Ocminer, you have a very good and stable pool here.

The only thing that isn't as stable is your bonus system.

When the price was @ 0.002ish you bumped up the bonus to 20%

Now that the price has doubled you pushed it down to 5%

Could you elaborate on that?

I'm somewhat disappointed by this and i won't be surprised if others are disappointed by this as well.

Thx

Sure, i never said i was unhappy.

I'm just asking a question.

+ this is not an attack. Suprnova is the most stable pool i've mined at. So i'm only positive about it.

But seeing my income drop from 8eth every 6 hrs to 8eth every 9-10hrs is a somewhat decent difference. (and yes i checked difficulty and block time....)

Could be a coincidence, but the bonus dropped from 20% to 5% when the price suddenly went up (and not by a little bit..).

Simple business.

I'm not going to go buy a Bottle of Milk at store A where it costs 5$ when i can buy that exact same bottle at another store for 3$.

Or i'm not going to do a job somewhere where i get paid 15$/hr when i can do that exact same job for 20$/hr somewhere else.

Yup sounds good for one card.

Concerning the bonuses I will be doing some More bonuses when my rigs are back up and Running, I currently rented them all for a longer Period  so I simply have no income for the bonuses at the moment.

Hi. It seems that timezone settings not working. I'm setting it to my timezone, but in transactions page it shows wrong datetime.
Also it would be very conveniently to see graph with earnings per day like on other pools. Right know it is hard to see how much i've earned, because "Last Day" row in "earnings" page shows unclear values.
Thank you!

Hi @ocminer

I'm wondering if you could help explain to me how is it possible to set up a stratum proxy to show the connection on your pool suprnova? I'm pretty new to the mining thing

I'm only accustomed to the usual ethminer to US server code to be pasted in the .bat file.

However I'm worried that that typical connection will cause a large% of losses to farming as I am located in Australia and the latency might effect it? I'm mining currently at 17.9Mhs but am waiting for 2 more R9 280x to arrive for mining in a bit and a 20% loss due to latency is a huge loss for me.

What is the code necessary to put into ethminer.bat file to ensure that when using your Stratum proxy I'm mining under my suprnova account?

Alternatively, if you could recommend a server of yours that would likely offer better latency It would be much appreciated."

The URL i'm currently using is http://eth-us.suprnova.cc:3000/syaoran99.Ausmain

Hi !

Setting up the proxy is actually quite simple (linux):

apt-get install golang build-essential

then:

export GOPATH=$HOME/go

Install required packages:

go get github.com/ethereum/ethash
go get github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/common
go get github.com/goji/httpauth
go get github.com/gorilla/mux
go get github.com/yvasiyarov/gorelic

git clone https://github.com/sammy007/ether-proxy.git

Compile:

cd ether-proxy
go build -o ether-proxy main.go

And you should have "ether-proxy" in that dir now. Just edit the config.json with the credentials of your suprnova account, start the proxy and point the rigs to the proxy and you're good to go.

Valid config would look like:

{

   "upstreamCheckInterval": "5s",
   "upstream": [
      {
         "pool": true,
         "name": "Suprnova ETH",
         "url": "http://eth-high.suprnova.cc:3000/john.1/20",
         "timeout": "10s"
      },
      {
         "pool": true,
         "name": "Suprnova EXP",
         "url": "http://exp.suprnova.cc:3000/john.2/20",
         "timeout": "10s"
      }
   ],

}

More info and windows versions here:

git clone https://github.com/sammy007/ether-proxy.git

Regarding Australia, I guess the Singapore node is faster than the US node, you may want to try https://eth-apac.suprnova.cc
If you're still having trouble and if there is enough interest, I can also start a node in Sydney, which would probably be best for the Aussies Smiley

Earnings is a bit "noisy" - yes, as you'd have to add the bonuses etc. "by hand". I'll add some more stats shortly !

Hey Aussies, finally a node for Australia:

https://eth-au.suprnova.cc:3000/YourUsername.Worker/Hashrate

Of course "stratum"-Proxy enabled Smiley

Setting up the proxy is actually quite simple (linux):

apt-get install golang build-essential

then:

export GOPATH=$HOME/go

Install required packages:

go get github.com/ethereum/ethash
go get github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/common

git clone https://github.com/sammy007/ether-proxy.git

cd ether-proxy
go build -o ether-proxy main.go

And you should have "ether-proxy" in that dir now. Just edit the config.json with the credentials of your suprnova account, start the proxy and point the rigs to the proxy and you're good to go.

