I do not think that confirmation time is a problem at all because it takes only few minutes to get the first confirm if you pay the proper fees
I think the reason is bitcoin's bad reputation as in news it is mentioned is some bad stuff so companies are afraid of using it

some shop will honor the payment when they see the transaction on the blockchain (within seconds) but for larger purchases retailer needs 3+ confirmation which sometimes ends up being an hour.

if you need the order confirmation so it will be shipped out, sometime it might be too late and need to wait another day to be shipped.

An issue i have at the moment is that i want to buy an antminer off someone on eBay. He says he will accept Bitcoin. If i send him the bitcoin then what security have i that he will send me the antminer to me. There is no protection yet which is a pretty big problem.

People can do what they want, we can't force them into using bitcoin.

Security is also a big issue. You cannot expect the normal person on the street to be able to keep their coins safe. Its too hard for them.

why not? because they don't know how to create a secure offline cold storage? it's not hard at all. it's just a matter of saving your wallet file to a thumb drive. it also doesn't require you a lot effort to create a paper wallet. if you meant something else, please explain.

It is a mentality problem. People has been used to put their money in the bank and "forget" about it, "the banks will keep my money safe". That's why there is not a culture of self-responsibility with your own wealth pretty much anywhere in the world. Bitcoin is a radically new concept. Never before we could be our own banks, so it will take some time until people start learning to keep their stuff safe by themselves.

I think when you got scammed for a big amount and your so frustrated about it. Also the time you spend can way to much. You also have woman's who can really get mad about it.

I guess people just dont see it as an actual currency also it goes up and down in price all the time if you have $1 then you have $1 but if you have 1btc then you may have $320 or $160 another time.

Value of dollar also keeps depreciating or appreciating with time.Some day you can buy 1 unit of something for 1 $, other day you might need to pay 10 $ for same single unit or maybe 0.1 $

uh? how can it drop based on adoption? there is no releation between the two, if you want faster confirmation you just need to work off-chain

or maybe you need the support of sidechain and implement the solution in one of them(lower confirmation time), or simply use another currency for now, like litecoin

Yeah. Being scammed will make you lose hope although that is where you should start to learn. That will be a lesson for ypurself to just do it all by yourself.
Many quits after being scammed but I guess that shoulf be the start of all.

most of them afraid of bitcoin wallet's security and not all of the item can be bought using Bitcoin

like in my country BITCOIN is not really well known here,

It's not about spending ,but rather about using bitcoin over fiat.
In any case people who hold coins are the one's who have the required assets to live their life on.The rest cashout without any doubts.

This is easily solvable, whatever you spend in bitcoins this week, you just go and buy on the exchanges in the end of the week. This is how you boost Bitcoin economy, you boost transactions and you won't miss out on buying a house.

That's at least what I am trying to do as much as I can!

Yes it must be used always so the money can circulate.  They are afraid of something else it is the lack of knowledge that scares them. Bitcoin might be a little hard to learn but while using it and asking,reading news and more you will get used to it.

It's going to take awhile before these people adapt to bitcoin, some have a hard time understanding bitcoins concept overall.

Some can't wrap their minds around it that they can't physically hold bitcoins and that it's a digital currency.

It's not just them lacking knowledge - it's the fact that at the moment Bitcoin is inherently more difficult to use in real world scenarios than fiat - so while Bitcoin may have benefits those benefits presently do not tip the scales enough. This is especially true in less developed countries and basically all other countries aside from the US where there is less infrastructure in place to support Bitcoin payments.

so many reason, for example: they got bored , they think they dont need bitcoin anymore, they think that bitcoin dont have bright future (i believe bitcoin have bright future)

That is for the starters. The earners like me. When you see that you dont earn a lot doing bitcoin you can lose your hope. But what is the profit of stopping and idling. better to just be patient and someday see it grow like a plant being carefully grew.

Maybe that will make people stop using BTC is eg bitcoin prices dropped to the lowest value, the more countries that prohibit the use bitcoin
