You guys are talking about spurs like they are still playing a team ball style like they did in 2014, it hasn't been like that for two years now. The previous year when Kawhi was healthy almost all games consisted of Kawhi getting the ball and scoring and finding open teammates, his usage rate was insane and he used iso too many times.

Last year, when Kawhi was out spurs used Lamarcus Aldridge like he is a superstar and gave him the ball on low post constantly and he only passed the ball when there was double team coming and he saw open players. Basically spurs have been going with more iso style with each year, I do not think you watch NBA at all if you still think spurs play team ball.

I second this ^, Spurs didn't get a winning record on the road nor get to 50 wins total for the first time since idk...forever.

Iso ball to Aldridge was their primary offense last year, he did a decent job, but we all know he is no where to be found when playoff time.

DeMar has never been a defender himself, i don't think that's gonna change now, regardless of who is coaching him. He is also an ISO player like LA, that means more stagnant offense.

They have no rim protection as a team, Pau is too old, no bench, likely last year for Pop too. Dark days ahead for Spurs nation if you ask me, unless they turn Lonnie Walker into a superstar, which is highly unlikely from what i have seen in summer league.

One thing i'm interested to see is the DeMar - LA PnP, PnR....they can find something there that's fo sure.

That may be true but that is because of losing their main players in mid season.
Kawhi, Ginobili and Parker.

With that the plays are broken. So they find a way to keep up and they did by still getting the number 7 spot.
That is like an emergency play which they did not practice at all. How can you find offense when your 1st team is out?
You rely with what you have and try to make something out of it.
That is not how coach Pops is but he need to do it just to fill the blanks.

I might agree that Spurs today is not the Spurs 2014 but Im disagree to the statement that they are more on ISO plays now especially last season. Of course, you can obviously see that Aldridge will play on low post because they are taking it as an advantage. Back in Duncan era where Spurs is known for good ball rotation movement, there are also lots of plays like that and when double team come, Duncan will passed the ball outside for a free spot on his teammates.

Of course there are difference because there are changed on players but the ball rotation style is still there and the offense is not focus on just a single player. ISO made by Aldridge is different from the ISO Kawhi is doing.

Now lead us to the videos of most games by the Spurs whether ISO playing style is seen and not much ball rotation to validate the claim of yours. That was lots. Preferably 2016 to 2018 season. Teach us here those NBA enthusiast who aren't watch NBA regularly. We are really bad

That is not a literal ISO ball to Aldridge. If you know that Aldridge have an advantage of his defender at the paint then he will really get a lots of pass from his teammates. Its not the usual ISO like Kawhi is doing that will dance on the floor and find a way to make it to the hoop against a defender.

You should consider the firepower that they had last year where they lack of an offensive pieces. Technically speaking, doing iso plays is the most effective play that they can offer if we look at their line up.

Latest reports indicate NY are going to make everything in their power to acquire Kyrie in '19 off season.
Lakers option for Butler might be tricky though, since Anthony Davis recently fired his manager and signing with Rich Paul. There's definitely things behind the scenes we don't know about.

I don't see this much on a great team since what I see most of the time on NBA these days is individual plays which is great since we are seeing how developed and improved the players are but there are still a reason why they are called a team.

I am not saying that there are no ball movement on the players these days but I don't see it more like the old days of NBA.

Well, that would not happen though. Lebron has his contracts on LA Lakers and will be that in years. There would be a lot of great matches on West Conference finals since we will be seeing the rivals facing again, it is just sad it will not be happening in the NBA Finals. Still, there will still be a lot of new team ups on the other conference but I guess WCF would be the most anticipated games than ECF.

Yes they forgot the combined power if all of you can score or defend.

ISO types. But this plays are also made to see how good the defender is against a star. We know man to man defense is just the mostly used kind of defense now.
If it will be a mismatch then they will abuse it. If not they will try a screen for a switch of defender again.

What is mostly missing now is the double team. It may be tiring but it is also worth it if they could steal the ball. But what team does that now?

I dont understimate LA this season. They have a lot of amazing young talents plus the vets like Rondo and Stephenson can help them a lot to reach their full potential. Lebron will of course lead the team. But, its just so sad to see GSW today has a superb fire power.

Los Angeles Lakers is really a damn rich team that can offer max contract for at least two superstars. Even season 2018-2019 hasn't started yet, the talks about their plan on 2019 free agency is one of the hot topics right now. Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler and there are also others big names who might popped up on the lists.

The problem with Butler is inconsistency. Yes no doubt he is good but his explosiveness is inconsistent. But playing with Lebron, I think some adjustments will be made by him.

Nope. Butler should better play off without LeBron. He will only become a nutshell because of the great ball hugging of the king. I think Butler should play in a team that is composed of hungry players to compete for a championship and the team that's supposed to be that way is the Spurs and I do believe that he suits in the playing style of POps.

Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki open to taking on bench role in 2018/19 season

Doesn't have to force every game in the first place so I think it's way better for Nowitzki to come up on the bench and let their young rosters to do what's the best thing to do. No doubt even at his age, he still have that "hot hands".

No need also to hardly pushed the 232 points behind Wilt Chamberlain for the 5th spot on NBA All-time scoring list as he can achieved that even with a minimum of 5 points a game although it's unlikely to happened that he will only have a majority of 5 points in every game.  I think before All-Star game next  year, he will now passed Chamberlain. Just my speculation as long as he remained healthy and present in every game.

And coming from a bench, who knows he will become a contender for a 6th Man award which is unusual for a near retiree player. What an achievement if that will happened.
