If you earn allot of BTC from different sources then you can I suppose. I would say it depend on where you live, in my area 1 BTC would be more than enough monthly.

Yes for me, to make a living of myself for one month, I just need 2 bitcoins. Because some money around $900 would be more than enough to make a living comfortably.
But I do not want to sell my bitcoin now itself. Because I believe in bitcoin's future.

In a country like mine, I would say that I can live upon BTC0.4 - 0.5 easily a month, so if I could get what you are getting, that would be 4 - 5 months easily spent... Smiley

For unmarried people it does not require lots of money to live.
Especially if you still live with your family, in general i would say 1-1.5BTC is enough for food and other basic things.

It all depends on what you consider a living and what Bitcoin is at when it comes to price.  Right now, I need to make 12 BTC per month to make a living and this does not take into consideration any emergency issues that may come up.  My mother could live off of 4 BTC per month.  So it all depends on what goals you have set for yourself.

It is a good point on what you consider living.  Some are talking about living well and some just enough to get though the month.   I think amount should be to live decent, I'm not talking about being super well off.  But something where they have a little for some extras in life.

I find country interesting on how much some of it can effect it.  If you could live on sub .5 BTC per month I wonder quality of life on some of the countries.  I would love to hear more in this area out of interest.

Is it even possible to make a living by selling bitcoins?
i think it really possible but the questions is how much bitcoin would you need to make a living

Depends a lot on what you define as "a living".

Some folks live comfortably on under $1000/month, some seem to think they "NEED" $5000+ to live on.

"decent" is a variable concept and the cost of "decent" varies widely depending largely on where you live.
"decent" in most of Iowa is easy to achieve on $2000/month, but in Manhattan you're probably paying more than that in rent alone for a "decent" place.

True. It's a very subjective matter and it's deeply connected with the standard of living and culture of the place when you live.
It's useful to take the time and compute the amount of money needed to satisfy the basic necessitates of life, the amount needed for living decently and amount needed to living luxuriously according to your own needs.

Those will vary from person to person.
For me basics can be covered with 800$/month so approx 2 bitcoins
decently would be 1200$/month approx 3 bitcoins
and double that for luxuries - 6 bitcoins

yes but unfortunately I always have a lot of expenses Cheesy
yes 1-1.5BTC highly enough for the necessities of life if I was married, because the cost of living in my country is not too high.

This seems to be good for you, the problem now is how to earn these money.
Bitcoin price is increasing and the amount to live is going to be less every time Tongue

the average is actually less than 1k per month, if you include every country, so it must be considered that as a standard, surely not 5k per month, which is overkill

so this mean that 2.5 btc at best for anyone should suffice

I do not have to sell bitcoin to make a living. My living cost is about $3000 per month, so that is about 7 bitcoins.

This is 100% correct.  I could live off of about 5 BTC per month.  I will not be doing nothing buy paying bills and covering birthdays and holidays, but I could do that.  There are others who can live off of 1 BTC or even less.  If you live in New York City, you would need 10 BTC just to pay for rent in some places.  It all depends on where you live and what you need to live.  So this main question is to vague.

It is possible for you to live off Bitcoin. How many Bitcoins you'd have to sell depends on your lifestyle. The problem is how you earn all those Bitcoin to be able to live off Bitcoin. If you mine, you'd earn less and less. If you live off Bitcoin completely, you'd worry about a multitude of things, and it would drive you nuts. If somebody was to do that, I would say 10 BTC as a bare minimum per month.
