I think everyone thinks the same as you even though Lukaku was a talented striker in the past but if we compare his abilities Victor Oshimen is actually better if seen from all sides if Antonio Conte uses these 2 players in the front line, Napoli will most likely be stronger in attack and their chances of competing in the Serie A title hunt will be greater but using these two players at the same time is not good for Napoli's finances because Oshimen has a high salary so Antonio Conte had to choose one and he chose Lukaku who felt more suited to the coach's tactics, but I don't really expect much from Napoli's performance this season even though Antonio Conte is the best coach in Serie A but Napoli is not a club that can be built easily.

Yes I know Osimhen performed much better than Lukaku last season. Even in the 2022-23 season Osimhen performed brilliantly. Osimhen scored 26 goals and one assist in the 2022–23 season. And Lukaku scored only 10 goals. So in all statistics Osimhen is ahead of Lukaku. However, Conte's favorite player is Lukaku. Napoli management keep Lukaku in their squad. Napoli management was not interested in Osimhen because of his high wages.

However, we don't know if Lukaku can do well next season. However, he managed to score in the first match with Napoli. If this streak continues, it will certainly bode well for Napoli.

You are right maybe Conte has a big plan with Lukaku, but I am not sure if relying on Lukaku alone everything will be fine. I mean if Conte really has a good plan for Napoli, he should think long term to keep getting contribution from a professional player. As we often talk here if in the long term Osimhen is more beneficial for Napoli than Lukaku, but the problem is there is a problem behind it all that makes Napoli have to sell and do not want Osimhen to stay in the team. In the next 10 games we will see how Lukaku performs and how Napoli performs with the players that Conte expects. If everything looks bad, it seems like Napoli will not be easy to compete for success this season.

Do you think Lukaku can be a candidate for top scorer in the Serie A this season? Honestly I don't feel like that will happen. Because his brightest season was the 2020/21 and he scored 24 goals back then. If it weren't for Ronaldo he could have been the top scorer. But since that season, he has been only able to score 10-15 goals in the league. 

Reuniting with Conte might be some extra motivation for him to play better maybe. But still it is difficult to predict that. By the way the last top scorer Lautaro Martinez has started horrible with 0 goals so far. I hope he improves because Inter need his contribution a lot.

Honestly I feel quite sad when I see these two strikers changing each other in the match because both are quite great in my opinion and have a good track record, when one is useless and sees only a few weaknesses for the coach then of course it will not be used even though their abilities are almost the same.

But on the other hand there is also a good thing, where these two strikers will be like competing, both must give their best so that they can be trusted to play more on the field, of course if there is no further conflict just as motivation for one another Napoli should be able to get their victory back well with Lukaku and Osimhen.

You are right maybe Conte has a big plan with Lukaku, but I am not sure if relying on Lukaku alone everything will be fine. I mean if Conte really has a good plan for Napoli, he should think long term to keep getting contribution from a professional player.

Whatever plan Conte builds for Napoli with Romelu Lukaku, it should be a smaller plan than four seasons ago when they worked together in Inter Milan. 4 and 5 years ago, Lukaku was younger and a better player than now so Conte's plan around Lukaku must be different too. It is reflected by total goals scored by Lukaku in latest seasons after leaving Inter Milan years ago, even he returned to Serie A and played for Inter Milan, AS Roma, he scored less goals in a season than before.

Each player is different and not all coaches can match the style of a player like Lukaku so it is indeed clear at Chelsea that Lukaku does not fit there.

Lukaku is indeed a player who has characteristics and he has good quality but in the last few seasons his performance has decreased drastically so what Conte is doing now I think is something very dangerous and Conte's excessive trust in Lukaku could be a disaster for Conte in developing the performance of the Napoli team

Lukaku already shown that he could absorb tactical philosophy of Conte very well years ago and he will have no big problem to work with Conte again. Maybe with worse individual performances from Lukaku than before, Conte will have to adjust his plan, and use Lukaku in a different role that includes not only scoring goal task but supporting his team mates in different ways.
