Must be as it is (as for me). Better orange then gold. It it will be gold then can be similar with the gold. Will lose its specificity. Bitcoin is totally different from gold. This must be expressed in everything which represent it. Even (and notably) the color of its logo. Orange is a beauty color which express power (the Sun is orange), happiness and being unique (compared to the gold).

Orange is good enough for me. It's brighter than gold color while today there are many people who like brigther color. Personally if we used gold as bitcoin logo, it wouldn't be an unique thing because there are to many online services use gold as their background color.

Well an orange color can be definitely made part of the "brand" and be easily recognizable. Making it gold or green for that matter is a lazy approach, like giving a scar to a villain, it's not only lazy it's wrong too, this is not gold nor cash. However I can see the gold color having some logic because of how mining and Bitcoin work. In my opinion a great and particular orange color (there could be thousands of variations) works or could work well.

I'm a graphic designer if that matters.

I'm not trying to be rude here, (Now please forgive me if you are offended), but...I genuinely stopped reading when you started talking about villans.

What are you even talking about?

no, orange is great.
It is great, but don't you think gold is greater?
I'm for gold one also. It's simply number #1 Wink

Hehe, ok, maybe I didn't make myself clear. Using a gold color for a "currency" is lazy, is like giving a scar to a villain in terms of lazy writing. "Look he has a scar, he is bad". Same for Bitcoin, it is golden, it's like gold or related to gold. It's just lame. However if you've kept on reading I mentioned the link with mining and gold, and that's ok I guess.

To me, there's room for a Bitcoin "orange" color that you can immediately associate with, just so you associate green with cash and gold with...gold

Oh, I see what you mean now.

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution though, (Not in most cases, but in some) so don't say because something is easy that it automatically means it won't work.

First off, if your going to post a question on a forum you should expect criticism.
I might be pessimistic and I am proud to be. I am not a dreamer as you seem to be. I am a realist.
You should learn to accept that everybody has their own opinions.
No need to be offended and take offense. And no, I don't have 1 btc because I have not worked for it because I am busy working at my real job and until the day that bitcoin is worth more than the hours I put in my job per day, I will not work full time trying to earn 1. Living in reality is much more harder than putting complete faith into something so volatile.
If you disagree with that, then I respect that as it is your decision.

I don't like the approach, it's my personal opinion but I think it sends the wrong message and I'm giving you my full explanation. Design is communication, is a visual language. It's not based on "taste" like some people say. A certain color or typography communicate certain characteristics.

I think using gold is a missed opportunity, it's not only uninspired, it sends mixed signals. The only simple thing about it was the decision part, it was simple to decide, "just make it gold". Bitcoin technology is completely unique, digital currency is "bitcoin". Orange can be its color. We can discuss if it's the best one or not, blue, red, whatever, but I'm just considering only gold & orange for this discussion.

i think gold would look good for the bitcoin logo and also what jeffthebaker mentioned about color "gold" was interesting. but i think the orange background is sort of standardized now and it would be hard to change it. we are all used to it by now.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

In my opinion color is not at all important when we consider the biggest advantages we can enjoy with bitcoin as a online user. Bitcoin need to be widely accepted then the huge adoption will make bitcoin more successful regardless of it's color nor any other factor.

I agree that color or branding is completely secondary for such a disruptive technology that "sells" itself. But that's not the discussion here.

Even the secondary thing will do the magic for the core thing. Yes right way of advertising will make make bitcoin more successful when it attracts more people towards into make them using for their daily needs.

I expect commentary, but I expect it from follow bitcoiners that are actually trying to get this currency popular to see the price increase. I know how you feel about your everyday job, but I had a job too until I quit it to do this full time. I decided I had over 40k in the bank which will last me a year with the extra assistance I get from my sister in law who is now living with me, and I'm now focusing on doing my designs for Bitcoin full time for the fact that I believe in it.

My point is if you don't believe, don't show up. It's like an atheist walking into a church. Why be in a place that is dedicated to a concept you don't fully believe in? It makes no sense to me.

It needs not to change the color of Bitcoin from orange to gold.Orange is different and attractive from far and Bitcoin should have its own recognition as it is different than gold.I would say it should remain as it is.

I do not think it should be gold because people already too closely associate BTC with XAU.
Orange is bold and makes a statement. No need to downplay things.

Bitcoins should have a touch of the digital world
Some kind of neon color or something brighter. I prefer the gold well because I find the orange color animated rather than the gold that is for me, the metalic color adds up to a more professional work.
Is it okay with you if I throw this into the OP? I will quote you of course.

Another color might be good, but it's already orange and it's been orange for years.