A valid pool config portion for the proxy would look like this, here you have all nodes as failover configured:

{

   "upstreamCheckInterval": "5s",
   "upstream": [
      {
         "pool": true,
         "name": "Suprnova ETH Australia",
         "url": "http://eth-au.suprnova.cc:3000/john.1/20",
         "timeout": "10s"
      },
      {
         "pool": true,
         "name": "Suprnova ETH EUrope",
         "url": "http://eth-mine.suprnova.cc:3000/john.1/20",
         "timeout": "10s"
      },
      {
         "pool": true,
         "name": "Suprnova ETH United States",
         "url": "http://eth-us.suprnova.cc:3000/john.1/20",
         "timeout": "10s"
      },
      {
         "pool": true,
         "name": "Suprnova ETH High Diff Port",
         "url": "http://eth-high.suprnova.cc:3000/john.1/20",
         "timeout": "10s"
      },
      {
         "pool": true,
         "name": "Suprnova ETH Asia Pacific ",
         "url": "http://eth-apac.suprnova.cc:3000/john.1/20",
         "timeout": "10s"
      },
      {
         "pool": true,
         "name": "Suprnova EXPanse Pool ",
         "url": "http://exp.suprnova.cc:3000/john.2/20",
         "timeout": "10s"
      }
   ],

}

The calc says 0.65 for that card.. Hmm.. The diff and nethash spiked like crazy over the last 30h maybe it was bad luck or variance, a few days ago you would have made double that amount in a day... Hard to say but its not too far away imho

Thx

Well, that is exactly what i was saying.....

You even pushed it down to 1% now.

What about the uncles that are getting mined?

I've always paid out uncles directly after they have been confirmed.

Well, its a "bonus" - bonus means it's something someone has to pay for, it's not a bonus from the network which I get for free and then give it to the miners, I'd have to pay for the bonus or at least mine the coins which I then give away, how should that work with a large bonus over a long time if the pool runs on 0% fee ?
As already said, I'll add some more bonuses once my rigs are free again, they're rented currently, and I can mine a few coins for the giveaway, however I cannot to this all the time as I don't have indefinite money .. The coins for the bonus must come from somewhere Smiley

OK, so this is the kind of statement that really makes me wonder who's doing what to whom. Why on earth would you rent your mining rigs? The only way you can make more money renting them, rather than mining the blocks, is to rent them for more than they can mine. The renter would have to be extremely challenged with math to rent a rig for more than it can mine. So, it would seem, either you or the renter aren't thinking very clearly. Am I missing something?

On another note, how can you operate a pool with zero fees, even without a "bonus"? You at least need to recoup your operating expenses and compensate yourself for your time spent overseeing the pool.

Of course, a pool, by it's very nature, allows the operator infinite opportunities to skim money. From what I've seen, even the pools that charge a fee barely yield payouts similar to solo mining, and frequently the payouts seem way short, to me. Are people so stuck on instant gratification that they are willing to accept small, frequent payouts, rather than solo mine and know that they are getting what they (their rig(s)) are working for? Pools are another layer between the mining rig and the network and, especially with Ethereum's fast block times, network latency is a very import factor in your mining efficiency. Notice that all the pools report much higher uncle rates than solo miners; this is a sure sign that the pools are introducing delays (higher latency) in the block processing chain between the network and the miners.

I'm a solo miner (obviously), although I keep looking at the pools, since that's what most people seem to do. Every time I consider pools, I come to the same conclusion: they are all potential scams, to one degree or another, and they do not yield as good a payout, over time, as solo mining. You just need to be patient and let the probabilities express themselves, in do course. As with most things in life, the closer (more directly connected) to the source you are, the better. Just my take on it.

-Best Care

You've nailed it - someone rented all my rigs for a certain price that was fair with me to rent them. Many people rent out their rigs on MRR/Nicehash/rigs.online for higher prices than the rentability; just look at those sites, the rig rentals seem to be going pretty well, http://rigs.online is even sold out with ETH rigs (even if some really have ridiculous prices...)

I'm running pools for quite some time now, it's mostly a fun thing, it's the competition having a big pool with loads of miners on them, keeping the service up and running during DDoS' attacks, fighting against hacker attempts or getting mailed by your ISP that another botnet was mining on your pool and they thought you're the botnet operator ...

I'm absolutely certain than crypto IS the next "money" - maybe not in 1 years, not in 2 and most likely not even in 10 - but this stuff IS the future, definitely.

I'm an absolute crypto enthusiast, I love coding and working on things no one has worked before, getting things going after lots of sleepless nights and seeing after a few days how hashrate increases and everything is working. I enjoy when people ask me how to use the stuff from my github repo to set up their own (private) pool or ask me if I can set it up for them...

I enjoy when miners ask me for help how to setup the proxy for the pool or how to optimize their rigs...

It's a hobby... Others go fishing at a lake in sit 8 hours silently in the wilderness ... I go coding and setup a pool for <insertyourcoinhere> ;-)
Fisherman enjoy talking about fish - I enjoy talking about crypto ..

Of course a pool can absolutely NOT run without any fee or even no fee and a bonus for a long time - that's why the bonus is not 20% anymore and there is absolutely no question about that the 1% bonus and 0% fee will end at some point as I've got to pay for the servers etc.. Currently I have other pools which allow me to run this bonus, but simply consider it as a "promo"... And of course people notice that it a bit steep from +20% to 1% in a matter of 7 days - but hey, the Hashrate and miners on the pool doubled - my "pool of funds" for the promo is simply not infinitely.

Thanks for the constructive post ! Solo mining is great ! Some go fishing solo, some go fishing togehter Wink
