I think it's more or less just because HTTP basic auth has a username and password. There's really not any inherent reason to do it that way.

Wow, thanks!  Cheesy We're up to about 20 GH/s now. I can just taste that first block!

Thank you.

320 MH/s is great in my book. My own machine is only doing 295 MH/s. It all adds up  Smiley

We are getting *really* close to this block, but there is still enough time to jump in for a chance at the bounty.

Here are our current round stats:

Code:
round: 1
shares in round: 800155
current difficulty: 876954.49351354
luck: 0.9124247676685697

We are 91% of the way there (on average), up from 50% on saturday. Our hash rate has jumped from ~3.5Gh/s on Friday to ~20GH/s right now.

Thanks everyone, keep it coming!

Hi!

Can you please tell me what does it mean if my real hashing power is 4x420+ Mh\s but at your pool it is displayed as 4x250-400 Mh\s?

Thanx!

I noticed that too and even emailed them. Basically they just measure your hash rate in terms of shares submitted, and with a small pool like this some random variance is normal. Initially I also just noticed that my hash rate was always lower than expected, but now I see it occasionally gets reported too high as well.

Our pool only really shows an estimate. If you look at the total pool hash rate you will see it swings up and down. We are still tweaking it, but no matter how much we tweak it, it will never show what your own miner shows. Your miner will always show you your "true" hash rate.

Have no worries, the hash rate we show you is merely informational, and has no bearing on shares, estimated rewards, or score.

I have a 295 MH/s card myself, right now pool.bitp.it shows my hash rate at 325 MH/s... other times I've seen it as low as 220 MH/s... lol.

Good to see more joining.  At any rate, time for sleep.  Been a wild day for BTC for sure.  Hopefully the pool will have it's first block in the morning.

IMHO shares value is degraded too quickly. I have been in from the start, over 30k shares submited and my reward is jumping between 0.3 and 0.9 btc all the time. (slow hashrate) Sad

Its like only luck (speed of solving) of last few minutes (before block is solved) of share submiting counts. I understand this is a anti pool hopping measure, but isnt it a bit too aggresive?

We agree.

We actually have round 2 setup to use a slower decay factor, but we didn't feel comfortable changing the decay mid-round. Once we start round 2, it should be better.

Well....

50/877227*30000 = on average 1.7 btc. (actually over 31k)
My expected payout is 0.3 to 0.9 - depending on the last minute luck. (And current block luck factor is only 1.1)

Disappointing Sad

Edit: even lower now, at max possible hashrate (my rate is 300, site is showing 320 - my lucky strike) im getting less than 0.6.  Unacceptable.

So when you notice something is fucked you rather leave your users assraped than fixing the mistake asap and limiting the damage. There is a difference between users seeing their estimated reward wrong and getting payed wrong.

I guess I better not stop now or ill get fuckin 0 for my 30k shares.

(Imagine being disconnected few min before block is solved!)
