Hi guys,
First of all, how is this coin still so undervalued?? (easy x10 if you ask me)
What is the expected ROI if I stake around 8k coins?

Closest thing to "staking" would be voting for delegates that will pay for those who vote for them.
There is at least one:

https://pool.shiftnrg.org/

I guess you could compare payouts from a voter address with about 8k... Currently 8k looks to be about 0.32% of the pool voters. I believe 32 Shift/day is what a delegate should earn if it manages to forge all blocks, so about 0.1 Shift per day with the current rate and assuming no pool fee.

Could also run your own delegate. A delegate needs enough votes to be in the top 101 in order to Forge. Each forging delegate has the opportunity to earn the same amount, this depends on the delegate maintaining its vote weight in the top 101, running smoothly and having the correct version of software.

Quote from Dev Ralf on Ryver:

"Hi, you can't really compare the development of Maid with Shift. But you might be able to compare the results soon. Many coins/devs offer ideas, but they are way to optimistic about getting the work actually done.

I think we are running a realistic project here. Building a bridge to combine today's best web technologies into a product with endless possibilities:

IPFS is an amazing tool for p2p hosting and browsing, and so much more. Take a look at IPLD for example, great future ahead.
LISK has build a great blockchain codebase with dpos consensus, plus the ability to create sidechains for dapps. Grown really stable the last couple of months.

So a small team of 4 to 6 people here work on Shift on a daily basis. But many many more devs building the technologies behind it. 1+1=3
We couldn't do it without you, our 150 delegates and 560+ community members."

Exciting future ahead

Love this coin, not sure why this thread is not more active Tongue I guess it is because it's still fairly unknown (2nd page of coinmarketcap doesn't help either).

It looks like we're breaking upwards once again after remaining sideways/stable during the bitcoin rise. Start of the next bullish wave?

big hodler of maidsafe and shift here.... any idea on the volume spike today? how is dev progress going?

I know maid is non-blockchain and shift is ethereum blockchain. what other ways do the two projects differ?

also any other coins that are doing the same thing as shift and maid? how similar is siacoin and storj ?

Looking for the next 10x Small Cap for Q2 2018? $XBY (dApp Platform, New PoSign Algorithm), $SHIFT (dPoS Decentralized Web 3.0 on IFPS) & $BLOCK (Blockchain Agnostic DeX, atomic swaps)

shift is based on lisk blockchainnot eth or I missed something??  Maid and shift cant rely be compared to each other. They differ in huge ways. Sia and storjoin are more similar to me but maybe thats because Im not that familiar with both. I know that storj is using collered coin approach on counterparty and is planning to shift to ethereum and is holding a ico or is planning one. Dont know why sia had a major surge but I thought it was a lot cheaper to store data on sia network than storj maybe thats why they decided to switch to eth. So as far as I know shift is more focussed on dec web but does not have a 100% garantee data will be stored forever while the ambition of maid is much more but still has a long way to go and therefore a lot of people see it as a to ambitious pipedream. Im a firm believer in maid but your patients are being tested with this project on the other hand if it succeed it will be huge and I think project like sia en storj will no longer be relevant since data storage will be much cheaper on maid than with their approach. I see room for shift and maid to exist together since they differ a lot and shift uses tech that is already available today. Not that familiar with shift like with maid so dont take my word for it Wink still holding a fair amount of shift and am a supporter of the project recommended several people as a good long term project some time ago. Still a good entry point I think with todays price

How do Maidsafe and Shift differ a lot? I am not well versed in the technical details, but on the surface Shift sounds like an interesting project.

The Maidsafe website talks about files being split into parts and distributed throughout the network, Shift talks about 101 delegates - are files also split into parts like Maidsafe?

Why is there a limit of 101 delegates? - does Maidsafe also have such a limit? It seems having the files spread across more hosts would be more secure.

I am also wondering, does shift have it's own associated domain suffix? Is there a way that the use of a DNS is not required?

Sorry for potentially naive questions, perhaps they have been already answered but this is quite a large thread.

-Shift and Maidsafe's final products will be similar I believe. Here's a quote (copy+paste) from Ralf, one of the lead devs, from the Ryver channel;

"Hi, you can't really compare the development of Maid with Shift. But you might be able to compare the results soon. Many coins/devs offer idea's, but they are way to optimistic about getting the work actually done.

I think we are running a realistic project here. Building a bridge to combine todays best web technologies into a product with endless possibilities.

LISK has build a great blockchain codebase with dpos consensus, plus the ability to create sidechains for dapps. Grown really stable the last couple of months."

-I'm not sure of if files will be split up or not, but I know the intent is to decentralize web hosting, so the files will be distributed around the network.

-There is no limit on delegates, I think technically there can be any number that's uneven so you can't hit a 50/50 consensus and break off into two chains. For example, I think ARK has 51 and it's also based on the LSK DPOS system. 101 was likely chosen since that's what LSK had and it provided a good opportunity to have a lot of forging spots without being an unreachable number for Shift at the time. Not sure on how Maidsafe will run it. The 101 delegates are mainly for keeping the chain running, they will not be the only ones who can host data. Once Phantom is released I think anyone will be able to host data and earn Shift to some extent. I don't have a direct quote for this one, but I think I remember it being said in the Ryver channel.

-Not sure on this one, but I recall it being discussed in the Ryver channel at one point.

When will IPFS be ready?

Before Jun 30

Who said before June 30th?

No one knows for sure. The team is working on it and prefers to take their time and release a quality product instead of rushing it and releasing a poor product.

IS ALMOST READY, look at the price, they post something about it in the ryver chat, i love it, this is the most under-valuated coin of all cryptospace, i can't believe DOGE have a    $344M marketcap, and we are under $10M.

Cool I'm in agreement about SHIFT being the most undervalued. I'd like to be a delegate but the 60 it costs would de-leverage me too much. However..if I can share my top cryptos, you might like/donate to my "delegation" funding address.  Shocked
