Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A)

The race for Champions League qualification is currently underway in the Italian league. Milan and Roma have become the other two teams in the top four of the Champions League standings after Juventus's home defeat in the final week. With only one match remaining, we will witness the battle for a Champions League spot. Juventus shouldn't have suffered that defeat at home. Their chances of qualifying now depend on a miracle.

With the exception of Juve, for me, only 3 teams are battling for UCL spots. And all of them have an easy schedule as it seems at first, but it won't be like that. Roma have lost their last 2 encounters away against Verona. It is true that Verona have been relegated, but I still think that in the last game in Serie A, Verona will give it their all and possibly mess with Roma's plans. Como also play away against Cremonese, who are battling for survival against Lecce, so that's also not an easy match. And the last is Milan, who for me are maybe a safe bet to win against a demotivated Cagliari.

This creates some really interesting situations in my opinion, matches that are not predictable even if they are perhaps nasty and physical.

Como against Cremonese for the last round is gonna be the best match to see because both teams plays for something and for something really big, in one side Como who plays for his first Champions Leaguea appeareance which could be historic and in the other side the Cremonese plays to saty in SerieA so is gonna be a final i want to see that game for sure.

Como may try to win this game, but even if they do, it will probably only keep them in the Europa League zone, because Roma and Milan are also likely to win their matches. And if we take into account that Cremonese are playing at home and need to win in order to stay in Serie A, these kinds of matches are always very difficult. Even though Cremonese are currently in the relegation zone, in a survival match like this they can still perform very well. But personally, I think that in games like these it’s better to look at markets other than the winner, such as yellow cards or maybe even red cards.

Champions Inter drew 1-1 at home against Hellas Verona. We already know that Hellas Verona has been relegated, but I expected Inter to win this home match. I thought they would at least give their fans a victory in their final home game of the season. Although they managed to take the lead early in the second half, they couldn’t prevent the goal that came in the final minute, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

It seems like neither team took this match seriously. After all, when your championship is already secured, your entire strategy becomes irrelevant for this game; you're not too upset if you concede a goal in the last minute.

Hellas Verona has already given up on everything. I'm sure they were surprised to get a point from this match. The league is over for them now; I don't know if they'll ever be able to come back here

With the way Juventus failed this game has been a big bottle job. Because teams are so super close to each other, Juventus failed and they were the only ones who did not get a win. Milan, Napoli, Roma, Como all got their wins. This was not a week to lose, this was a big and important week and they failed. There is still one more game, which means Juventus still has one more chance to go to UCL next season, they are going to play Tornio, a simple game for them but they should hope others would lose at least.

No way man, what we just saw? What the hell Juventus did? How you can drop that points against a team like Fiorentina who was a total failure the whole season and right now didnt play for anything at all, now Juventus has to wait to see if they can have a place in the next season UEFA Champions LEague and is all their own fault. What a disaster for italian football.

It wasn't meant to be, Fiorentina that we know are the ones that beat Juventus and cost them the opportunity of squeezing themselves in the top 4, things are really happening in football. The Old Ladies still have on more chance to make it right, on the last they would be a decider for the clubs that would be in the top 4. For me I'd love to still have Juventus in the champions league next season but with how well Como have played I think it would be better (for me) to see Como advanced into the top 4 than Juventus.

I've been saying for a while that Juventus have lost a lot of their playing skills. It seems like they play every game with a fear of losing, always playing too cautiously, without trying to find some unusual moves. And so they end up being too predictable and losing. This Juventus team is truly disappointing; I don't know what to expect anymore. I just hope for improvement.

COMO only has 1 match left, to face Cremonese, and they have a pretty high chance of winning in this match considering their performance in their last matches, and if they get 3 points from this match then their points will be 71. so they only hope for AC Milan or AS Roma to lose in their match, because if one of the two teams loses, COMO automatically rises to 4th place, and that makes them officially get a ticket to the Champions League which will be history for their team.

That match wasn't important and the coach had to use it as an opportunity to test the ability of second team players that's why he rested several of the first team players, Inter had already won the Scudetto and that of the Coppa Italia few days to the match so maybe lots of the first team players needed rest.
 I don't it was important for Verona to cause they're already relegated, even though they won that match it won't have helped them escape from being relegated infact the one point they got was as good as nothing asides that their fans might brag that they drew the champions Inter in their home.

Atalanta failed to beat Bologna at home. Bologna was the better team, and we can definitely say they deserved the three points. In a match that ended scoreless in the first half, Bologna managed to cut the points gap to 3 with Orsolini’s goal. Since Atalanta didn’t lose this match by two goals, the advantage still lies with them. Since the goal difference is already in Atalanta’s favor, there’s no chance of them losing 7th place, so losing this match doesn’t pose a major problem for them.

I think Atalanta really didn't want to win this game, because otherwise they would have shown a much better game even though they lost, just look at the 6 shots and only 1 on target, unlike their usual performance, maybe because as you said, they don't have any targets, so even if they all lose in this remaining match, they still get a place to the conference league. Unfortunately the conference league is all they can achieve this season.

