Ocminer,

i have switched over to your pool for 3 hours.

in that timespan i earned 2.3 eth. (Bonus included "that 30%")

I switched back to my old pool and earned 2.5 eth in 2 hours.

Could you explain that to me?

Thx

It's 10% bonus currently as already over 2000 ETH have been given away and i'm running out of bonus coins slowly.

3 or 2 hours is too short for a comparison, that must be variance, if your hashrate was/is the same.
I'm doing such tests too on a regular basis and for me its always around the same after a timespan of about 24h.

Mmm okay, i reverted back to the other pool and payment is exactly the same as it was before.

Don't get me wrong here, don't want to badmouth your pool, i know you deliver quality work, and reading about your bonus etc, i figured i'll switch because i've always been happy with your service.
But getting payed a decent amount extra somewhere else is kind of an obvious choice.

Thx for the reply!

You most likely still had some unconfirmed payments on the old pool which ran into your payout then, thats why you had some more. I just checked the last 24h of one rig which is pointed to nano and made 19,8 coins while the other rig with the same hashrate which is pointed to my pool made 21,0 - so its perfeclty in range.

I'm running lots of checks since the "fake hash" attack was - so if something would be wrong I'd notice pretty soon now Smiley

Thanks for your comparison though Smiley

I've made some more improvements to the backend - hashrate should be much more precise now.

I'll be doing another bonus promo soon, be ready ! Smiley

Hmm I just checked that port and it works fine from here, you seem to connect to "httpS" instead of http .. can you try removing the "s" ?

Yup! I can only agree! Hashrate is as it should be and payments are perfect.

Only a few pools out there who effectively hit the theoretical eth/mhash as calculated here: http://badmofo.github.io/ethereum-mining-calculator/

Suprnova is one of them!

Congrats Ocminer, not much devs with the same dedication as you!  Smiley

There shouldn't be any tricks needed, just setup the proxy and look here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1163395.msg13247116#msg13247116

Then follow this guide:

https://github.com/sammy007/ether-proxy/

Thanks !

Hi ocminer,

Is it normal that the pool no longer responds to setting the speed in MH/s to set worker difficulty? I'm connecting with the proxy and specifying 700MH/s, but the pool is forcing a difficulty of only 80. Same thing happens with rigs connecting directly without proxy.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Edit: Just read that the pool now uses static diff. Sorry!

That's correct, you should be perfectly fine with static diff, but I had some requests from big farms and I'll provide a separate Port with diff 800 today, just setting things up.

Ok, thanks. A quick observation, if I may; the luck column in the dashboard should be left renamed to difficulty, no?  A 30 second block shows as something like 4% luck.

If we find a block after 30 seconds we're pretty lucky, so 4% seems ok for me, I cannot find a wrong column after first sight.

I've had some requests for adding more proxies to the pool, i'll do that, but all those "stratum"-proxy are no real "stratum" proxys since ethminer doesn't support stratum. Its just snakeoil and IMHO sammy's proxy looks/works best.

I fancy giving ETH mining a go, for the first time.

What hash rate should I be expecting with amd r9 290 tri-x cards, on Windows?

Cheers

edit

better ask, is it profitable to mine ETH?

It depends how much you pay for power, but for me ETH is the only profitable coin right now Smiley

I make about 30 MH/s per R9280x (underclocked) - i don't have an 290x yet but you'll probably make 50-60 MH/s per card I guess

Well, I don't live in China so electricity is not free   Angry

Out of interest, what temps does the R9280x generate? That's where the electricity money goes.

I'll try to connect to the pool later this week.

edit

around 75c?

4% would be OK if the colum was called difficulty. IE it was only 4% of expected difficulty, we were really lucky.

To me:

25% luck = I only found 1 block when statistically I should have found 4
50% luck = I only found 1 block when statistically I should have found 2
100% luck = I found 1 block and statistically I should have found 1
200% luck = I found 2 blocks when statistically I should have only found 1
