And the buy button just went live, despite the large expense, I wonder how long until they sell out of batch #1?
Good luck to everyone buying these ! Looks like some great gear, but this time around, instead of buying a fancy new miner, I did the following and will HODL. Lets see which will be the better investment 9 months down the road. This seems like the smart thing to do at the end of the day! As flashy as this hardware is, it's not looking like it is worth the inevitable risks with difficulty rises, and larger scale farm deployment. I will sit this out too, and just purchase coin and HODL. Best of luck to buyers! I bought 0.5w/GH hardware for 1BTC/TH over 6 months ago - its basically paid for itself and still holds the same value on the resale market. This stuff at 2BTC/TH, without power supply, is insanity

i think it's perfect! 2*6pin/blade, 1*controller and 1*6pin free that u can shove in one of the blades it's complicated...it might, but not 100% before someone tests it PLUS you would need to use PCIe splitters (not included) on at least two out of four singles. The geometry will be discussed here endlessly in the next month.
he can use 2 of 6pin per blade. this are 16awg! it can power 250w/6pin easy!

he can use 2 of 6pin per blade. this are 16awg! it can power 250w/6pin easy! that's the gist of the matter...people will see: three connectors required and will hesitate to use just two (and maybe rightfully so), however using splitters on a SINGLE evga red cord(s) and then engaging all three connectors on each blade is a compromise. Splitters are like $5-7 (just NEVER use the cheap 20 awg ones)

So 1300* .90 = 1170 watts. Also, the advantage of using 3 smaller PSUs is you can use three different circuits as many of us don't have the capacity to run a large PSU on one circuit.

Unless you are in Quebec or have free electricity with your apartment rental, you can never Break Even. bitcoinware.net has them on his site for $2,999.95 including XpressPost shipping. His markup has been low in the past. The advantage to buying from him is you can get them faster from him when they're in stock. So, going by bitcoinware's pricing, my estimate for we Canucks to buy direct from Bitmain is not far off. EDIT: I wonder why no Canuck has set up a huge farm near James bay in Quebec. It could likely easily compete with Swedish and Chinese farms. That far north, cooling would be way easier than for the Chinese farms and almost as good as the northern Swedish farms.

uhh, I think that everybody in this thread is aware, that mining is more or less hobby for hardcore geeks and nobody is expecting any portion of profit. those buyers will hardly celebrate, if they will even achieve ROI. if somebody is not aware about this fact and buying this magic noisy heat box for dreamed profit as money printer, he should it reconsider from scratch and visit other sections of this board. let's hope, that nobody is here so dumb here..

15 amp 110 is the DEFAULT, that's good for up to a 1600 watt PS based on what companies are actually making. Also, the "1210 watt" figure Bitmain quotes is AT THE WALL with a 93% efficiency PS. The actual draw FROM the PS should be about 1125 watts - the EVGA commonly used should have about 15% in reserve, the X1250s I use would have a bit over 10%. I wonder why no Canuck has set up a huge farm near James bay in Quebec.
I'm presuming that's a reference to cheap hydropower Perhaps someone has done so but just doesn't choose to advertise? IIRC some of the Chinese farm locations I've seen mentioned are in "near the Himalayas" areas, those would tend to stay pretty cool most of the time. You got S5s for around $250? MUST be nice to have had the money to take advantage of the price war back then. (yeah, I know BTC had a small roller-coaster ride this year though mostly down). Hint - BTC pricing changed since then, 2 weeks ago you couldn't find ANY .5W/GH machine much under about 1.5BTC per TH unless you got VERY lucky and a lot of them were running very close to 2 BTC/TH even USED. Also, Spondoolies got out of the market entirely so Bitmain lost pretty much any competition on new units (unless you wanted low-efficiency stuff like Avalon 4.x).

please elaborate imho, you don't need to be rocket scientist to imagine, how noisy it will be. based on description in OP, it is using 12038 fan, well let's google: http://www.fantech-electron.com/enu/product/view/dc-fan-12038.htmso, based on web, it will be at least 40dB per fan and there will be 2 of them + fans from PSU (you will need one very big, or 2 just big) + noise from airflow (because miner itself is some tube, one side will suck the air and second one will blow it) let's assume, that they will use the most powerful 12V fan with 2900rpm. let's calculate: https://www.noisemeters.com/apps/db-calculator.asp2x 51.3dB for fans 2x 30dB for PSU so ~55dB.

S5 was 70-72dB BTW, you are a little off with 2900rpm, I think S7 comes with 4200rpm fans
