Hi guys. I purchased IOTA in September of 2016 and I just tried to access it with my seed for the first time since then but it says 0 balance. I am using iota_2.3.0_amd64.deb in lite mode. Someone suggested trying to produce many new addresses. I have produced and attached 54 so far but still 0 balance. I will keep trying. But in the mean time, what else can be done?

Thanks to anyone who can help and I will be tipping anyone who is material in helping me resolve this issue.

*edit* Oh and I don't have my database information any more. All I have is my seed. I thought that was all I needed.

You ve missed the second claiming phase which was automaticly and isnt possible anymore, you ve to contact David on slack, all you need is your old seed.  Good luck with your IOTAs, great investment!.

Oh wait. I was reading this more carefully and I think we miss communicated. I purchased my IOTA second hand from an ICO investor. I think the confusion came from my use of the word stake.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

IOTA ,  Crypto 3.0?

   - IOTA is based on a directed acyclic graph (DAG) aka the Tangle, not a Blockchain
   - IOTA has no mining, no blocks, no difficulty
   - IOTA has no transaction fees
   - IOTA scales almost infinitely, unlike Blockchains
   - IOTA is not solely made as a currency but as an interoperability protocol that solves the problems of the IoT
   - IOTA wants to enable the machine economy
   - IOTA is lead by the IOTA Foundation, an NGO registered in Germany

no need of Hard- or Softforks anymore.

Iota the next level

The future is here & her name is "IOTA", this has got to be one of the most exciting projects in crypto right now. Free instant micro transactions, UNLIMITED SCALABILITY, NO FEES!!! LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN, NOOOO FEEEES & INSTANT & UNLIMITED SCALABILITY!!!!!  This is everything BitCoin wishes it could be.. Don't get me wrong I love me some BitCoin, but let's be honest BitCoin is old school tech, IOTA is 3rd Generation... Thank you BitCoin for opening the door and showing the way... Now it's time for bigger and better..Roll Eyes No more waiting 45mins for confirmation!!! Heck in 45mins the price can crash 30%!

For Security Reasons,  newcomer didnt write down their seed/password.  You ve now to create it by your own to make it more conscious, u need 81 letters and only the number 9 is accepted.

It is freaking brilliant. Do your own proof of work for your own transaction and then hash 2 other transactions when you broadcast it. Tons of proof of work piles up and there is no need for fees because not everyone needs to witness every transaction. Granted it isnt going to be as secure as bitcoin after a couple of confirmations. But no matter how insecure each individual conformation is it will still get piled under the weight of the entire network in time.

I've just tested 2 light wallets (other on remote desktop) and got terrible experience!
First, if it send, it takes like a minute minimum.
Then there's 100% CPU hogging and nothing more forever (until I close the wallet).
Then there's "confirmed" 0 value transactions?!

Did you connect the address in the wallet to the tangle? Otherwise, your payment won't show up. Second: having to give some CPU power is what this coin is all about. You are both sender and miner in one.
The receiving address was attached.
I totally don't see how I would pay in shop with this currency. Wait couple minutes for confirmation and hog my CPU for this time?

I've just sent from my phone to pc. I see it came to pc wallet but there's still full balance on phone. I guess this is beta but they work on this 1.5 year already...

So than there is no worry that I have lost my funds. Thank god. It was not a trivial amount. Cheesy

Is "David Sønstebø" the david that I am looking for?

Hey Anon, glad to see you here again Smiley

Background: The IOTA devs had to change the address scheme in order to optimize the protocol, which inevitably lead to different addresses bein tied to a seed. That's why we had to prove ownership, and the iotas were sent to a new address.

You'll have to send an email to david@iota.org and say that you'll like to do a manual claim. You then have to provide your old seed, and a new address (from a fresh seed) where David can send the iotas to.

checked the address from http://www.iota.cool/

Your IOTA's are all there

"Enter the leading characters of your address or copy/paste full address:

PIZAIFZJRIALEXDNJOKJYVIBDRP9UQPFFDZGZQZTTIEI9ZGLVLJUWBDTRIAYYDA9VWSYJASMFTBINDD WX
The address with checksum is:

PIZAIFZJRIALEXDNJOKJYVIBDRP9UQPFFDZGZQZTTIEI9ZGLVLJUWBDTRIAYYDA9VWSYJASMFTBINDD WXWZZ9MVZAF
The confirmed balance of this address:

1500025
    Based on milestone:
74101"

There was a space between the last two letters in the address that you pasted if that had anything to do with it.

No, generating other addresses won't delete your IOTA. The balance that you have is locked to your address.

So you open your wallet and the address is there but your wallet shows a zero balance and your wallet is at the current milestone/in sync?
