It's actually possible that before you log out, everything was so good. And then you wake up finding out the devs have ran away and all the other coin owners have pulled their money out leaving the price of the coin you've invested in around 1 satoshi each.

I agree to most people that you should invest in yourself instead. Growth and knowledge would lead you to success no matter what happens.

it's well known that the entire altcoin world is nothing more than a heaven for speculators and pump & dump freaks. if you decide to invest in altcoins, then you must accept the fact/risk that you potentially can lose big time. if that's ok with people, then it's all up to them.

I am sure some altcoins are actually about bringing a new type of innovation, but the gross of the altcoins projects are eithers scams or intended to pump the hell out of it.
Which is why you should be careful to not invest in. Just stick with the altcoins with a good development team (public figures).

Because these developers got the most to lose.

I would rather suggest you invest into altcoins with Researchers as developers or people in the industry. They usually won't do a scam for getting some btc, and I have had people do research into coins like Ripple Network system at universities.

Even the Bitcoin market is already  risky, but you  could also try the alts market. There is a higher risk, so  I would recommend you to get  as much information as you can, then choose  the best projects and avoid  cryptos without development.

i think all way have risk, but if you have good speculation, you can get lowest risk, altcoin is the good way to get highest profit with highest risk potentially too.

I don’t know how the software and platforms to trade altcoins work but in forex you can setup stop orders, basically you put a threshold, if the dollar reaches this value against the euro then sell, I suppose something similar can be done with altcoins

It's of course always good to have professional people on board working on the project, but even these people form a certain risk when they start seeing the possibility of "earning" ahhhuuumm, stealing coins to get rich in a matter of a few minutes when they move over the funds to a different address. Look at Mark Karpeles, this dude had already like 100,000 BTC, but still he feeled the need to run away with the coins and money from people. Long story short~ When people have $$$ signs in their eyes, then prepare yourself for the worst.

It is not the investment itself but the way to manage your investment, what OP would like to know is the specific type of investment that can give us great return and I would say holding your bitcoin for a long period of time is the way to grow our money easily.

I think it is better to buy several good altcoins such as the Monero, Etheruem or litecoin, that will spread the risk.

True. For example is dividing 1 bitcoin for different altcoins. Well, you dont know what could happen with one altcoin. Let's say you are having a good rise with one coin and the others are not doing so well. At the end you might just get back 1BTC or maybe lesser.

When you are trading altcoins, expect a higher risk already. You cannot just continue to make profit although it has started to pump because time will come that it will also start to dump and the moment you failed to sell your altcoins because you are expecting it to rise again, you will be getting a worthless coins.

Actually you are right. In poloniex there is an option for STOP-Limit so you can prevent further losses or protect your profits. And I think that option is also available in other trading sites. We just needed to be educated properly on the how's of trading.

Not only in bitcoins but in any investments you should first find out whether the site is trustworthy or not to put money. If not, we will lose money easily in any online investments. So don't invest in any new sites just because they may give you better offers but always invest only on trusted sites. In this forum you can find few good sites to invest your money.

Actually you are right. In poloniex there is an option for STOP-Limit so you can prevent further losses or protect your profits. And I think that option is also available in other trading sites. We just needed to be educated properly on the how's of trading.

Even if the stop-loss take-profit functionality is not implemented by the exchange itself, you can always implement it programmatically through API, rather than via direct interaction with the trading web form. And this may in fact be a preferred way to prevent your losses from escalating since your stop-loss (stop-limit) order may not get filled at all if there is a sudden and abrupt drop in price...

You have not tried it that is why you are suggesting for it, first try to join it and try to lend your bitcoins at there after that you will not suggest for that, at lending sites you will often face scammers who will default you and the other point is that you will not get a pretty good interest but that amount is much lower relative to other investments.
