guys who got stuck in an awful past & yearned to refight a huge battle long lost in which the bad guys won. Had he been around & published his work today, it'd be surprisingly easy to flip off his work in a kindly way.

Namely: "This book Repressive Tolerance was written by a man afflicted with post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the horrors of Nazism and the Holocaust. The poor fellow is locked into a psychological time warp common in PTSD sufferers. Should be of interest to amateur psychologists and those who want to see what suffering from PTSD does to a full-fledged scholar."

The above is the gentle way to keep his type from stirring up trouble. Heck, it might well be true.

Bernie's wrecking crew

Sanders' New York delegation is threatening to sow chaos on the convention floor.

Call them Hillary’s home-state haters.

A group of rabble-rousing Bernie Sanders supporters from New York is headed for the Democratic National Convention next month as hand-picked, at-large delegates -- and they’re threatening to make trouble for Hillary Clinton at the very moment she hopes to make history as the first female nominee of either party and unite Democrats for the coming battle with Donald Trump.

The disgruntled Sanders delegation, heading to Philadelphia with deep reservations about Clinton’s brand of center-left pragmatism, serves as a reminder of how contentious the four-day meeting could become, and a warning to Democrats of the importance of bringing Sanders happily into the fold.

Some 20,000 protesters are reportedly planning anti-Clinton protests outside of the convention hall. But interviews with members of Sanders’ New York delegation reveal that supporters of the Vermont senator are also considering bringing some of those protests inside the Wells Fargo Center itself — raising the prospect of an embarrassing spectacle on prime-time TV.

These are not the kind of people who just fall in line.

Sorry, I can't remember where (or when) I found it. Those earlier thoughts were my own, not the columnist's. From what I remember, the column was one of those bash-Marcuse jobbies.

Bill Clinton Heckled, Interrupted in L.A.

Sunday at a campaign event in East Los Angeles Former President Bill Clinton’s speech was interrupted by a screaming group of Bernie Sanders’ supporters. Once Clinton regained control of the room, according to Fox News’s Fin Gomez, Clinton responded, “If I were them, I’d be screaming too because they know they will be toast by election day.”

Sanders supporters angry as Clinton wins sufficient backing

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Bernie Sanders assured his outraged supporters that he intends to win Tuesday's primary in California and beyond as Hillary Clinton secured the commitments of enough delegates to become the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

Campaigning in San Francisco Monday, Sanders declined to speculate to reporters about what a poor showing in Tuesday's primaries might mean to his presidential campaign. "Let me just talk to you after the primary here in California where we hope to win. Let's assess where we are after tomorrow," he said.

Hours later, at an evening rally at Crissy Field in the Presidio, Sanders steered clear of reports from The Associated Press and multiple television networks that Clinton had reached the 2,383 delegates needed to become the presumptive Democratic nominee. She has 1,812 pledged delegates won in primaries and caucuses, and the support of 571 superdelegates.

Sanders' supporters expressed disappointment that the calls were made before California's primary and urged the senator to continue on despite the pronouncements.

"We're going to keep fighting until the last vote is counted," said Kristen Elliott, a Sanders' supporter from San Francisco who attended the rally.

Said another attendee, Patrick Bryant of San Francisco: "It's what bookies do. They call fights before they're over."

He said the campaign's job is to convince the superdelegates that the Vermont senator is "by far the strongest candidate against Donald Trump." He said calling the Democratic contest before superdelegates formally vote at the convention was a "rush to judgment."

Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs said Clinton's support was dependent upon superdelegates who could still change their minds between now and the July convention.

Sanders' tone was more subdued before reporters after saying over the weekend that the Democratic convention would be contested if no one wins the nomination based solely on delegates awarded in the primaries and caucuses. Sanders also faced new questions about the future of his campaign amid reports that President Barack Obama was readying an endorsement of Clinton.

Sanders and Clinton are competing in contests in six states on Tuesday, headlined by California, the nation's largest state, offering 475 pledged delegates. Clinton, a former New York senator, is heavily favored in Tuesday's New Jersey primary and winning a share of the state's 142 pledged delegates would likely put her over the top.

Obama, who bested Clinton in 2008 during her first bid for the Democratic nomination, is preparing to formally endorse her and start aggressively making the case against Trump. White House officials said the announcement could come within days, although not before Tuesday's elections.

Obama called Sanders on Sunday as he campaigned in California, a Democrat familiar with the call told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss the private conversation, and would not reveal any details about it.

Asked by reporters in San Francisco if he had talked to Obama, Sanders demurred. "I have spoken to President Obama many, many times about many issues, and I really think it's not appropriate to talk about my discussions with the president," he said. "I try to keep that private."

Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, who has won 20 states and pushed the heavily favored Clinton for the nomination, has outlined plans to influence the party platform and try to persuade superdelegates that he would fare better than Clinton against presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Sanders has previously said that Clinton should not be deemed the party's nominee because she would be relying on superdelegates — party officials and elected leaders — who do not actually vote until the Democratic National Convention.

But he did not make that case to reporters Monday, instead focusing on Tuesday's outcome. Rallying supporters at City College of San Francisco's Mission Center, Sanders said Clinton's voters were more reliable and he would need a large turnout among recently registered voters, independents and young people.

While Clinton has been in the driver's seat for the nomination for weeks, a victory by the front-runner in California would give Sanders much less leverage as he seeks to sway superdelegates.

Sanders has campaigned intensively in California for more than two weeks straight, blanketing the state with rallies and events in 34 cities aimed at talking directly to thousands of voters at a time.

He capped the day with a concert rally featuring singer Dave Matthews and then was traveling to Los Angeles on Tuesday for the primary. Sanders said he would return home to Vermont on Wednesday.

^^^ Bernie and Hitlery were neck-and-neck in the opinion polls, before Hitlery bribed the MSM to release the fake news of her securing the nomination a day before the California primaries. The effect is reflecting in the results. Right now, Hitlery is leading Sanders by almost 20% margin, with more than one-third of the votes counted. All over for Sanders.
