Mining the test net using Win 7 64 bit, 6 core CPU with 16G RAM, R9 280X GPU with 3G RAM. GPU hashing ~14MHs...is this about normal or a bit slow?

we are working on the main net, and we should have an announcement this week, id think. i realize everyone is chomping at the bit. one question regarding launch, our idea is for a weekend launch, something close to 6pm or so GMT, which averages out the launch time to mid morning for north america, early evening for europe. (sorry asia, very inconvenient for you, but trying to accomodate the majority of users here) does that sort of schedule work well for the majority? which is better, saturday or sunday? we will, naturally, give enough notice so that it is indeed a fair launch. im guesstimating that we will likely launch in two weeks. that being said, what is the appropriate timespan for notice? i was hoping to have at least one weeks notice for the launch window. is that too long? too short? bear in mind that the launch will also be announced on other cryptoforums, which will be brand new [ANN]s and those fine other folks will probably maybe never heard of SOIL. i was thinking a weeks notice so that we can fully get those online exchanges ducks in a row and have everything scheduled to go live at the same time. i appreciate all your input. have a wonderful sunday, wherever you all are.

6pm UTC is fine, saturday is better.
I would prefer a two weeks launch window.

dawm im working at 6pm  Huh Huh Huh

what time zone are you in? we'd be giving a launch time relative with grenwich mean time.

Portugal its gmt london.
I can only start mining it at 20.30pm
Im going to lose the launch

Let's do the launch at 20.30 pm Portugal time then..

Go for 10am GMT...Great for Europe, Good for Australia / Asia

280x 1020/1500 should give you 25-26MH/s.

The latest download links you posted. All prior ones worked fine for me. The latest loads up fine but then spams thousands of lines in seconds, and closes. Same exact setup as other ones before it, which all worked.

No fix for this? If not will older compiles be available at launch for those of us this doesn't work for?

Seems, you are the only one who has problems with the current version.
I would suggest you to delete/backup your Soil folder and making a resync.
(e.g. C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Soil)

If this is still not working, here are some links to older versions.
Let us know which one is working for you.

Thanks

we will be, in the next day or so, be closing down the testnet and preparing for the main net launch. thank you to everyone who has helped us by mining, sending transactions, and hosting nodes. your assistance has been amazing and working with this community has been incredible. we will announce the mining bounties and node hosting bounties very soon after we close the test net. you guys have done an amazing job and nearly 175 000 test net coins were minted! we will be releasing the main net package soon after and will need those who have bounties coming to provide me with their main-net wallet addresses so that as soon as we launch i will be able to transfer those funds into your respective accounts. i will endeavour to have those deposited within your accounts within an hour of the launch (it will only be 1PM where im at, so ill still be hyper-fueled by caffeine) ill announce the bounty rates tomorrow once we have finalized them. and naturally, those debits from the community reserve will be posted in the online ledger immediately after theyre deposited in the bounty holders accounts, as well, in the interest of full transparency.

like all of you, im incredibly excited about the launch, and will be counting down the nanoseconds until that moment. this is the first cryptocurrency with which ive become this involved with the development of, and we have much more to do. its a bit overwhelming at times, the number of things still sitting on my to-do list, but you have all been so incredibly patient and understanding as we go thru the growing pains of a new currency. i will be available, long long LONG after the launch to answer any questions, and once we HAVE launched, we will need stakeholders to step up and help us form an advisory committee that will help steer the future development of SOIL. ive already begun speaking with agriculture industry representatives about what we can do for them and have received many positive responses so far. a major meat poultry farmer in the netherlands using "automated behaviour monitors" and a "bio-digester" (which produces green energy and provides power to nearly 350 nearby households) with whom my family has close connections has already expressed interest in integrating his farm manager software as a DAPP on the block chain, although implementation of that will be several months down the road, we will have a stable blockchain ready for him.

so, my question now, is what sort of features would YOU like to see added in? we've taken everything you have said so far and are working at implementing everything we can, and want to make SOILsafe and gsoil the industry standards, but, is there something youve seen in another altcoin wallet that youd like to see in SOILsafe?

one of my ideas that may be a medium distance from implementation would be what id like to call SOILvault, an online backup utility, cryptographically protected, using a PIN number or something, to keep your coins safe from loss due to hardware failure, corrupted wallet.dat files, loss of the private key, etc. its something that ive noticed on message boards thats a bit of frustration to people, and would be a very useful utility. of course, thats going to take a lot of work to build something like that, but its an example of the sort of ideas id like to hear about. we want to be able to continually improve SOIL.

have a wonderful evening!

POW-POS

we have discussed Proof of Stake, but for the time being we are concentrating on Proof of Work. a stakeholder with SOIL in their wallet WILL have rights to vote on the application of evolutions to the platform, etc once we have enough coins minted and distributed to ensure a fair democracy. things that could be decided by votes are also questions regarding block reward halving, or implementation of proof of stake or a hybrid of PoW/PoS down the road. proof of stake algorithms are significantly more complex than those for proof of work, and thus far, there hasnt been anything implemented on the ethereum-platform based coins for it, although "punitive proof of stake" (slasher 2.0) ideas have been tossed around. the ethereum platform is still in its infancy, and while we are watching how PoS could be implemented, theres nothing on the immediate horizon.
