9.2 cents US now on BTC-e.
https://btc-e.com/exchange/ltc_usd
0.00768 BTC.
https://btc-e.com/exchange/ltc_btc

It was at 3.6 cents around 4 weeks ago. Impressive, really impressive! It took value even with BTC going down a little.

*EDIT*
I've corrected the typo. Didn't wanted to cause that much drama.  Wink

Tonal Litecoins!  Luke-Jr must be trading them.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

Namecoin has like almost 0 following....5 guys squatted all the good domain names.... equals.....shit

Probably more to do with mine-and-dump.

Namecoins are merged-mined alongside bitcoins, devcoins, groupcoins, ixcoins, i0coins and coiledcoins whereas litecoins cannot be merged alongside so require taking mining power away from all the other chains to mine them. Thus they are likely cheaper to buy than to mine.

Any background information on this bull run? Mining LTC is now more profitable than mining BTC.

So what? Why mine only bitcoin? To do so seems like "leaving money on the table".

How profitable is mining BTC, NMC, DVC, GRP, I0C, IXC and CLC all at once merged compared to mining any one chain alone?

Now how much more or less so if one were to add MBC, UKB, and others to the mix?

( See http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.html )

I have been purchasing an absurd amount of Litecoin for a short time now. I have attributed to the recent market prices.

Any background information on this bull run? Mining LTC is now more profitable than mining BTC.

I've talked about it before, GPU are not going to disappear. Many people have the magic thinking that because ASIC are coming, GPU are out of the market. But "out of the market" means dismantling the farm and trying to sell all that equipment. I don't want to do that, and I don't think it's the goal of a lot of people. Gamers who were making a little side money mining with their stock still want to make a little money. Those GPU are still on the surface of the planet, and their owners still want to use them.

Litecoin is a way to continue this. Some wealth is moving from BTC to LTC, and probably that people are anticipating the transfer when ASIC will hit. Also, there's the whole unexplored market of having TWO legit blockchains that was impossible when only Bitcoin was around.

Miners will bring wealth to Litecoin and give it value the same way they brought wealth to Bitcoin and gave it value.

What I don't get is how litecoins are worth more than namecoins.

Litecoin is doing its job well, being a "cheap and less secure Bitcoin". Namecoin is not interesting to use, too complex, lack details and guidelines and people simply don't bother. Merged mining hurt its value too, since people are not interested, they just receive this bonus that they sell for BTC.

I like the idea behind Namecoin, don't misunderstand me. But it's so....useless right now, even Bitcoin services don't seem to find a use for Namecoins. Where is the GUI? Where is the simple website that hold my hand about how to use it?

Cool Smiley But to mine LTC, I have to stop mining BTC.

This quote explains why Litecoin is gaining value.

Yeah as mine-and-dump coins go, litecoin is dojng okay, apart from bitcoins they and namecoins are the most valuable mine-and-dump coins most of the time (actually maybe all the time).

Take a look at http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.html to see how a bunch of other types of coin are doing, there are some surprises there I think.

Basically it kind of looks like mine-and-dump might not be the greatest way of creating valuable currency.
