It's a single HIS 280x OC 1200Mhz and memory 1700Mhz
LOL, your card will not last long

Its a HIS R9 280X iPower IceQ X² Turbo Boost Clock 3GB

Working @78º Celsius

78C is a little high, but within proper operating rate. When you get around 82 to 85, start worrying. I stayed with 1050 core at 1500 memory. My temp stay in the 69 to 75 C through the day with no AC.

throttling starts @100°c
78°c isn't a problem. Maybe the chip dies after 10 years, instead of fifteen.

Most gpu's are durable and true they will throttle down to a point, but the fans usually fail when running temps higher that 80+ C. Because at those temps the fans that keep running more than 75% will fail usually prematurely.

If you don't adjust fanspeed, yes.
but @80°c, you can slow down most fans on 50%-70%, depends on cooler design.
my fans getting full speed @95°c.

When I start shift with:

Code:
shift-windows-amd64.exe --rpc --rpcaddr 192.168.1.220 console

I don't get to connect to any peers (admin.peers shows zero).
I have forwarded port 53900 on the router (it looks like this is what shift is using)
but no luck. How long will it take to connect to some peers or can I add them manually?

You guys probably have the same issue:

From ETH:
Code:
The Diff Increase Issue has been identified to a bug in geth, this is now fixed and I've updated to the latest version:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/3jcs5r/code_avg_block_time_vs_difficulty_adjustment/cuoi4op

Diff should go down now.

The issue with difficulty increasing in infinity is solved. Ethereum have also patched this. Their (Ethereum) bug caused me to totally freak out.. spent many hours on this and solved it before them. A special thx to a guy in PM, you will of course be rewarded for this.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO UPGRADE THEIR NODE TO THE LATEST VERSION OF SHIFT. THIS IS A CRITICAL UPDATE.

The latest binarys can be found here: https://github.com/shiftcurrency/shift-executables

If people do not upgrade we will have an increasing difficulty in infinity, you will only loose money in hashing power. All the core bootstrap nodes are already updated.

More info here: https://blog.ethereum.org/2015/09/03/security-alert-implementation-bug-in-go-clients-causing-increase-in-difficulty-fixed-miners-check-and-update-go-clients-if-necessary/

Kind regards

On Linux.

Can someone explain why if I clone the Github repo, execute "make shft", and then start "build/bin/shift":
 - it doesn't sync to the blockchain
 - the version is 1.0.1  (shift version)

But, if I download the linux binary, it shows version 0.2.0 (and it syncs)

Which source code has been used to compile the binaries Huh

Do a git pull on the source. You are using an old source.

I would like to add that this is not a bug from Shift but from upstream geth implementation of Ethereum. More info here https://blog.ethereum.org/2015/09/03/security-alert-implementation-bug-in-go-clients-causing-increase-in-difficulty-fixed-miners-check-and-update-go-clients-if-necessary/

Our main dev has been up all night and we found this bug shortly before it got fixed on ethereum itself. We've actually identified the source of the problem but due to lack of manpower were unable to get it out sooner.

Still not able to mine at normal speed guys. This coin sucks!

I doubt its the coin.. If you cannot get pool mining working correctly, go solo, the blocktime is so fast that you still get blocks solo

Could you update the pool message with the post on upgrade ?Smiley thx
