No, it is not 1,000 times less it is 1,000,000 less. It is because Coinmarketcap shows Miota. One Miota is 1,000,000 Iotas. Coinmarketcap named it wrong thats the actual mistake. So the number is correct the unit name is not.

Here is a picture of units:

Only 2,779,530,283 IOTA according to coinmarketcap but according to https://learn.iota.org/faq/what-is-the-total-supply it is 1000 times more at
2.779.530.283.277.761. Why the difference?

So the market cap shown on coinmarketacap is wrong because based on Miota ?
Correct me if wrong.

No coinmarketcap is correct, they list the total supply of Mi, since IOTA is traded in Mi

Oh. Got it. Thanks.

Anyway, I wanted to play with this tonight, seeing the potential...
http://dev.iota.org is everything there? That's light, targeting IoT with only Python and Javascript meanwhile #6 market cap? Come on, I'm skeptical.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

OK so now, how do I create the fucking SEED so I can login? Instructions are great as always:

"Creating a New Account

Creating a new account is as easy as generating a new, unique seed (consisting of 81-chars, only latin letters and 9's). You do not need to make your seed 81-chars long, but that is suggested. If you already generated a seed before you can enter it and access your account directly.

Once you've done so you can start generating addresses, receiving and sending transactions."

Yes, super fucking easy, where is the button to generate the SEED?? I even watched a video that show that you should have a button to generate seed from the menu bar in the top but there is none! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyrNDtNHGIM

whatever you type in will be your seed, just type on a notepad file you seed and put in login, the seed is basically the Password and username, if tou lost the seed you lost the wallet and need a new seed, a new seed means a new wallet

calm down guy. In the old wallet was a seed generation. Unfortunately the rewrite came with a loss of this function.
But you can use whatever seed you like. Just keep in mind to make it very long and cryptic, because everyone can brute force on it...
Best would be to let yourself generate a 12 Word seed of another wallet or something. don't use too many numbers as they will be stripped and don't enhance your security

Yeah this is a great way to getting crypto mainstream.
Make millions of dollars but don't create updated instructions on how people should actually store their investment: http://iotasupport.com/gui-newseed.shtml

Instead of having to scavange the internet for a full answer on where to get a wallet and how to set it up it should always be top priority to have this as clear as is humanly possible.

I found the answer on Reddit, you have to manually write a SEED yourself.

Something lately a lot of talk everywhere about this coin. And I, too, was very interesting, the price seemed all very happy. Now I think to buy some coins, I hope it will continue to grow.

Hi all, we integrated IOTA token in EthereumWisdom (https://ethereumwisdom.com/iota), so everyone can track the price from different exchanges (at the moment obviously there is only Bitfinex).
We hope that this service will be helpful for the community!

Also nice how the wallet never askes you to confirm your seed. So some poor soul will create a seed, then deposit all his coins and when he loggs in next time realize that he pressed one key wrong by mistake when he entered the seed so will not be able to access the wallet anymore.

If your seed is still the same do not worry. The missing balance is because of the snapshot which has been conducted recently. All you need to do is to generate a couple of addresses. Then your balance should show up again. Actually, you have to generate the number of addresses you have generated before the snapshot.

+1    1.7 billion market on its first day on official exchange . it has done 23,000,000 USD so far,  so where did the 1.7 billion marketcap come from. becuse even a blind man can see that 1.7 billion has not come into IOTA.

You indeed need to do your home work.

The best starting point is the IOTA blog, maybe starting with this old update - https://blog.iota.org/iota-weekly-newsletter-1-9d79972cfe73. Read more - https://blog.iota.org

Real world projects:
https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/02/20/iota-iot-revolutionized-with-a-ledger

https://blog.iota.org/announcement-iota-as-backbone-in-e-voting-research-18f13d0edbd4
https://decentralized-identity.github.io
There are more projects which have not been announced yet.

The battle for the Money of Internet is far from being settled yet. In term of the market cap, it takes 7 years for Bitcoin to get where it is today and 2 years for Ethereum to get where it is today, which is almost as high as Bitcoin. It won't be long before IOTA catches up with them in the race of Money of Internet.
