Fear would be the main reason I imagine. Fear of change & trying something new plus does average joe NEED to buy bitcoin?
I'm extremely bullish but we need more mainstream exposure for the average man/woman to actually want to get involved in bitcoin.

Yes getting into new technology for new payment system might be a hesitating worry for many common people more particularly for their money regarding. The fluctuating bitcoin prices must be the another reason. When they hold some bitcoins in large amount, even a slight down fall also will cost more.

Well a way to variably circumvent this issue would be to be paid in part with Bitcoin for your work, or even do signature campaigns like us. I understand why they would worry about the price falling, but I highly doubt we'll see massive downward fluctuations in the future.

I think the price of Bitcoin is starting to stabilise. Hopefully more people use Bitcoin, but if this does happen, the demand for Bitcoin will rise and so will the price. Then the price would fluctuate even more.

Fear of the unknown also. It is unknown so research would be needed to gain some knowledge about bitcoin. But what would you lose? That is the question that is needed to pop up in their minds. If you started with earning and not buying one you will see how good bitcoin is.

We need more media exposure of bitcoin or blockchain technology or anything else related to bitcoin. It is better for the exposure to be positive.

That is right. But if the media needs some approval with the government for approval that will be a failed exposure already. Government will always stop a non taxable kind of money.

The infrastructure for bitcoin is still be built and it will take several years for the bitcoin to be a popular payment option.

The most people dont need bitcoin as they dont have were to spend it!Womans like to shop ,open a store and accept bitcoin soo the mans can gift them and well they can talk each others saying i paid with bitcoin,my man gaved me and i bought a new jeans with it,im inloved for bitcoin even not knowing what it is.This is something that must be done, some shops should allow bitcoin as payments, but with the current financial problems over the world may be fast the increase of interest into bitcoin.
True, the problem is people are not aware of bitcoin and so they don't need it. The moment they see shops with a bitcoin accepted badge they will become interested. Well , I agree with you. If all outlets accept bitcoin , certainly bitcoin will become a currency . but the most important of the bitcoin should be legalized .

Yeah, right... ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) And if we are talking about media and mainstream exposure, I guess we ourselves need to do word of mouth publicity and make everyone aware of Bitcoins in a respectable manner... These things also matter as to how you explain anyone about BTC, what concept do you put in front of your friends, family, etc...

What you are saying is true but before that people should also have in depth knowledge of bitcoins then only they would start using it, I mean retailers starts accepting bitcoins but if the people are not aware of it then it would be useless, so firstly people should be introduced to bitcoins and if it clicks their mind then only adoption would be high.

I feel the main problem of the bitcoin is. It does not reach to all common people and General groceries and other small scale companies not accepting bitcoin as like fiat of the country. After companies like Dell, Apple and amazon, many companies gradually adapting bitcoin. I think After 2016 bitcoin will reach to all level people.

As I see it, some people are not using BTC in some country because they don't have computers, cellphones(probably they have one, but not like what we have in our hands that works almost like a desktop) or even internet connection specially in remote areas...I think that is whats stopping them to use bitcoin... but if we introduce bitcoins value to them and they have those that I mentioned, I think they will use it.. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

When users want something, think about they can do it, and create new systems or adapt them to their country.

I think the adaptions by big companies like that, will take longer than just 1 year. It will take at least 5 - 10 years for more companies to adapt to this. Mostly because once these bitcoin transactions starts rolling, anyone can track that down. I think that's one of the main concerns that these companies are dealing with.

I think the answer is simple: for the vast majority of transactions for the vast majority of people there is no material advantage to using Bitcoin so why would they use it?

there is actually, but they don't know about it, because from the first time they hear about bitcoin they say "no that a ponzi, that for criminals that fro this etc..." you can save plenty fo money with purse.io + bitcoin, this alone is the biggest reason to use bitcoin for now
