@ luicon

What about your idea for an "entry" level? Unfortunately IOT is always lower... I don't "remember" your numbers.

any bag holders here? i want to buy, but cant because bitfinex is against my state.
pay in any crypto i can get or btc
pm me offers
.35 each up to 300 for my 3 daughters.
Thanks

I'm in a similar situation living in Washington State.  I believe the work-around is to just answer "NO" when the pop-up message on bitfinex asks you if you are located in a given state.  Then transfer bitcoin into your bitfinex account and convert to IOTA..

Any other feedback on this?

yes,  its dropping day by day... i would buy in slowly if i had more Fiat available, but i usually do an "all in" - "all out" movements,

the numbers... well, just think about the price and multiply it by 100,
for example
0.50$ = 50$/bitcoin

so invest at 0.50 at IOTA would be like paying 50$ for each bitcoin when it just came out,
thats  roughly the calc,

All coins are dropping any way, and when bitcoin drops, everything drops,

i doubt IOTA will ever drop to 0.05$/MIOTA or so, so its up to you when to invest,
makes sense to think it might end up multiplying by two or three in 1 year, that means maybe 1,5$/miota or more, but who knows how much and when...

maybe you can buy slowly and if it it keeps droping you keep buying, this way you dont risk as much as i do,

Development Update:

- Rust development is under way and going well (already making performance comparisons on some of the components and it'll be *fast*). This is being lead by @paulh and @th0br0 (who will be announced soon)
- Simulations are being worked on together with a large corporate and university (which has not yet been announced) and we will accompany that with Whitepaper 2.0. Simulation results + framework will be published before whitepaper 2.0 (most likely)
- MAM is under way to being released out of beta
- @cfb is currently working on the final design of IOTA, which will then be worked on for the standardization + all client development. Getting great input from Cyril and Serguei, as we are now adding the ability to have timestamps (which is also necessary for the next big thing that we're working on on top of IOTA).
- @alfred-ch is helping out to get more tools developed to help with the network topology. We will be doing a restructuring today to improve the topology.
- GUI Wallet is most likely going to be released today with some of the necessary features to make it more user friendly

Quote from their slack today. The progress is going forward well and devs are pushing it hard! All that sounds really fantastic.  Smiley

As a side note, IOTA slack hit 10 000 users yesterday which is putting it soon to be the highest slack community among cryptos. It's increasing ~200 new members/day. Growth is there and it is continious but takes a while for price to catch up. Don't be fooled by the short term $ numbers and speculation. Wink

Remember; IOTA is not ready yet and it is still being developed. It is ready enough to be at this stage, much more than many other cryptos around. Once IOTA gets few more step ups it is interesting to see what happens.  Cool

I really like the direction things are moving, hope we will be hearing more news like this in the future!

I started a dedicated thread to keep track of the manual claims. Please post your story there too.

The "next big thing" is Smart Contracts. Timestamps are needed for smart contracts, as a smart contract is executed based on events occurring in a timeline.

You can also confirm this by going to: http://dev.iota.org   If you scroll down to the green section where it lists some features it says:

"SMART CONTRACTS

Automation of your processes (coming soon)."

------

So 'the next big thing' and the description of 'timestamp' is clearly indicating Smart Contracts. Imagine a fully scalable system unlike Ethereum which chokes on every ICO. The more transaction the faster it is. Yes its a big thing. Smiley

Indeed it will be huge. Imagine ethereum with scalability and no fees. This smart contract space will become crowded, ethereum, iota, eos, tezos, rootstock, and many other platforms.

Hard to say. It could be the mentioned cooperation with a company and a university. If the company is a global player like Intel or Bosch then it is a big thing. If the university is a research-intensive university like Stanford then it would also be a big thing. Let us surprise.

They're already working with Rootstock, likely create an oracle for it, and plan to do the same for Ethereum.

Do I need to run a full node wallet in order to generate a seed? There is no Generate seed option in the lite wallet under tools.

The seed generator is disabled in both full and light node for this version. You have to generate the seed yourself. You can only use all upercase English letters and 9 to generate the seed. It is recommended to generate a seed with random 81 characters. See the seed part in the IOTA FAQ - http://learn.iota.org/faqs

something i dont understand about IOTA are the snapshots,
looks like you can lose your money if you dont move the money from one snapshop to the other?

No, snapshot just cut tangle history on some of the nodes to keep the tangle small. But it remembers the balances. You just need to generate a few addresses in wallet to get to your tokens.

so this text is wrong?

---------------

snapshot? What does that mean?
Yes, we get another snapshot before the 13th June.
A snapshot is a method to reduce the size of the tangle database.

You possibly need to claim your tokens, once the snapshot is successfully performed.

What is claiming?

Claiming means, that you transfer your tokens from the old databases (before the snapshot) into the new database (after the snapshot)

If you forget that, you will never be able to get access to your tokens again, so always stay in touch and claim if necessary.

This is your duty, so don’t blame the IOTA foundation if you didn’t keep track of the recent developments.

Not every snapshot has a claiming period, the ones that have it will be announced accordingly.

Pay attention to the last line:

Not every snapshot has a claiming period, the ones that have it will be announced accordingly.

The regular snapshot do not have a claiming process, you just need to generate an address to get to your coins.
