Winning preseason games is not luck, you have already talked about starting incompetent players which slows down the performance of a team and that is it. It's fine when a team start some of their academy boys during preseason matches but they should understand that they need to win those matches because despite that they are not serious matches but it will be an insult to see a low quality team win a big team just because it's a preseason match. These small clubs literally start their best players while the big teams gamble their chances of winning by featuring their junior players to see if any of them can be given a chance in the senior team.

However, a team like Inter Milan should know that people will always look up to them in any preseason match they are playing and expect them to win when they meet a team that they are way stronger than. If Andy Diouf had not scored that 2 die minute goals, that is how Inter Milan would have just lost that match to Karlsruher.

If those two goals do not come in, we are all here sitting around laughing at Inter right now. The optics were bad for like forty minutes in that second half. There was no connection going forward: it was all bad, all bad.

Regarding Diouf in particular, they paid 25 million to sign him as a centre-forward and stuck him at the right wing-back. That is weird right? That is a deliberate choice. And for most of the half he looked lost. Touches all in the wrong zones, could not find the game.

Then he scores twice from outside the box in stoppage time and all is forgotten that he was looking uncomfortable for 44 minutes. I do not think that is the story though. I believe that Chivu is trying out something. He desires that that right side is inverted, cut inward, generate from half space. It is a project. Diouf even said himself after the match he needs to take it step by step adapting to a new role.

It could have been the other way around. But who remembers the results of the preseason in October? Nobody. They will remember if Diouf was able to figure out that position or not.

And if he does? With Bastoni and Dimarco already owning the left side and now you add a technical ball-carrier on the right who can also just... hit those from distance? To all of Serie A, good luck.

Why are we having discussions about the Italian national team here in a thread meant for Italian Scudetto and Seria A, why?!
The international football group is open and these exact conversations about the national team and whatever the federation of Italy intends to do should be moved that way.
Restructuring both the national team down to the national academy should be the long lasting measures to be taken. That said, there's a here we go for Kolo Muani from Tottenham Hotspur to Juventus. It simply means Joshua Zirkzee will not be leaving.

The fans frenzy about Italian football seems to have died down. I honestly do not know why but if I'm to tell, I'll say it's because of their poor outings in the UEFA Champions League competition in recent years.

Again, the big clubs in Italy aren't signing the known big stars. The competition in the league has reduced so most football fans aren't too excited about Italian football again.

It's 16 years already since an Italian club won the UCL, breaking that jinx next season will surely draw people's attention back to a league that used to be the most talked about in Europe.

I’d say Paolo Maldini’s view was anything but positive.
But in any case, I reckon Pirlo wouldn’t have been all that bad as manager; if you think about it, we’ve had worse in the past, like Ventura.
Mancini is a brilliant manager who has won so much in his career and is the last manager to have brought the European Championship to Italy after so many years of waiting, and I agree with the choice made by Malagò, but the problem will crop up again: Italian clubs aren’t investing in Italian players. We need a radical change in the system through which we develop our champions.
There's a problem with Italy; I don't know what they've discovered, but now nobody wants to take on this team. Besides, the Pirlo situation seems stupid to me; the Italian Football Federation won't accept him because he has business dealings with a casino brand. Come on, please, you can't mix things up like that. His other businesses are one thing, and what he's going to do with the national team is quite another. This is blocking everything.

And from what I’ve seen in the transfer market, it turns out Como has also been quite aggressive in signing new players. Although they haven’t signed many new players yet, there are plenty of rumors swirling about several players who might be coming to Como.
They will face a season where they need to play in Serie A and the Champions League, so they need to have a proper squad to be able to face next season.. of course they will recruit players who are more ready to compete and can be an option for player rotation. But there is no need to expect that they will recruit more expensive players, because they have spent more money to recruit Nico Paz, so they will bring in players at a more competitive price.. maybe Fabregas has a scouting team that can do that.
With the signings Como have made, I am still not fully convinced that they will really do as well as many people are expecting. What they have done in the past has made many people start having higher expectations for them this season. If Como want to perform well in these two competitions, they need to sign a few more quality players so they can have better squad rotation. If the same players keep playing every match without enough rest, their performance will eventually decline.Fabregas needs to make the most of this transfer window by bringing in more players to strengthen the squad. Those signings should be experienced, high-quality players, not players who still need a lot of development. Como need players who can make an immediate and significant contribution to the team

High quality players needed and Como already brought them in, it might not be record breaking signings but at least they get to kick off from where they start. Como is a team none of us believe will qualify for the UEFEA Champions League but look at them currently, they're going to be participating in UCL next season, this is the number one sign that Como should not be underrated again.

I'm convinced that Como will do well next season. They have the players and a proper manager, Cesc Fabregas who will lead them to achieve trophies next season. This is the time to calmly relaxed and enjoy the beautiful game of Como because I'm confident that they're not going to disappoint. They're aiming for bigger and consistent runs next season.

Perhaps they need to pay more attention to infrastructure now. The Italian national team isn't what it used to be. I think until a few years ago, we could say that every year there was at least one Italian player who was a world star. But in the last few years, I haven't seen such a player. I expect Italy to be successful and to be as influential in football as it used to be. Frankly, I used to find the competition between teams like Juventus, Inter, and Milan in the Italian league more enjoyable. Having more Italian players is very important for the Italian League.

