What's stopping people from using bitcoin?

Even I didn't knew abiut bitcoin a few days ago, so lack of knowledge or insufficient knowledge is the main problem of not using btcs..
 
Also,  maybe there is a danger of losing the btc wallet or someone may hack and steal our btcs..

People who are new to bitcoin world will definitely think about all this factors at the initial stage and it is logical to think like that, as no one wants that they should loose their hard earned money, so if the newbies are groomed in a proper way, then it can change their mindsets towards bitcoins.

Bitcoin is connected to black market and others things heavy,that fiat were connected and still but people think they created those coin and is a ponzi thing to steal your money,besides those we may say the oldest people doesnt know work with technology soo they avoid it.The others well they dont wanna to search or know about bitcoin ,as they dont believe on it ,soo lets say that are several reasons to dont use bitcoin but is when you dont care about what may happen tomorrow for me is the same.Bitcoin has bringeg huge investors into it ,the fact it has already 7 years and a value of 400 dollars for 1 btc should make people start to search about it atleast.

I don't believe that is entirely the reason for people to not use bitcoin but it maybe a part, people who are outsiders to the bitcoin world read news and every now and then there are bad news associated with bitcoin, which includes scams or thefts, like the recent Cryptsy one and that puts them a little on the back foot.

are not helping and are not making it easier to start using Bitcoin.

One thing is very curious about those news,with fiat nothing bad happens,wars are financed by fiat being dollars or other currency,and now bitcoin with huge potencial is being connected to just the darkeness side of the life,i believe really that this all news against bitcoin is from competitors ,trying to stop bitcoin adoption that will happen soon or later,its too late to kill bitcoin.

You right. No one is talking too much about fiat being used by bad ppl to do bad things. Its about power only. Fiat is controlled by government and banks, so why would they endorse spreading news that their fiat money are used illegal things. Bitcoin is out of their control and thretens their power over money, thus they want to spread more propaganda about how Bitcoin is responsible for all bad things happening.

This is a reason why people are much interested to enter bitcoin. another factor is there is none to explain about the various factors running behind the technology. people just see the outer structure and concludes. Also its difficult to explain to such people. Only they'll understand if they enter into the community

Anything can be connected to the black market and since the beginning of time people did illegal things. If not money then salt, gold, feathers, whatever. Now bitcoins. The medium is not the problem. But I understand - bitcoin is powerful and the banking system is afraid of that. It's just like the oil industry trying everything to stop alternative fuel, because they would lose money.

I will Agree with you dude. People are not aware of it, that is the main drawback in bitcoin.
If everyone comes to know about it. These Idiotic politician make politics and corruption on it as well.

Very right. That is why we shouldnt be selfish in giving some knowledge with newbies. We are newbies once and for me I always think that I am still a newbie and more knowledge needed everyday. There is always something new and that is what keeps me going.

In my opinion people masses are not using BTC because of the technicality, People love doing things simply "success of Creditcards is an evidence of that", BTC would be more interactive, also confirmations etc... would make it a more complicated and time-taking process. BTC is very convenient for country to another country transactions IMO but not for buying stuff at the mall etc...

I can swear to you that I come from, people 50 years old still uses only cash. because they see  credit cards like something difficult. I think it is a problem of education, everything seems difficult when it is new, including bitcoin

Yes, learning new thing is the stopping for many people including me. Without technical background getting into bitcoin would be a tough task which causes stopping people from adopting bitcoins.

if by cash you mean the piece of paper in your hand, then you are somewhat right but off-topic.
but if by cash you mean fiat in general in comparison with bitcoin (since we are talking about people using bitcoin) i have to say you are wrong. people are using fiat because bitcoin does not have enough real life application except investment. for instance i bought a new power supply for my pc recently, if i wanted to pay for it with bitcoin there is no place that accepts bitcoin, or i could bend over backwards and use some third party and pay additional fees in order to go through an extra process and pay with bitcoin... so i used cash!

The sanest way to use BTC. Bitcoin wasn't meant to limit choices.

this plus the volatile market makes it hard for big companies to choose bitcoin as their money.

I think there are a few reasons why people are still not using bitcoins

1. Not enough awareness
Even though there are alot of people out there that are usining the cryptocurrency , there are still millions that have not even heard of the crypto currency yet , so i think as times goes by there will be more and more awareness.

2. People are scared of the unknown
If they cant feel it or if know one controls it alot of people re scared of this concept and do not want to be part of a "risky venture"

3. Its hasnt really settled yet
This I think is very important if the bitcoin can keep a steady price for a long time I think more people will begin to trust and use it

Exactly. People are stuck in their ways. And don't like change. I know I don't. And it's not easy. But we all should adapt. And BTC has shown it's value already.

i think if reason like that not be people stop using bitcoin dude, I am also sad not many merchants who accept bitcoin, but it does not make me stop using bitcoin?

Hardly, where i live , not many people do bank transfers, maybe online shopping with card, but not wire.

So it is more likely to use bitcoin, coz it's easy.
