NSA/CIA/FBI/FDA/USDA ALERT: This is a question, not an actual offer or marketing opportunity! (related altcoins are only a rumor at this time) Note: The existence of a market does not assume that everyone is a criminal.
Hello everyone, let's give a warm welcome to Samuel! "Hey all, please allow me to help my truly needed family!!" ~Samuel
Critical Notice: Samuel has a rare disease that will kill him within 6 months, and leave all of his major organs perfectly healthy. Instead of donating his vital organs, Samuel wants to use a network of legit doctors and marketplaces to sell his organs/parts to support his family.
Yes, sadly some of the other people who buy and sell will be evil, almost beyond belief. Do you want human body parts and organs to be bought & sold with Bitcoin?

No.
The optics are pretty bad and we already have a sleazy factor with the darknet, kiddie porn and drug factor. Do not think we need to be on the cutting edge of this one but sure some group will be interested. Looks of tape to cut through I would imagine to get something like this rolling.

So: say eventually I'd like to upgrade to bionic limbs. If there were a market for real limbs it could help offset the cost. Did I get the moral of this right? Seems harmless enough.

Forgive my petulance and oft-times, I fear, ill-founded criticisms, and forgive me that I have, by this time, made your eyes and head ache with my long letter. But I cannot forgo hastily the pleasure and pride of thus conversing with you.

Sure, why not? If I can do this through fiat, why not Bitcoin? It might get some bad press, but it will help someone and help my family.

Nope. I don't think human body parts should be sold at all. They should be donated. I will be donating my eyes after I die.

The "best case uses" are easy to agree with, imo. Yes, but...Some of the time the transactions are "100% legit and moral", but (as with any free market) there will also be cases which need urgent investigation.

Everybody has a price, and apparently a cost. Human organs, it should go without saying, aren’t traded legally in the white market — where the high-powered business deals and Wal-Mart sales happen every day. They’re traded instead on the black market, and they aren’t cheap.
So this is the another Black Market which actively involve Bitcoin in future.

Yes I guess. I think not only organ parts but everything that can be bought with fiat should also be bought with bitcoin

In theory: Would you want to make it a "white market", since the other option is "government intervention"? and/or... Because many of the sellers/buyers have a basic right to access the marketplace?

it's none of my business.
If someone has body parts they want to sell, and there is someone that wants to buy them why does what I or anyone else thinks matter? It's a transaction between to consenting adults. And weather they use dollars or Bitcoin or seamen to make the transaction makes zero difference, it's a transfer of value from one party to another. The only real question you are asking is what people think of buying and selling body parts and organs, Bitcoin has nothing to do with it even if it's utilized in a transaction involving human organs.

Depending on the Country, this is considered illegal, even with fiat. Do I care? No. Will certain governments care? Yes. Will the media have a field day with this, if actually occurs? Oh yes.

I have not thought this one through, Bit_Happy, but my initial reaction would be "No".
But, they are already selling baby parts for money (Planned Parenthood scandal), so I guess it's going to happen.
Where do you (or anyone) draw the line?

Instead of donating his vital organs, Samuel wants to use a network of legit doctors and marketplaces to sell his organs/parts to support his family.
Perfectly understandable. Do you want human body parts and organs to be bought & sold with Bitcoin?
I certainly do. An efficient market of quality organs from trusted sources would save many lives and improve countless others. We're a long way from this today but perhaps Bitcoin (with the ability to shield market actors from would-be oppressors) can enable a few more steps along this road. Naturally, some people will think of killing others to harvest their organs for profit. Due to the nature of supply and demand, this will only succeed to the extent that people are willing to purchase organs of unknown origin. A blood shortage in summer months is not atypical and sometimes blood collection centres incentivise donors by offering small gifts (t-shirts and the like but never money). Perhaps this is an easier starting point. A bitcoiner could advertise on forums that they will be gifting small sums of bitcoin to those that donate blood on a certain day at a particular centre (a simple thank you). Done correctly, they might generate enough interest that they solve a feared "emergency situation" and get some positive media attention. Such controversy will make a good story and get people thinking about the idea of a market for blood (and ultimately organs). Whatever happens, I hope Samuel is able to do well for his family.

NO. Human body parts and organs should be donated only. IMHO poor fellows that are in a waiting list for an organ transplantation must have a chance to survive.
EDIT: Also to stop this kind of sell activities that promote criminality, like kidnapping of inocent people that they will be killed in order to sell their organs in black market, a patient that needs an organ transplantation should not try to buy one. By buying an organ to save your life you condemn another innocent person to death. The selling or buying of organs is immoral, doesn't promote the spirit of humanity and is illegal in many countries.

If it's something like Samuel's case, then yes. If it involves kidnapping, murders, etc, then NO.

If it's something like Samuel's case, then yes. If it involves kidnapping, murders, etc, then NO.
But the activity of buying or selling organs, regardless of the true intentions of the involved parties, promotes criminal activities like kidnapping, murders etc

But the activity of buying or selling organs, regardless of the true intentions of the involved parties, promotes criminal activities like kidnapping, murders etc It's a tough question. There should not be a 'price' on bodyparts to create incentive for criminal activities. But some people like to help others and it's normal they can get rewarded for such big effort. That already gives it marketvalue and possible incentive to do something bad. I think this exchange should be regulated heavily and to use Bitcoin or fiat doesn't make a difference.
