I get your point, but that's wrong at all. Not sure where did you get that theory. First of all, let's separate the remaining contract duration and the desire of the wanting club on the player as the key aspects on football transfer. As I believe that we are discussing the second one, then we can ignore the desire of the interested team. So, imagine if in your team, there is one player who has 1 remaining season left in his contract. It means that in the next season, he can leave the club for free. Then, instead of getting 0$ in the next year from this player, you could get some good amount of money by selling him with fair fee. Because of what? Yeah if you keep putting high cost on this player, the interested teams will just wait until the player contract expired in next season. Why you risk of not getting any pennies by putting high price on a player whose contract about to expire next year?

Let me give you an example. Shinji Kagawa, brought by Man Utd from Dortmund with a bargain fee, afaik it was under $20M, while his value was higher at that time. This is an interesting statement from Glasner. I actually saw the game and do get what he is saying, but I am not sure I completely agree. What is so special about Napoli this season is that they have an unbelievable balance in the team and their movements are perfect for essentially 90 minutes of the game. But they are still emphasizing a strong defensive and compact approach to the game. What just doesn't happen very often is that you have an offender who is as fast as Osimhen combined with those extraordinary wingers and covered by a central midfielder like Lobotka, who ran like a horse, attacked and defended and literally didn't lose a single head to head duel.

The whole team just makes sense in terms of all the individual abilities every players brings about. It is no coincidence that they are achieving these results this season. So when Glasner says they are playing anti-Italian, the only difference I can see is that they have an offensive style that is just so outstanding because they have the perfect players, but it is still the best defense in Serie A as well.
