I sent some PMs to someone and they haven't responded and I don't know if they even read them or not which makes me wonder, can this feature be added in the new forum, a sort of notification or a tick in the sender's sent PM box when the other person reads the PM?

I think it might also help people who open up threads in Meta saying they sent the account recovery signed message but haven't receive any response and this way they'll know that the reason for that is their PM hasn't been handled yet?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Kind of like how Facebook Messenger tracks if the recipient has read the PM? I suppose this would be a good idea, although I'm on the fence because many people would start complaining about how their PMs were read and not answered for a couple days. I've been reading a few "account hacked" posts and they seem to disregard the fact that theymos/BB are busy.

Don't use FB, so don't know how that works there but I imagine it might be the same, some of the email providers have that, when the recipient reads the email, they inform the sender about it.

I don't like this idea.

To me, it's an invasion of privacy.  I like choosing when people think I'm online/available.  I don't want alarms/triggers going off when I read a PM.

Besides, I think the forum admin already addressed this when they disabled being able to send a 1x1 image in a PM.

Yeah, it probably isn't a great idea but maybe there can be an option to turn it off in settings, like you appear online by default unless you specifically choose to appear offline. Don't know anything about the image in PM thing.

In that case, I think it'll be a good idea. Most people will turn it off though.

This is impossible to implement. Users receive e-mail notifications when PM's are received and it would be too easy to get around any kind of tracking to see when an e-mail is received from the forum (this is also ignoring the invasion of privacy that such e-mail tracking would impose).

I might support some kind of opt-in system when users choose to have a notification automatically sent to the sender notifying them their message was read. This might be good if a message does not elicit a response.
