Iota such a big scam, hilarious

Based on previous experience with scams, I will have to agree.  1.6 billion market cap in a few days?  Maybe this coin is the sister coin to ripple.

The crap gui deleted from computer. Moving on.

from what you said, i get this:
* buy a coin with a slick gui, because a nice gui is what you see as a good invest.
* it's a scam because of a high marketcap (which nothing else says then amount of coins * price)

what you will get is a scam coin which uses some other codebase and invests some money in design and marketing instead of something new! - Good luck with that!

What you are missing here is:
* the iota ico was a long time ago (yeah it was cheap at ico - but there was great chance of failure of that investment, too.
* a completly new codebase
* a completly new idea of doing it decentralized
* low protocol requirements, yes the gui is nothing "special" but it works and the thing behind is iota and how it will be a new way of doing all that world changing cryptocurrency things, perhaps one day on your toaster :O
* marketcap is just a figur - all iota * marketprice, you can't sell that amount for marketprice ... and you also cant buy it for marketprice !

so better move on - iota is nothing for you! - at least not until it's on your toaster Smiley

A user friendly gui is not a priority. Iota is to be used mainly for machine to machine communication. That's why it has no fees and the token supply so high.  This is to facilitate  micro-transactions  between devices.

Everyone saying this coin will be 100b market cap by the end of the year are just plain idiots. It has taken years for BTC and ETH to get where they are at now.

Not saying its impossible but come on people lets have realistic expectations.

Also, why would you want the price to increase that fast? Its not a good thing for coins to rise that fast cause they will come crashing down just as fast.

Slow and steady rise wins the race.

i just downloaded the client,

didn't like it a lot...  they could hardcode some urls for the light client,
or put a seed generator, like electrum

those are just basic things...

the fact it uses Java for a fuull node, kills me, java sucks so much i can't even read the name without vomiting.

This is clearly the next generation in crypto, the next Ethereum. It might take a year or more to bear fruit, but it can reach parity with Ethereum, and taking into consideration the growth of crypto in general, it is easily in the 100 billion market cap in a year or two.
I'll be putting a little in it every day/week, this is not for trading, but long term.

A little bit of perspective: Eth kicked off at 100 mil market cap when total crypto market cap was at 4.5 billion, that is a 1:45 ratio. Now eth is 35 billion with total cap at 110, that is almost 1:3 ratio. These levels certainly sounded ridiculous back then. (EDIT: BTW extrapolating the starting price of Eth to todays levels - as if it started today - would mean Eth to start at 2.4 billion cap in todays levels.)
Now IOTA is 1.5 billion, total cap is 110 billion, that is 1:73 ratio. If IOTA goes to Eth levels we can easily imagine a 1:4-1:5 ratio of total cap in a few years. Compound that with total cap growth, and IOTA is in the 100 billions easily.

You decide...

can be mined iota?

No, all Iota has already been created. It's not blockchain, so there is no mining, there are no fees. Instead, each user performs POW for each tx, it's a very small amount, done in seconds. To put it simply, for every tx you initiate, you have to confirm two previous trasnactions, hence the POW.

Any news about when IOTA deposits on Bitfinex will be available again? I have a deposit I sent and which has not arrived or has not been credited to my Bitfinex account yet. According to my IOTA client it is already confirmed.
I encountered the same problem
