I've been contemplating selling the few cards I have running, but they're still profitable, so if/when ASIC's hit and GPU mining goes down the tubes, I'll throw them up on eBay. I've only got a couple I specifically purchased for mining, so I'm not too worried about taking a beating on price. But until a time that they're unprofitable to run, I'll keep them going.
Just wondering, what cards are you running?

Very nice but hard to ROI i think to expensive I just invest in more Mhases the rest is hobby as making expesive rigs is just for fun, but not neccesary i need more coins in my wallets thats all that counts for me. I see lots of reasons that ASIC is a scam but i could be wrong we will see.. I've never had any ROI on all the other computer stuff I've put together in the last 18+ years either. Granted this machine is a bit more 'special purpose'. If the litecoin/bitcoin ratio holds (big IF), then the GPUs will help pay for it, other than that it is certainly an extravagance. I have ASICs on preorder (from BFL and bASIC) too so we'll see how that plays out.

I will run my 7 cards until the daily income in btc is around .20 i reckon. Every 4 days for about 10 bucks is cool. Free power here but even i will call it quits afer a while when return is not worth the time.

Just wondering, what cards are you running? Right now, just a 7970, 2 6950's and 2 5830's. Down a bit from my 11 GH, 40 GPU days.

I had about half those cards running in one room with a 8000 BTU air conditioner running full tilt and the room was still in the low 90's F.

Ouch, yeah I run 4x 7970's all watercooled, I don't necessarily have to deal with the noise, but my room gets hot XD. I live in Houston, and it still feels like Summer here.. Hopefully when the cool air comes in, I can use my rig as a heater .

a 5970 only gets like a US dollar a day worth of coins at a modest electric cost. in < 20 days the halving will make it $0.42 a day or $1.20
for those with free electricity. only $36USD/month
and soon as ASIC's 'hit' difficulty will make GPU's obsolete as soon as the next difficulty change (~within two weeks of ASIC's hitting)
in the end 7990 will be the most profitable in terms of electricity cost for mhash

Agreed, once ASIC's hit, GPU's will be worthless for mining. But it doesn't mean there won't be a market for these old cards. There's a lot more gamers out there than miners, and they're always looking to pick up an extra card or two if it's a good deal on eBay.

I for one have started to aqquire replacement parts for my gpus, in anticipation of a selloff, but I wont be selling any untill conclusive proof of "live" asics. Even if this means Im mining at a negative profit for a month or two, I feel like it's a risk I want to take.

I wouldn't be surprised if it does, or if it becomes temporarily more profitable to mine than BTC on a per watt basis. I've been mining LTC for 12 months and it's always been profitable.

If there aren't any "Live" ASIC's, I can't imagine why you'd be running at negative profit since it shouldn't change a whole lot in the next few months unless they hit.

Yeah, my point was that we are all going to know really quick whether there's 'live' ASIC's mining. Like 2-4 weeks. Once they hit the difficulty is going to shoot way up really quick, I don't think you'd need to mine at a loss for a few months, because we're going to know a lot faster than that.

Well the way I see this scenario is that the Euro is going down and bitvoin up.. So Im just basicly buying somewhat expensive bitcoins against my electric bill (3months from now)... and under the circumstances I might end up "winning" in the equation. If the profitability of my gpus falls below - (negative) 5$ a day I will be selling them off. [edit] With the current exchange rate and difficulty, my gpu earnings will drop a bit below 5$ a day when the block reward gets chopped down.