Maybe not pinning hopes on Como, but more like curiosity to see how they perform against other experienced teams, we already know how they play in Serie A but in the Champions League the situation is very different. I just checked Como's transfer records for this season and didn't find anything special, even I was a bit surprised when they brought in Álvaro Morata for 12 Million I don't know what they are planning with this 33 year old player even though there should still be other better options at the same cost. Could Cesc Fàbregas see it from another side? for example experience Undecided

The more you look less at home, the more you empower people outside and the more you downplay the talented players within. I hope the Italian managements will understand the harm this might be causing the relevance of their indigenous players. It is not what happen in a day or a year, it is something which happens over a long period of time. The likes of Roberto Baggio and Maldini, all these hall of fame players are no longer the names we use to hear again and the replacements are no longer as popular too. Just imagine Italy could not even perform at the 2026 FIFA world cup because they failed to qualify and these are all the ripple effect to the longstanding problems you have talked about.

Well, between Pirlo and Mancini there is no discussion. What has Pirlo accomplished during his career to earn the bench of the Italian National team? His last job was in the Emirates, not even in the first league but in the second division. Come on. I love Maldini but he created a lot of confusion: first he went to Ancelotti, and it was clear Ancelotti wasn't coming because he just signed a contract extension with Brazil like 2 months ago, until 2030; then he tried with Guardiola which was basically a mission impossible. And then you show up with Pirlo?! Are you kidding me? Not a single Italian wanted Pirlo on that bench.

I don't feel like judging coaches only on the basis of what they have won because that would mean being able to choose between a few dozen coaches who have won something in their careers and it means evaluating the others directly as rejects, left-handed coached another national team and i didn't want him on the bench, i would have preferred a Pirlo or one who at least tried.

That's true as well, if clubs never gave new coaches a chance, we would never have discovered what coaches like Kompany or Maresca are capable of. As it turned out, they're both very good managers, and I believe they'll achieve even greater success in the future. As for Pirlo, I think he should have understood when he accepted the offer to coach the Italian national team, that something like this could happen.

What a fucking joke it was what happened with Andrea Pirlo and the Italian Federation, this show why the Italian football is completly fucked not only in their national team but also in the SerieA.

Now they call again Mancini so is like a circular travel, we already see this faces and despite something change very deep i dont think we are gonna see a good italy again in a few years.

It seems absurd to me, as if there were 3 coaches to choose from and then the choice always falls on the same ones, he has just coached the Quatario national team or the Saudi one and now he is back as Italy coach, after the FIGC updates i was expecting some significant changes but there doesn't seem to have been any.

Now that you expecting them to do well, may be injuries will not allow them to do much as you guys expected that's how the football goes at times and we should expect a lots of clubs that will fight for this battle.

Inter will not be the team to beat but certainly one of the teams to beat, they remain the favorite because at the moment they are one of those who have made the fewest changes and the team already knowing each other has the opportunity to do very well again, as it is already doing in the pre-season friendlies.

Yes, that's right. Juventus appears to be strengthening their squad with several changes. And they are reportedly set to sign several players who will be part of the starting lineup and even serve as substitutes for upcoming matches or even in the upcoming season. Kolo Muani is Juventus' top target to bolster their attack. And they appear to be close to finalizing his transfer after reaching an agreement with PSG. Joshua Zirkzee has reportedly been approached by Juventus to join their squad. As for Juventus’ defense they plan to sign Jhon Lucumi. So I personally believe that Juventus is laying the groundwork to compete effectively in Serie A. And I’m sure they still have a few more options up their sleeves. But Juventus must finalize all their plans quickly so as not to miss out on opportunities during this summer’s transfer window.

I hope that it is the right time for Juventus to make a reasoned and well-structured transfer market, in my opinion the purchase of Lucumì is already very important because it gives stability in defense and given his latest performances i would say that he is a boy of physical size that i would also have bet on, let's hope that the coup succeeds.

Denzel Dumfries' departure that they're yet to replace I think will be a major setback for them next season as they fight to retain the Scudetto. Inter Milan are surely my favourites to win the Italian Serie A again but I also think that AC Milan will likely be pushing for the title now that Ruben Amorim is at the club

Dumfries away from Inter is a hard blow, because a player perhaps not technically perfect but with truly remarkable explosiveness and leg strength, and not having someone with these characteristics penalizes you a bit, AC Milan with Amorim can rediscover its true identity and create a game that works, hoping it doesn't end up like last year which also filled the fans with chatter and then in the end it was a disappointment compared to expectations.

I won't have high expectations for AC Milan with their new coach because I think it will be difficult for a new coach to adapt immediately and make major changes. Everything takes time and process, and that's also true for Amorim with AC Milan.
As for Inter Milan, I think they will remain as they have always been. They are the favorites to win the Scudetto again, regardless of who comes and goes, because I believe this team already has a very strong team structure.

Inter remains the team to beat, but honestly I see them as weaker than last season, many players have left at the end of their contracts, Others have been sold! I'm not entirely convinced by the new signings, but it's still early to speak; I'll wait a little longer before giving my personal opinion on Inter. But one thing I'm sure of, Juventus doesn't have the team to win the Scudetto.

I don't find Inter weakened, the players and the redundancies were necessary but for the rest 90% of the starting team remains so i don't feel like saying that it is less strong than last year, the transfer market has just started and I'm curious to see above all how Juventus will move but above all who will let go.

Juventus and Milan will be the most closely watched teams in this transfer window because they were relegated to the Champions League qualification zone by Como last year. Both teams will be in the Europa League this year. To qualify for the Champions League next year, they have to make the best possible use of their transfer options this season. They have no other choice. I remember how well Juventus played in the past. I'm sure the management remembers that too and wants to build a similar team.

Even so, at least Juventus still has stable finances compared to the rival team, even though you don't have confidence in Juventus to win the Scudetto, at least Juventus can pay the referee to win their match.

Embarrassing comment, given that in recent years, numbers in hand, Juventus has been by far the team most penalized by refereeing events and calls to the VAR, the numbers may be coincidences but they certainly tell us something, Juventus, in addition to having to find an identity, also suffers refereeing damage.