If Roma and Milan win their last match then they will both get a UCL ticket next season but if one of them loses it will be an opportunity for Como or Juventus to take the UCL position, but I doubt Roma or Milan will lose because seeing their opponents are currently weak clubs they should be able to optimize to win it will be a very important match for them to determine their fate while Juventus can only hope that Roma or Milan loses.

Juventus are a bit embarrassing, and that’s the point. They need to work on their mentality they need managers and coach does not forgive, like Conte, Guardiola or Mourinho. They need a captain who is a real leader, and they need serious signings, not random players. Juventus think they are in the premier league and can afford to get a 50 million signing wrong, but they are now on the outskirt of European football, the golden years are over.

I expect Napoli, Milan and Roma all to win their games which are comfortable on paper. When it comes to Como, their job is really hard against a team who are still under danger of relegation. However I believe in them anyway. 

Juventus are very unpredictable. After that loss against Fiorentina, another point loss against Torino this time wouldn't surprise me. And even if Atalanta lose to Fiorentina I expect them to remain at the 7th position.

I just read the news that Antonio Conte will leave Napoli. According to Fabrizio Romano, he will resign as coach and will not receive any severance pay. This news can be read here. The Napoli management seems only interested in first place. Even if a coach puts the team in second place, they don't consider it a good thing, and the coach will leave of his own accord or be fired. I wonder how many coaches Napoli will hire with this attitude from the management, because it's unlikely Napoli could be champion for many consecutive years. Serie A isn't Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga, where there are unbeatable big teams.

If Como goes to UCL. They can upgrade their squad even better by getting greater threshold in term of salary cap and net spend on the player transfer. So i think they will be even more competitive when they get a squad upgrade and ready for the european competition.

Como have opportunity to go to Champions League but they can be proud of this good season with any rank they will finish with. They can go to either Champions League, Europa League or Conference League and any result will be already a very big achievement for a small club like Como. Two seasons after promoting to Serie A, achieving such things is not easy and Como actually did great things to have it.

Actually, there is no need to wait for Como to enter the Champions League to improve their quality. They also need to improve their quality for next season because the competition in Serie A is always different every season. Each team will make changes and also improve their quality. If Como is left behind, maybe next season could be worse than this season. Playing in the domestic league, Como also needs to improve its performance so it can become a top team.

They will try to win their last match in Serie A and see how they will finish the season with results from other competitors from AC Milan, Roma, to Juventus. They can hope that AC Milan will lose points but AS Roma with their good form will like win their match and secure their position in top four. AC Milan with their bad form, if losing their last match will give Como a very good opportunity to overtake a position in top four directly from AC Milan.

The win against Udinese by Cremonese was actually a very important one and a life line but I think this win is definitely going to not be enough that Stulic last minute goal for Lecce against Sassuolo actually sealed the relegation battle for me because Lecce next game is against Genoa whose safety has already been confirmed and also this Genoa last win was against bottom club Pisa five games away, yes a draw will be good for Cremonese but they definitely have yo win their own game and this is where it gets tricky.

While I will say it’s not that Tricky for Como because Europa league football has already been confirmed but it’s tricky because they cannot get into the champions league places because both Roma and Milan have definitely no real competition as their opponents already know their fate already. Cagliari who Milan faces are gurantee safe already while Verona which Roma plays are already relegated, but there are end of season surprises, let’s see what happens

Antonio Conte has tried his best to stabilize napoli's performance. And I would say napoli has played quite well this season. Because their squad is no t strong enough. Napoli has  not been able to  form a strong squad to dominate serie A.

Napoli's biggest weakness is napoli's attack. Even though they won the title last  season, their attack performance was not strong. But they became champions because of their strong defense. At the same time , the performance of teams like Inter milan or juventus was also  irregular.

Inter milan is in excellent form this season. As a result, it is not  possible for napoli to dominate serie A with a weak attack. If napoli does not add experienced forwards  to their attack  next season, they will not be able to hold on to the second place in the table.

Como has a strong case for joining the top four, while Cremonese is looking for survival, which is looking not easy because their opponent is currently in the best shape, but still, predicting about this match is looking not easy because Cremonese can create problems for visitors.

Lecce is having a better chance because they are hosting out-of-favour Genoa with no wins in the last four games, meaning they surely try to outclass because this will give them a good chance of staying in Serie A for another season, which is looking favourable. A few last-round games are going to be interesting because in the 37th round, many games bring surprises, and now a few teams are still fighting hard for their targets.

Mathematically, it's possible for Juventus to qualify but in reality they will need a miracle because not only their results will matter but the mistakes of teams like Milan and Como.

Juventus has ruined all the efforts made up to now, i don't understand how Sparletti can accept something like this, it's simply a team that no longer has the desire to commit to the objectives they had set themselves, this is very serious, you can't leave a team like this in the lurch.

To be fair Spaletti is part of the problem that resulted with them being here. Before they were out of UCL, they did not had a very good season, after that they had a decent streak where they won all their games and didn't lose for a long time.

But until that moment, like until March or so, they were not in the top four at all, people assume that it's bad that they are out of top 4 now because for the past 2 months they were there, but the reality is that for many more months they were not in top four.
